Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse

Chapter 423 Setting Off

Caroline even started to wonder if the reason Nelson's hair never grew back was because he kept running his hands over his head. "Oh, right, tonight we're going to smash that plague-spreading organization. I'm thinking of giving everyone some spring water tomorrow," Caroline said, laying out her plan. Nelson's eyes lit up when he heard this. "Awesome! I'm not tagging along to smash some crappy organization. Can I just drink the spirit spring water now?" Caroline had not expected him to be this impatient. She glanced at Shane, still asleep, and felt a bit concerned. "Is it okay to just leave that guy there?" At Caroline's words, Nelson immediately went over to grab a syringe. "No problem, I'll give him a shot." Caroline inhaled sharply. For some reason, she suddenly felt a bit of sympathy for Shane. Under Nelson's insistence, Caroline brought out the spring water. Since Nelson had already said he wanted to "conduct various experiments," just drinking it posed no challenge for him. He tried every "spring water experiment" he could think of—drinking it, bathing in it, mixing it with acid rain, even drinking it while bathing in the stuff. Of course, he needed multiple control groups, so he included Snow, Silver, Denton, and Pinky. Since Silver and Snow would be going out tonight, and Denton would also be joining the fight, Pinky was pulled over by Nelson to be his first test subject. Denton stood at the door, ceremoniously handing over the adorable Pinky. The little creature's wide eyes brimmed with reluctance as she trembled slightly. Nelson treated Pinky gently, stroking her tiny head and softly saying, "Don't be afraid, don't worry, the big gray wolf won't come." Unfortunately, at that moment, Pinky looked at Nelson as if he were the big gray wolf himself. By evening, Caroline went to Francis and asked him to have someone keep an eye on Nelson on the sixty-fifth floor. Francis thumped his chest confidently, promising Nelson would be perfectly safe."After all, you're going to eliminate that plague-spreading organization. You are doing it for the people! Plus, the trouble they caused at the base last time hurt so many people, so your mission has my full support. Don't worry, I'll send ten guys upstairs to guard the sixty-fifth floor tight as a drum!" With a wave of his hand, Francis had Alger lead a dozen guys to the sixty-fifth floor immediately. Caroline breathed a sigh of relief. Even if someone escaped during the operation and tried to retaliate at Building A, Nelson should still be safe. Just as Caroline and Tyler were about to leave, Francis cheerfully called out, "Oh, right, Caroline, do you need any extra abilities supplemented?" At this, the ten guys stationed on the sixty-fifth floor all turned their heads in unison, eyes bright as they stared at Caroline. Caroline, frowning, pushed Francis's hand away. "We'll top up a few abilities a few days before we move. No need to make a fuss now." Strangely, Caroline thought she could see a flicker of disappointment on some of the guys' faces. Caroline stayed silent. Blame Francis for that! With only a handful of them, they finally set off together. When Caroline and Tyler mounted their rides, Denton, running behind, protested, "Tyler, Caroline, wait for me! I want to catch a dog—no, a tiger, a lion, an elephant! I want a ride bigger than yours!" Caroline smirked and tossed him a motorcycle. Denton, easily pleased, immediately cheered, but after barely riding, he fell off. Sorry, Denton, before the apocalypse, he was a minor in Caswana. By law, he was not allowed to ride motorcycles. Even in the mercenary group, he had never used riding skills, so he still did not know how. Tyler glanced back and muttered a single word. "Idiot." Denton sulked and tried to cling to Snow. Snow bared her teeth at him. "I'm a proud wolf. Accepting one master is humiliation enough; now you want me to accept two?"Caroline burst out laughing. She had thought of a perfect mount for Denton, though she was not sure if he would like it. When Caroline conjured a tiny pony from her space, both Tyler and Denton were stunned. She looked at Tyler and said, "I can keep some animals in my space. This little pony has been living there for free for a while. It's perfect for now."
