“Over here.” Ian waved in the direction of the door the moment he saw Sylvia walking in.
Sylvia looked to the side and then walked over.
She noticed the two chocolate drinks that were placed in front of each chair.
Ian saw her gaze and then explained. “I don't know what drink you might like, so I asked the restaurant to give me the most popular drink on their list, and they recommended this one. If you don't like it, I can change the drink.”
“No, it's fine.” Sylvia pulled the chair backward and sat down. She smoothly reached out for the cup, took a sip out of the chocolate drink, and placed it back down. “Tell me, what do you want to say to me?”
“I… I want to apologize for what happened today. If I knew it would lead to this, I wouldn't have sneaked out of the palace at all.”
“It's alright. I can understand.” Sylvia tapped her finger on the table as she replied.
“Thanks so much for understanding.” A faint smile grew on Ian's face when he saw that Sylvia didn't blame him. “At your house earlier, what I wanted to say…” He paused midway.
“Yes,” Sylvia recalled the scenario and nodded. “What important thing do you want to talk to me about?”
“I…” Ian felt his heart racing as he began to talk. “I don't know how this might sound to you, but I actually have—”
“Ian!”
His sentence was cut short by a dark shadow that ran towards their table.
“Wow. I'm so happy that you're here.” The figure had a happy smile on her face.
“Lavinia.” Ian was shocked to see Lavinia appear out of nowhere.
How did she find out about his location? “What are you doing here? I mean, how do you know that I was here?” He looked in disbelief at the girl who was still smiling at him.
“Have you forgotten about the couple's necklaces we bought some time ago?” Lavinia revealed the necklace around her neck.
“As a couple necklace, it has the function of locating wherever your partner is in the virtual net. Oh my, it's Axel.” She soon noticed the figure seated in front of Ian.
“Hello.” Sylvia nodded in greeting at her.
“Why didn't you tell me that you were with Axel?” Lavinia sat on the empty seat next to Ian and smiled excitedly at Sylvia.
Ian ignored her question and turned his attention towards the inconspicuous necklace around his neck.
Couple necklace? Location tracking?
His expression became dark.
No wonder Lavinia always managed to find him every time he logged into the virtual net.
Thinking of how his privacy has been invaded, he attempts to remove the necklace.
But instead of it coming off like he imagined, what appeared before him was a blue pop-up notification box.
What the hell?
Ian's expression shattered when he saw this response.
“Mr. Axel, I've been visiting your store every day. Thanks so much for the discount card.” Lavinia began a conversation with Sylvia.
“It's nothing.” Sylvia shook her head.“Do you also reside on Starry Sky's planet? Can I come over and see you?”
Hearing that Lavinia was planning to come and see Sylvia, Ian immediately jumped in.
“You don't need to bother yourself. Axel is a very busy person and won't have time to entertain guests.”
“Is that so? That's quite a pity.” The girl's expression went down for a moment, but instantly turned bright as she looked at Ian. “How about I come visit you instead?”
“No!” Ian bluntly rejected her.
The two people at the table seemed stunned at his loud rejection.
Ian also realized that his attitude might have been too improper.
“I mean… no. Remember that I will be coming to the capital next year, so we will both meet by then. I wonder why you are in such a hurry, silly girl.” He poked Lavinia's nose, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
At his action, the young girl smiled coyly. “But I miss you so much. Father already told me that we will get married once we finish our studies in the capital. I can't wait until that moment.”
“That…” Ian cast a sneaky glance at Sylvia, only to see her calmly sipping her drink with an audience expression on her face.
“Let's not hurry.” He looked back at Lavinia. “Who knows what fate has in store for us in the future? I'm actually in the middle of an important conversation with Axel. Why don't you return home? I will give you a call.”
“Really. Promise?”
“I promise.” Ian nodded.
“Yes!” The young girl squealed in happiness. “Bye, Axel.” She soon bade farewell to Sylvia and left the restaurant.
Seeing her leave, Ian felt an instant relief in his heart. Just why did she have to come when he was in the middle of his confession?
Damn that necklace.
He must surely find a way to unbind it.
“Your relationship with Miss Lavinia is quite good.”
Hearing Sylvia's compliments, Ian spread his lips into a stiff smile. “I think it's just so so so.”
“So what did you want to talk to me about earlier?” Sylvia reminded.
“I…” How can he continue with his confession when the other party had already made such a compliment?
“Nothing.” He shook his head. “I just want to ask if Master is around.”
“I don't think so.” Sylvia's brow knotted in thought about Logan. “I haven't heard from him at all.”
“Oh.” Ian dragged his tone and then stopped.
“Yeah. Is that all you want to ask?”
“Hmm.” He responded positively. “I just want to know if he has returned.”
“I see.” Sylvia continues to sip her chocolate drink.
Although there was no feeling of satisfaction in her stomach, it was still great to enjoy such a sweet drink.
After emptying her cup, she bade farewell to Ian.
“I have to leave. Asher is at home waiting for me.”
“Alright.” Ian watched as Sylvia stood up and walked out of the restaurant.
Seeing her figure disappearing into the crowd, he couldn't help but lower his head and let out a depressed sigh.Just why?
He glanced at the untouched drink in front of him and then called for the robot to take it away before getting up to leave.
Looking at the bustling people moving about in smiles, Ian felt out of place, his whole body filled with a depressed aura.
It feels as if he were all alone in this imaginary world.
But suddenly, this feeling of loneliness was instantly shattered by a loud call.
Ian's footsteps halted, and he looked backward to see where the call was coming from.
In the distance, he sighted a familiar figure running excitedly towards him.
“Colton.” Ian was surprised at Colton's appearance.
When Colton arrived before Ian, he was already panting hard.
“Brother.” He held Ian's shoulder for support.
“What’s wrong with you?” Ian held him on the back to prevent him from falling.
“Do you know how many times I've contacted you? If not for the post I saw on sister-in-law's moment, I wouldn't have realized that you were having fun on the virtual net.”
“Why would you want to see me?”
“You don't know what happened. Your mother called my house asking if you were there with us. Luckily, I was smart enough to snatch the call from my mom and tell the queen that you were busy using the restroom. If not for my act, you would have been in trouble, brother."
Ian's mouth twitched when he saw Colton's expression, which seemed to be asking for praise.
If he had known how unreliable the latter is, he wouldn't have lied to his mother that he was going to Colton's place. With the other party's bad acting, it's no wonder his mother detected that there was something wrong.
