Samantha promptly felt incredibly embarrassed upon hearing that. Meanwhile, Christopher took a white t-shirt hanging off to the side and placed it in her hands. “Put this shirt on. It’ll go well with your jeans. Having said that, Christopher immediately gave Samantha a kiss, making her head bow even lower. Then, he held Samantha’s face in his hands and kissed her with an evil smirk. The girl immediately let out a groan... ...... A few minutes later, Christopher walked out with a shy, blushing Samantha. Since he had kept in mind that Mrs. Tonwsend could arrive anytime soon, Christopher reigned himself in for the time being. Once Samantha had seated herself, he then started the car. Christopher’s home was quite a distance away from Brentwood City, and it was approximately 50 or 60 kilometers away. If he drove at a regular speed, he’d reach home in an hour or so. They were nearly home when Christopher realized the traffic on the street they were at had stopped, and they couldn’t drive down the road next to them either. “What?!”Just as Christopher was wondering what had brought traffic to a standstill, Samantha stretched out a pretty hand and pointed in the distance. “Christopher, there seems to be a parking lot nearby.” Christopher followed her gesture; soon enough, he caught sight of a large, brown board hanging on the wall next to the white poplars nearby which bore the words ‘Harmony Village Parking Lot’. “Who would have thought that our village has a parking lot now? I didn’t see any signs of it just a few months ago!” Christopher grinned, the worry on his face instantly disappearing without a trace. He then drove his Ferrari over to the parking lot. Meanwhile, there was a person with a wide smile on his face next to the parking lot. His eyes lit up when he saw the Ferrari, and he stumbled over in excitement to show Christopher where he should park his car. At the same time, Christopher also greeted this nice man with a smile. After he thanked the man, he asked him for directions to Christopher’s home. Once he had gotten the directions, the couple left the parking lot. Soon, Christopher arrived at the door of his home with Samantha’s pretty hand in his. As he looked at the red bricks that formed the walls of the house and the patches of moss creeping on it, Christopher took a deep breath. He was back at last! Christopher took out his keys, but he quickly realized that his father wasn’t home. On the other hand, he saw his mother sitting on a shabby old stool off to the side. He then smiled in delight. “Mom, I’m back.” When Mrs. Yard heard his greetings, she whipped her head up. Her wrinkles softened upon hearing his voice, and the joy that appeared on her face was also a clear sight to everyone. With her slightly reddened eyes, Mrs. Yard quickly stood up and hastily dusted off her clothes. Her hoarse voice then rang out as she said, “It’s you, Christopher! You came back at just the right time. We bought some fish today, so let me make your favorite poached fish tonight.” After she said that, Mrs. Yard finally noticed Samantha standing next to him. She went rigid for a moment, but she seemed to have come to a realization the moment after. The joy on her face grew even more. “And you are?” “Hello there, Mrs. Yard. I’m Christopher’s girlfriend!” Samantha placed her hands neatly below her abdomen and bowed slightly as she softly greeted Stacy Shield. “Oh, that’s sweet of you! You’re so beautiful. Our Christopher is so lucky to have met you!” Mrs. Yard laughed at Samantha’s words. She was unable to stop her laughter as she complimented the girl. Upon hearing that, Samantha glanced at Christopher. An embarrassed blush swept over her face all of a sudden. “Mom, let me cook dinner this time. I’m a famous chef; how am I supposed to let you do the heavy lifting when you have a famed chef right here? Go and rest. Samantha and I will take care of things.” Christopher smiled in resignation before quickly going forward to help support his mother’s weight. Just as he was about to help her sit down, a bolt of lightning seemingly flashed across Christopher’s mind. He could clearly see his mother’s forehead suddenly crease up. A look of pain also appeared on her face, but after she sat down, the look she just had abruptly vanished. “The kitchen’s right over there, Samantha. Help me wash the ingredients, and I’ll be there in a moment.” Christopher pointed toward the kitchen. Samantha nodded, and then she headed to the kitchen with her items. Then, Christopher took his mother’s right hand and reflexively felt her pulse. As he did so, his frown deepened even more. “That’s enough. Both of us know, don’t we? I’m already happy to see you come back, yet you insist on cooking and feeling my pulse. It’s rare for you to come by, so let me make dinner instead.” Mrs. Yard looked at Christopher in adoration, a grateful smile appearing on her face as she shook her head.Christopher smiled wryly as well, for it seemed that he still was helpless in his mother’s eyes. However, it wouldn’t do this time. He weighed his mother’s shoulders down as he slowly spoke. “Mom, have you felt that your mouth has been dry recently? Also, have you noticed that your eyes have been dry, and that you feel a little fatigued as well? More importantly, do parts of your limbs hurt?” Upon hearing that, Mrs. Yard gaped and looked at Christopher in utter disbelief. “How did you notice that? I’ve only experienced these symptoms recently. I haven’t even told your father about them!” Oh, that’s what I thought, Christopher thought to himself. He then carefully looked at his mother. “Mom, these are symptoms of rheumatic arthritis. The symptoms aren’t serious, but if this continues, it’ll greatly inconvenience you. It’ll be a huge bother.” Mrs. Yard let out a gasp, her expression one of panic. “Does this illness need plenty of medication to control it? If it’s expensive, then I won’t take the medicine. Let’s save the money for you to buy a house and get married!” Christopher couldn’t be more moved. Even when his mother was in such a state, she still thought of him; he really was an unfilial son. Just as he was thinking about how he should treat his mother’s illness, he suddenly remembered the bag of silver needles in the house. Christopher had bought that bag of needles for fun, so he hadn’t touched them in ages. When he thought about this, Christopher quickly headed to where the needles were stored and quickly found them. After he cleaned off the dirt on the bag, he quickly took the needles out and carefully examined them. A silvery glint shone back, and it seemed like nothing had happened to them. Once he had determined that there was nothing odd about the needles, Christopher got his mother to sit down and soothed her nerves. The acupuncture techniques needed to treat his mother’s arthritis then flashed across his mind. Without much hesitation, Christopher began to insert the acupuncture needles into his mother. In two minutes or so, cold sweat beaded Mrs. Yard’s forehead; her eyes were also closed. By then, Christopher had finished inserting all the needles. Five minutes later, Christopher proceeded to pull all of them out.
