Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
When it came to feelings, Tyler was still inexperienced. He acted more than he spoke. Just earlier, he had sat alone in the dark living room for a long time, waiting for Caroline. He had planned it out. If she didn't come out tonight, he would wait until morning and give her the gift then. Like guarding a mission point. Retreat was not an option. He had thought it through. No matter what, he wanted Caroline to have this bullet. First, because it meant something important to him and felt right for her. Second, because Caroline was so kind and capable, and someone else might fall for her someday. Even if she wasn't thinking about romance right now, he needed her to know how he felt. He wanted to claim a small corner of her heart before anyone else could. Caroline's heart pounded hard. She understood exactly what Tyler meant. Taking the bullet meant accepting his feelings. Even if the timing and the world made a relationship difficult, it still meant their hearts had reached each other. The thin layer between them, the one neither had dared to break, hovered in the air now. Tyler saw Caroline freeze in place, hesitating. He didn't push her. He was nervous, but he still smiled. No matter what Caroline chose, he would stay by her side. Whatever life she wanted, he would walk with her. Even if she returned the bullet, he would treat her the same. He would be the person she could lean on through storms and danger. For as long as she needed, until she wanted rest. What he didn't say was that he had modified the bullet.Inside the shell, he had hidden something. He would tell her one day, when everything was over. When she opened the casing herself. After a short silence, Caroline lifted the chain and placed it around her neck. She had never expected or searched for romance in this life. But holding that bullet, she felt a quiet sense of peace. She wasn't someone who expressed feelings easily. After a moment, she raised her head and smiled at him. "Thank you. I really like it." Tyler nodded once. "Thank you for liking it." Caroline still planned to head out. Tyler didn't ask questions. He only told her to be careful. After they parted ways, Tyler stayed at the doorway for a long time, looking in the direction she had gone. The corners of his mouth kept lifting on their own. He was obviously in a very good mood. Suddenly, someone poked his shoulder. Tyler jolted. It was rare for anyone to get behind him without him noticing. Instinct moved faster than thought. He grabbed the figure behind him and threw them over his shoulder. "Ouch! Tyler, I only came to watch you confess to Caroline. Are you trying to destroy the witness?" Denton groaned from the floor, rubbing his lower back. Tyler's brows tightened. Living together was becoming ... inconvenient. Where had this kid been hiding? Denton blinked his wide innocent eyes, clearly enjoying the drama. "Not just me. Nelson, Snow, Jet, Silver, Pinky, Tartrate... We all saw it." "You were staring at that bullet casing forever, so I gathered everyone and sneaked us all to the second floor to watch the show," Denton added proudly. Tyler's face turned darker. Nearly pitch-black. "Come on, Tyler, you succeeded! A glorious moment like that deserves a full audience!" Denton said.Nelson walked out from behind them, eating a caramel pudding, no expression at all. "Tyler," he said calmly, "you pretended to be relaxed, but from my angle, your right hand kept clenching into a fist. You were squeezing so hard your nails almost pierced your palm. If you need medical treatment, let me know." Tyler was speechless. "Hehehe, Tyler, can I call Caroline Mrs. Lowland from now on?" Denton shoved his face close, acting bold now that he thought Tyler wouldn't hit him with Caroline around. "Don't talk nonsense. I only gave her something." Tyler kicked him away. "And don't you dare say anything in front of Caroline." His last words came through clenched teeth. He knew what Denton was like. If this idiot started teasing Caroline, she might feel uncomfortable and return the gift. And if that happened, Tyler might really skin Denton alive.
