Chapter 196 Plan B

The six men began to move forward, leaving Sylvia nowhere to escape. “Sister, sister,” Asher called out in a sobbing tone as he tightened his arm around her neck. The little guy felt the malicious aura in the air, making his body tremble even more as he clutched onto his sister for safety. “It's okay. Everything is fine. Don't be afraid.” Sylvia caressed Asher on the head, trying to pacify him. In contrast to her tone, her gaze was cold as she looked at the men blocking her way. Her brain was on high alert, trying to see any possibility of an escape route. “Who are you guys?” Sylvia asked calmly. “Are you here for money? I can give you as much as you want as long as you let us go.” Of course, Sylvia knew that such negotiation was impossible because these men were radiating terrifying killing intent. Such an aura can only be cultivated by someone who has plenty of lives in their hands. But she still clung to a hope that her offer might be able to move the men, even if it's just a one percent chance. “I thought that you were intelligent, but it looks like I was the one exaggerating your IQ.” The man who had attacked Sylvia earlier scoffed when he heard her statement. With all of them covered in black coats, including their faces, Sylvia couldn't see her enemies even if she wanted to. Furthermore, their voices seem off, giving a sense of mechanical feeling. She guessed that each of them might have taken a voice-changing pill to change their real voices. They are really well prepared. Well prepared to kill her.But why? She hasn't offended anyone. Who would want to kill her? Wait a minute. A thought suddenly struck Sylvia's mind, and her memories went back to the 'heartfelt advice' Maisie had given to the original owner before her death. Has the mastermind decided to make a move on her? All thoughts happened in a second when Sylvia suddenly saw a silver light heading towards her head. She hurriedly dodged to the side, but it appears that dodging was worthless as a piercing pain assaulted her brain. Sylvia's movement was disrupted, causing her to overlook the ball of flame coming her way. The burning pain makes her wish for instant death. Asher's loud cry pierced through the silent night. [Host!] Tears, mixed with a shade of red, fell across Sylvia's cheeks. Asher's loud cries made the pain in her back even more intense. She knew that the flesh in her back must now be very unsightly. Not wanting the little guy to suffer from any of the attacks, she embraced him tightly and then activated the wind shield and covered him with it. Although there was no injury on his body, Asher cried out, his face burning from the heat. “Finish her off and stop dawdling!” The deep-voiced man shouted. “But…” The three men who had not been in the room when the deep-voiced man was making a decision were confused as to what to do with the little kid in Sylvia's embrace.“What about the boy? It's not written in the contract that we should take his life.” One of the men pointed at the crying Asher. This is tough. The client only asked them to kill the girl, but didn't mention the kid. The deep-voiced man also felt troubled at this and turned to look at Sylvia. “You heard that right? We are not after the little kid's life? If you don't let him go, then don't blame us for what happened to him.” Listening to the man's words, Sylvia spits out the mouthful of blood she has been holding in. 'Ah.' She sneered inwardly. She would be a fool to believe any words coming out of a murderer's mouth. Even if what they said was true, Sylvia didn't believe that Asher would have a better life once she was gone. She lifted her head and looked at the deep-voiced man, who she supposed was the leader of the group. “Since I'm going to die here, why don't you tell me the name of the person who sent you to kill me? Is it the man behind Maisie?” “Heh.” The leader snorted, having a feeling that Sylvia was trying to stall for time. “Do you think you can outsmart me and I won't see through what you're playing at? Kill the two of them!” An ice arrow was suddenly launched at Asher. F*ck, these men were really great at targeting her weaknesses. Sylvia pushed her legs against the floor and made a jump into the air, but she was also met by a ball of flame that charged straight at her face. She rapidly twisted her body in an unimaginable curve, narrowly evading the ball of flame. Kicking her leg into the air, a gust of wind materialized below her feet, lifting her upward.Using the momentum of the wind, she swiftly made her way towards the crashed glass wall. “Ah, do you think you can escape?” Six attacks were launched simultaneously at her. Even an expert wouldn't be able to escape uninjured from such a firewall, much less Sylvia, who was facing the attack of six A-rank experts alone by herself. Some attacks almost caused her to fall from the air. But she gritted her teeth with perseverance when she saw that the finishing line was just right in front of her. At the end, her sacrifice finally paid off as she made it to the garden. A burst of white light erupted from her body and soon materialized into a giant wolf king. “Awooo!!!” The mighty howl caused the earth to shake with trepidation as if the end of the world was about to come. The six men were taken aback to see such a majestic beast king before them. One of them suddenly snapped out of his daze and shouted. “Hurry. The estate guards must have been alerted by the howl. We need to finish her off.” Indeed, the loud noise had already alerted the whole residence, and it wouldn't take long before they discovered the signal jammer they had set up. The six began to launch a fierce attack on Sylvia, causing her to fall from the sky. But instead of the hard ground she was expecting, her body fell on a soft cushion. With her last bit of strength, she muttered. “Run.” At the order, the majestic wolf king rose into the air, disappearing quickly. “F*ck.” The men chased after the beast, but they knew that they weren't a match against the beast in terms of speed unless they also decided to summon their contract beasts. But this would only create more chaos and reveal their identities. “The guards are coming.” The one with sensitive hearing instantly warned the others when he heard the incoming steps from the distance. “Let's retreat. We will stick to plan B.” Thankfully, their organization always has a plan B when the mission fails. So many things were wrong about this mission. First, the client hadn't mentioned that the target was skilled, which led to her escaping. Moreover, there's a kid whom they didn't know how to deal with, making the situation worse. What was even more shocking was discovering that such a young girl had actually contracted with two powerful beast kings. Could it be that they woke up on the other side of the earth today? With the guards on their way, the men swiftly fled the scene.
