Upon hearing that, Christopher had an odd look on his face while staring at Harold. With a pout, he declined, “I’m too busy.” Harold quickly waved his hand to dismiss his concern. “It’s alright, Divine Doctor Yard. You don’t have to do anything. As long as you’re willing to take on the position, you’ll be paid a salary, and you’ll be able to use all of the facilities in the hospital as you wish. Free of charge.” All the while, Harold was smiling apologetically. He had his own agenda by bringing that up. Because he owned the hospital, he could earn a lot. Therefore, he didn’t care if he had to pay Christopher a salary or supply him with resources in the hospital. All he cared for was Christopher’s medical skills. As long as Christopher was willing to accept the offer, he could easily have Christopher treat his illness, which was a life or death matter. No other big shots would be able to hire him. After all, one could only enjoy life if one lived. Without life, everything else would be meaningless. It was also why he was willing to eat those disgusting things—for the sake of prolonging his lifespan. Besides, Christopher was indeed qualified to hold the position. No doctor who he hired in the hospital was able to treat him, but Christopher managed to do that. That was enough to distinguish him from the rest of the doctors. After some thought, Christopher got a grasp on Harold’s thought process. With a nod, he agreed to the proposal. “Alright. Since your hospital is rather well equipped, I will take your offer. Do you have any insignia to mark my identity? What if other people don’t believe me?” Taking on the position as dean meant that he would have a monthly salary, as well as be able to make full use of the hospital’s resources. If he was hospitalized, he would stay in the VIP ward, which would come with a lot of added benefits. Other than that, Harold was being nice about it, so he saw no reason to turn down his offer. I’ll make sure that he obeys your orders.” Harold updated Christopher on the situation after he settled all the necessary administrative processes. Satisfied with Harold’s words, Christopher nodded without objecting to it. On the other hand, Madilyn’s father had to spend some time recuperating after the operation. In order to ensure that everything was okay, Christopher checked on him personally. After making sure that there were no problems, he nodded. Christopher’s acknowledgment gladdened Harold. Just when Christopher was about to leave, Harold grabbed on to him before asking awkwardly, “Divine Doctor Yard, do you remember the Hundred Tonics Nourishing Soup that sold for five million?” As soon as Scarlett and Madilyn heard that, shock crept onto their faces, and they covered their mouths. The price soared to five million in an instant! This is shocking! Christopher looked at Harold with disdain. “I remember that. I wouldn’t have sold the soup if I knew you were the one buying it.” The expression on Harold’s face got even more awkward, which he covered up with a flattering smile. “Divine Doctor Yard, I wasn’t the one who needed the soup actually. An old man asked me to buy it as a favor,” he whispered. Upon noticing the skeptical look on Christopher’s face, Harold relayed everything in resignation. “That old man’s name is Andy Dune. He has a lot of lovers, so he’s very busy. He also has a company called Dune Enterprise under his name. He is of similar status to me.” Initially, Christopher was indifferent to the information, but he was startled by Harold’s revelation. Someone who is on par in status to Harold sounds like someone formidable. After all, Harold is an influential figure in Brentwood City. Christopher caught on to the implications of Harold’s words immediately. I don’t do personal deliveries,” Christopher commented. “Of course. By the way, Andy also likes bumping shoulders with powerful people. After catching wind of your prowess in both medicine and culinary arts, he would like to meet you. He’s willing to pay you two million if you’re willing to go,” Harold added, after which he checked on Christopher carefully. Upon hearing that, Christopher was taken aback. Judging from what Harold told me, Andy sure seems to hold me in high regard. It’s unthinkable that he would offer me two million just to meet me.
