The leaves drooped dramatically, like they were sulking from being abandoned. Poor Medusa had been stuck up here alone for days. Finally, visitors. They had barely set foot on the roof when the twin brothers followed them up. Medusa, already cranky from days of boredom, perked right up. The droopy leaves stood tall again. Her whole posture screamed. What's this? Volunteers showed up here begging for a beating? Caroline's group didn't underestimate the newcomers. They knew Andrew wouldn't send weaklings when he understood their power. The group was ready to fight. So everyone shifted back a few steps, forming a loose shield around Nelson in the middle. Two large men in military uniforms stepped forward. Their arms were thick with muscle, and even under their camo pants, you could see their legs were built like tree trunks. He seemed immune to every illusion-type ability she tried. She even tried her "Ugliness Is a Weapon" ability, but it didn't work at all. She tried to freeze the liquid in his throat into an ice blade, but that failed too. No wonder Andrew sent these two for the mission. Worse, the man kept firing tiny silver needles from his fingers, so small they were almost invisible. Anyone touched by them, even something as big as Medusa, would collapse in three seconds. That alone showed how dangerous they were. Tyler had already turned his whole body into metal, so the needles couldn't hurt him. His fight with the older brother was evenly matched. A spray of silver needles shot toward her. At that critical moment she mouthed a single word. "Gravity Field!" Dozens of needles dropped to the floor. The bulky man suddenly sank to his knees. While dodging, Caroline refreshed the Zero System three times. Finally, she unlocked Raven's new ability. She had to admit, it really was useful. The man tried to stand, but Caroline kicked him back down. At the same time, an ice blade flew out and sliced through his wrist and ankle tendons. "Stay quiet or I'll kill you," she said. "I'm leaving you alive because I need to bargain with Commander Zimmer. You'd better know your place."
