Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse

Chapter 550 Do You See Them?

With Nelson's healing ability, it was nearly impossible to kill him. As long as he kept breathing, he bounced back fast. But his stamina was low. Denton looked closer and realized the ones who'd knocked him around earlier were Tartrate and Handsy. It turned out that when Nelson grabbed the rope before, he'd already set up the plan. And that rope? Denton noticed it was tied to Tartrate's leg. He planned to haul Nelson up with it. But the moment Denton pulled, the rope snapped. Right after Nelson hit the ground, he cut the rope. He must've done it to stop Denton from pulling him back up. "These maniacs have lost it!" Denton clutched his hair and roared, pounding the ground again and again. He punched so hard that his knuckles bled. Great. Out of the whole team, he was the dumbest one left. He yelled like a maniac, but he knew he couldn't jump down now. He had to stay on top and cover. Just as Denton felt like he was falling apart, the tremors got even worse. The building shook so violently that it looked ready to collapse. Two more cracks split across the ground in front of him. The jagged fissures squeezed against each other, making the terrain below even more chaotic. Denton paced on the steps until Silver finally came back. When he saw what she had in her beak, his eyes lit up.It was a feather. Gray, short, like it was only half-grown. It belonged to Jet. He hadn't shown up for days. Everyone knew he'd been badly hurt and lost almost all his feathers. He was recovering. Seeing the gray feather meant Silver had found Jet. If Jet was there, Caroline was probably fine. "What about Tyler? Did you see him?" Silver tipped her head to the right. That was the way she communicated with Denton. Left meant yes, right meant no. Denton stomped. "What about Nelson? Did you see that idiot?" He was too mad to be polite. Right now, Denton still thought what Nelson did was basically suicidal. But as Nelson said himself, he wasn't exactly easy to take down. Silver tilted to the right again. Then Denton asked about Raven, and this time Silver leaned left. After a few more questions, Denton pieced it together. Silver had found Jet and Raven, but Caroline was missing. And Tyler and Nelson were nowhere in sight. "Go check again. I'll wait up here." Silver turned and flew off. Denton stayed crouched, clutching his head and pulling at his hair in frustration. Then, a deafening boom shattered the air above him. Denton jerked his head up.Rocks rained down, smashing into the glass shield. The smaller ones were about the size of fists, the big ones bigger than basins! Mixed with dirt and sand, it looked like the whole mountain was crumbling. No, it was worse than a mountain collapse. It felt like the earth itself was flipping, rolling endlessly like waves. There wasn't a single word in history that could describe this kind of disaster. Denton just stood there, jaw dropped, staring at the terrifying sight. Mud and sand kept pouring down, swallowing the sky. The entire base was buried under the falling mess in seconds. Darkness took over everything. A suffocating, pitch-black void—exactly like what Caroline had predicted. Without the shield, the debris would've smashed every building and everyone inside. Even though the shield was absorbing the attacks and protecting the walls and buildings, it still couldn't provide the base with enough energy. Inside, resources would only decrease, little by little. Denton stared into the darkness, listening to rocks and dirt pounding overhead. His heart raced. He rushed back inside, grabbed some lighting gear, and flipped it on. The lights shone toward where Caroline and the others had jumped. But there was no sound below. Nothing but darkness. ... Right now, the whole Earthenstar was going through the same disaster.
