Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
The disaster from a few days ago had left Crow burning with rage. He'd always seen himself as someone above everyone else, even above the army, Tyler, and Caroline. He never thought any of them were worth his time. Since being reborn, he believed he was the chosen one, destined to build his empire, gather the strongest ability users, and rewrite his past failures. But then came the victory of Building A. Nelson trusted them. Lisa was forced to back down. Crow finally realized this life wasn't following the same path as before. He thought hard, trying to figure out where things had gone off track. Eventually, he traced it back to a woman named Caroline. He'd never heard of her before. At first, he assumed she was the army doctor everyone talked about. But when Nelson appeared with that doctor, he knew he was wrong. So who exactly was Caroline? And how could a woman with such unbelievable abilities have left no trace in his last life? He decided to use his ability to see Caroline's future. Crow's ability was impressive, but it came with limits. It could only be used once every ten days. Even then, it wasn't perfect. The clearer the future, the sharper the vision. The more uncertain it was, the blurrier things became. When he tried to peer into Caroline's future, all he saw was a villa. Caroline stared at the sketch in silence. A storm of thoughts spun in her mind, though her face stayed calm. She turned to Francis and asked, "What's your plan?" Francis rubbed his chin, a sly grin forming. "Honestly? I've never liked those guys from Building B. They called themselves Obsidian Fang or whatever name they go by. They act like they're above everyone. Always flexing around the army. Sure, they haven't done anything downright evil, but everything about them just rubs me the wrong way. So if they're begging for our help now ... " His grin widened. "Maybe it's time they learn we're difficult to push around."Caroline nodded. That was exactly how she felt too. She would rather not cooperate with Francis this time. She decided they'd split up with two separate plans. Caroline needed to figure out just how much Crow knew. Leaving Francis's office, Caroline felt a heavy weight on her chest. Should she deal with Crow directly? Maybe kill him before he becomes a problem? But the Obsidian Fang protected him well. Taking him out quietly would be nearly impossible. If she failed, their revenge would be brutal. Tyler walked beside her without saying a word, watching her lost in thought. But deep down, he'd already made up his mind about what needed to be done. That day, Caroline didn't reply to the Obsidian Fang. Meanwhile, inside their base, Dyson's condition had stabilized for now. But even their best healing ability user had warned that if they didn't find something stronger soon, Dyson wouldn't last much longer. If Dyson didn't wake up within three days, he'd be gone for sure. That meant they had only three days to convince Caroline or the army to help. Sure, they could try to find another healing ability user, but Crow knew better. From the memory of his previous life, no one could handle injuries like this except Dr. Sinclair or Nelson. The letter had already been sent out, but there was still no reply from either side. "Looks like it's time to take our game up a level tonight," Crow said through clenched teeth. Across the city, Caroline pushed open the door of her house and stopped dead in her tracks. What she saw made her blink twice. Snow was in her house. The once-cute pup had grown to the size of a young horse—strong, beautiful, and full of attitude. Every time Tyler took her out, the soldiers in the shelter would come running over just to admire her, saying how amazing she looked. A few days ago, someone in the shelter who studied animals had taken one look and confirmed it. Just as Caroline had suspected all along, Snow was a wolf that lives in snowy regions. And right now, that majestic creature had Raven pinned to the floor. Snow's sharp teeth were bared in warning. Raven, on the other hand, looked utterly calm and almost bored. Even with Snow's heavy paws on his chest, he didn't flinch or fight back. He just gave her that flat, unimpressed stare, like a tired parent dealing with a naughty kid. From the corner, Jet flapped his wings and yelled at the top of his lungs, "Fight! Fight! Fight!" So when Caroline stepped into the doorway, that was the chaos waiting for her—a wolf, a dog, and a parrot turning her living room into a boxing ring.
