Chapter 182 Poor Robot

“What?” Ian's expression flustered when he heard his mother's question. “I… No. Why would you ask that?” “Don't lie to me, son. It's all written over your face.” The queen rested her arms against the table, her voice becoming soft. “Actually, I'm pleased to see you show this much care towards someone.” “Ever since you were young, you've always spent your time on training, which makes me fear that I was raising you to become a cold and emotionless person.” “Really.” Ian's eyes brightened at his mother's words. “Do you support me liking her?” “Son.” The queen reached out and placed her palm over Ian's hand. “I'm happy that you get to experience this kind of feeling in your heart, but I don't think this is right.” Ian's expression lost its glow as he heard his mother continue, “You already have a fiancé. How do you think Lavinia would react once she found out that you have an interest in someone else?” “But I don't like her, Mother.” Ian pulled out his hand, his eyes showing a hint of disappointment. “You know that I've never liked Lavinia since childhood. She has been the one always forcing herself on me and then urging her father to set up an engagement between us.” “But you didn't refuse the engagement either.” “That was because I thought I would never find a person who would capture my heart. Mom, I really like Sylvia. No, I love her so much that I want to spend my whole life with her. I've even imagined how happy our family would be in the future.” Ian's eyes sparkled as he spoke softly. “This is the first time I have ever experienced this kind of fluttering feeling in my heart. At first, I thought that I was afflicted with an unknown illness. Turns out it's because I'm so in love with her. Today, I sneaked out of the palace to confess my feelings to her. Unfortunately, the guards happened to rush in at that moment, making me lose the opportunity.”The queen saw the deep affection written on her son's face and knew that it would be very difficult to persuade him. “Have you ever thought of what would happen if Sylvia rejected your confession?” Ian became silent at this question. The queen went on: “Calixta told me that you once rejected Sylvia in front of the entire school, indirectly leading her to get expelled from the academy. Do you think she would accept your confession after the painful experience you made her go through?” “But…” The Sylvia back then wasn't the one he fell in love with. Ian didn't know how to explain this to his mother, as he felt that he might sound weird if he said it. “From the interaction I had with her, she doesn't seem to be interested in you at all.” The queen knew that she needed to tell the truth to her son. “I would really love her to be my daughter-in-law. However, feelings can't be forced, Son.” “No.” Ian shook his head with a determined expression. “You once told me not to give up easily. Since she once liked me, I believe I can make her fall in love with me again. I'm going to take my leave now.” Ian stood up and left the study room. “This boy.” The queen let out a sigh filled with emotion. Recalling the coldness she had seen in Sylvia's eyes, she knew that Ian wouldn't be able to succeed with his confession. “Your Highness.” Calixta stepped into the room right after Ian left. “I apologize for my lack of duty. I tried to stop his highness from coming in, but he was too fast for this servant.” “It's alright. Perhaps this is all fate.” A hint of tiredness appeared on the queen's brow, and she stretched her hand out to Calixta. “Assist me to my chamber.” “Yes.” Calixta made her way forward and held the queen's palm, gently assisting her out of the study. ===When she arrived back home, Sylvia saw that the damaged door had already been fixed. [Host, I've reset the door code to the previous one.] Susu relayed. “Hmm.” Sylvia hummed and input the password before stepping into the house along with Asher. As she walked towards the living room, she felt a pull on her shirt. “Sister, I'm hungry.” Asher blinked his innocent eyes as he stared up at her. “Alright. I will go prepare you a meal.” Sylvia patted his head and led him to the sofa in the living room. She then put on his favorite cartoon show before making her way towards the kitchen. [Host, let me.] The robot 'Bai' arrived at her side. “It's alright, I will do it by myself. It's been so long since I've cooked at home.” She rejected the robot's offer. [Okay.] Susu pulled his consciousness out of the robot's body and began to inform Sylvia of what was happening at the frontline. [Although there were some losses, the soldiers were able to force the monsters to a standstill. The third wave of the tide should be coming soon in no time. I hope they will be able to last till then.] “Hmm.” Sylvia hummed in response and continued cutting the vegetables on the chopping board. Minutes later, the meal was ready, and she called out to Asher. “Coming.” Asher hurriedly left the show he was watching and ran to the dining room. “Wah, it smells so good.” The little boy's mouth drooled at the sumptuous meal placed on the table. “Eat all you want.” Sylvia assisted him to the chair and then sat next to him. “Eek, eek.” ‘Poop scooper, where is my meal? Why is there no food in my bowl?’ The fox stared at Sylvia like a pitiful mouse who had been bullied by a gang of cats. Sylvia was almost moved for a second, but when she saw the jingling flesh on the Fox's tummy, her expression immediately hardened, and she turned her head away. “Woo-woo!” Lis cried out unjustly when he saw Sylvia ignoring him. Realizing that the pitiful face he had used to trick those two kids wouldn't work on her, he could only walk back depressedly to his special cradle. But as he climbed into it, the cradle immediately broke apart, causing him to be even more depressed. “Pfftt.” Sylvia stifled a laugh when she witnessed this scene. “What happened, sister?” Asher lifted his head from his food. “It's nothing. Continue eating your food.” Sylvia held her utensil and resumed eating. ... After they were done eating, she let Asher continue watching the TV and then head upstairs to her room. Once she sat on the bed, she opened the communication device, which had been flashing nonstop. Tapping on the message icon, she saw several messages from Ian asking if they could meet in the virtual net. [Are you going to meet with him, host?] Susu asked.“Hmm. It looks like he has something important to say to me. Besides, it's been so long since I've visited the virtual net.” [Oh.] Susu's tone sounded a bit disappointed at the hearing of this. Sylvia stood up from bed and went into the room where the cabin pod was installed before then logging into the virtual net. Unlike the chaos going on outside of Starry Sky planet, the virtual net was very lively. Sylvia stared at the robot, which was busy advertising a skin care product to her. She couldn't help but feel that the owner of the robot must have made a mistake in its programming. And sure enough, the moment the robot saw another beautiful girl, it immediately flew over. “Skin tightening? Are you indirectly implying that I have wrinkles on my face?” “Get lost!” Sylvia shook her head in pity at the poor robot and couldn't help but wonder which fool had set up such programs in its head. Taking a look at the coordinates Ian sent to her, she immediately went in that direction. Not after she left, a familiar figure walked out of the crowd and approached the robot. “What's wrong, Layla? You haven't made a sale since. If you don't, this master of yours will be bankrupt soon.” “Change the target? Definitely no way. Don't you know that good-looking people care about their appearances the most? They are our target customers. Alright, I will leave the job to you. Your master is going out to run an errand.” The figure immediately disappeared from the crowd, and the robot could only return to its duty. If Sylvia were here, she would have recognized that the familiar figure was none other than Logan.
