Chapter 237 A Plea From Two People

Christopher could see that the onlookers were pointing in a particular direction while some people sighed. After he pushed the crowd away and saw two familiar figures, his expression turned awkward in an instant. There was a woman with heavy make-up and she was clad in expensive clothes. The blue top she wore had perfectly outlined her curvy figure. Unfortunately, her knees had swollen from a long time of kneeling. Beside the woman was a bespectacled man clad in a green T-shirt who kept bowing his head on the ground. His forehead had reddened and it’d probably swell if he maintained his actions. Nevertheless, both of them uttered the same thing. “Please tell Mr. Yard to let us off! We’re so sorry. We’ll never do that again. We’ve been kneeling here since 7:00AM. Please tell Mr. Yard to help us!” Upon hearing that, Christopher frowned. The onlookers might not know who these two folks were, but he could never forget them. The woman was Liliana Queen whereas the man was Callum Allen. Yesterday, Harold and Andy must have done something to force them to do this. Otherwise, Liliana would still be snuggling up to Jim Baxter while thinking how to destroy me. She had been accused of tax evasion. If her crime was reported to the law enforcement, she’d not be able to get away with it as the evidence of her crime was obvious. She’d probably be thrown behind bars for a few years. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have become flustered and come to kneel to beg for Christopher’s mercy. Given the lifestyle that she had been leading, having to spend time behind bars would be worse than death for her. As for Callum, he had joined the Kelley Family’s company some time ago. Harold must have discovered Callum’s crimes and given a warning. After that, the terrified Callum came to beg for leniency at this place. Christopher remembered that previously, after Callum stepped out of Mateo’s ward, he arrogantly said that he didn’t need Mateo’s company and that other companies were more successful than Mateo’s. At that time, Callum had even warned Christopher that Christopher had offended someone whom he couldn’t deal with. Following that, he also threatened to ruin Christopher’s reputation before swaggering out of the place. Now, these two people who had threatened to destroy Christopher were on their knees and begging for his forgiveness. It wasn’t time to head into work yet. After Luna and Scarlett arrived at The Serenade and they saw Christopher, they approached him and asked him what was going on. However, the people around them were unaware of what Liliana and Callum had done, so they thought that Christopher had taken advantage of his position as a cook and bullied these two people. At that instant, they started to accuse him. “No matter what they’ve done, he can’t do this to them. This is outrageous.” “That’s right. Although Christopher is a cook for The Serenade and he can whip up the Hundred Tonics Nourishing Soup, he shouldn’t do this to them.” “He’s crossed the line. Where is he now? He’s still not willing to allow them to rise until now.” The accusations continued. As Christopher listened to it, he knitted his brows together. These people were reprimanding him because they were not aware of what had happened, so he wouldn’t blame them. However, this kind of feeling was frustrating as he had never done anything wrong. Liliana and Callum were receiving all the pity while he was the one being scolded instead. This happened exactly because of the two people before his eyes. The curses from the crowd made Christopher become even more disdainful of Liliana and Callum. Upon seeing that Luna and Scarlett were about to stand up for him, he stopped them from doing so. He then walked up to Liliana and Callum before uttering in a dispassionate tone, “You are here to beg for my mercy?” The kneeling duo became ecstatic when they heard what Christopher had said before they turned to look at him and replied, “Mr. Yard, please let us off. We’re so sorry. We’ll never do those things again!” They then went on to wrap their arms around Christopher’s thighs at the same time as tears streamed down their faces. They simultaneously begged for his leniency. When the onlookers heard what these two people said, they started to rebuke him again. Without any hesitation, Christopher grabbed Callum’s collar and lifted him from the ground before uttering coldly, “Who do you think you are? How dare you slander me by reporting fake news about me in your newspaper! Furthermore, you had also mocked your boss at the hospital and threatened me. Aren’t you very haughty? Why don’t you do that to me again?” Once he had said those words, he hurled Callum away for a few meters as Callum fell to the ground and groaned in pain. Following that, he hoisted Liliana from the ground and continued with a dark expression, “How dare you tell Jim Baxter to capture me! If it weren’t because I was good at martial arts, I’d be hospitalized by now. 40,000 volts of electric shock! How did that b*stard even come up with this idea? Did you think he could really protect you? Or, did you think that I’m a pushover? Stop your wishful thinking. It’s not that I won’t dare to teach you a lesson; it’s just that I haven’t had the time to do so. Alright, I’m free now. I’ve saved your father, but not only are you ungrateful to me, you’ve also set me up. What an inspiring story!” After Christopher yanked her up, he vented out all his anger on her. Compared to Callum, he had uttered more words to her. That was because he was obviously more displeased with her. Upon hearing what he said, Callum and Liliana turned ashen in an instant. It was then that they realized both the deputy director and the Kelley Family were unable to protect them. Callum was so dejected that he even fell on his bottom. Others might not be aware of what he had done, but he knew it fully well. He had taken advantage of his position as a reporter to suppress the grassroots to gain illegal benefits for himself. At the same time, he had worked with other reporters to assist some big shots to erase negative news about them in exchange for pocket money. Furthermore, he had even used his power to interfere with the conflicts between companies and forced them to pay for campaigns to uphold their companies’ image. He was also involved in the illegal activities of printing his own press for his own interest. These crimes were enough for the law enforcement to prosecute Callum. Harold had learned about all these and warned Callum, which was why he was so flustered now.
