Chapter 65 The Boy Who Came to Buy a Company

Even though the company wasn’t big, acquiring it still required a significant amount of money—an amount no high schooler should have been able to afford. The receptionist, Tammy, assumed Arthur was just a mischievous teenager playing a joke. Arthur sighed. Being stuck in a sixteen-year-old body made a lot of things inconvenient. He repeated seriously, “I’m not joking. Please bring your chairman, Mr. Young, out. I’d like to discuss the acquisition.” Tammy’s eyes widened in surprise. He even knew their chairman’s name? As she hesitated about whether to inform her boss, a woman in her late twenties approached. She was wearing a tight-fitting dress, her expression sharp. She frowned and snapped, “Tammy, what are you doing? Why are you wasting time on some high school kid? Don’t you have work to do?” Tammy stiffened at the sight of her. She hesitated before answering, “Cindy, this young man says… he wants to buy our company.” Tammy felt ridiculous even saying it, but she knew Cindy’s temper too well to hide it. “What?” Cindy let out a short laugh, as if she had just heard the funniest joke in the world. She looked Arthur up and down, taking in the school uniform and his still-youthful features. Then she turned to Tammy with disbelief. “Have you lost your mind? You actually believe that? Look at him! Does he look like he has money? At his age, he can’t even support himself!” Her words were so blunt that Tammy’s face turned red with embarrassment. She lowered her head, unsure of what to do. Arthur’s patience was wearing thin. He frowned and said, “You really have no manners. Do you even know how to respect people?” Cindy looked at him in shock, as if she hadn’t expected him to talk back. Tammy frantically shot Arthur warning glances, silently telling him not to provoke her. Cindy was infamous in the company for her sharp tongue. She had climbed to a managerial position thanks to her looks and had a special relationship with the general manager.Because of that, no one in the company dared to cross her. Seeing Arthur remain unmoved, Tammy quickly stepped in. “Cindy, he’s just a kid who doesn’t know any better. Please don’t take it seriously. I’ll ask him to leave right now.” She turned to Arthur and urged, “Buddy, you should go. This isn’t a place for jokes.” She gave him another look, silently pleading for him to listen. Cindy’s temper wasn’t something to mess with. If Arthur stayed any longer, he’d get chewed out for sure. But Arthur had no intention of backing down. Cindy sneered. “A broke little brat like you dares to talk to me about respect?” She eyed him up and down before continuing, “You’re not here to buy anything—you’re probably here to steal something. Why else would a high schooler wander into our company talking about acquisitions? Do you even have a penny to your name? What a joke!” Arthur was speechless for a moment before replying without hesitation, “Wow, the world really is big—there’s no shortage of clowns. Are you in my stomach? Because you sure talk like you know all my business. How do you know I don’t have money?” “You—!” Cindy’s face turned red, then pale with rage. “Who the hell do you think you are?! And who are you calling ma’am?!” Did he seriously just call her ma’am?! Her age was her biggest insecurity! She was still unmarried, and compared to all the younger women in the company, she was one of the older ones. The last thing she wanted was someone reminding her of that. Arthur smirked. “I mean you, ma’am! Your mouth is so foul, if you hadn’t spoken, I would’ve thought you were a pile of garbage. And anyway, given your age, isn’t ma’am the polite thing to call you? Then again, for someone as rude as you, it really is a waste of years. Even Tammy over here is more pleasant to be around.” As he insulted Cindy, Arthur still made sure to compliment Tammy. She was young, but ever since he had stepped inside, she had treated him with respect. Cindy’s face went from red to white, then red again, practically steaming with fury. Tammy lowered her head, shoulders shaking as she tried to hold back laughter. Cindy was notorious for being bossy, constantly pushing her work onto others and speaking in an obnoxious, sarcastic tone. The entire office despised her. But because she was a manager and had a special relationship with the higher-ups, no one dared to talk back. Who would have thought a teenage boy would be the one to finally put her in her place? Arthur turned back to Tammy and urged, “Tammy, please go inform your chairman, Mr. Young. This is urgent.”
