Stronger Every Time I Die
Solivair would never miss a chance to curry favor with Wind. Now that he’d been expelled from Heaven’s Cult, both he and the Tremo family were destined to suffer a steep decline in power. But if he could get Mr. Wind’s support—then Solivair could continue standing at the very top of the world. Right after Solivair appeared, another man ran out from behind him. Arthur squinted and saw clearly—it was Zane! Why was he following Solivair? Had Zac introduced them? That old dog Zane was running fast for someone his age. He rushed up to Solivair’s side, anxiously trying to explain himself. “Mr. Solivair, I don’t know why my son was suddenly stripped of his citizenship. I had nothing to do with it. Please don’t misunderstand—” As expected—Zane only ever cared about one thing, his own interests. Zac had lost his citizenship, and Zane didn’t ask how he was doing, didn’t beg for mercy, didn’t try to protect him. All he cared about was distancing himself from Zac in front of Solivair. One had to wonder—if Zac saw this moment with his own eyes, how would he react? Arthur suddenly gave a dark command to one of his bodyguards. “Go retrieve the security footage from just now. Deliver it to Zac.” The bodyguard took the order and slipped away. No one noticed the quiet exchange. Zane was completely focused on Solivair. Solivair’s attention was entirely fixed on Wind. Solivair didn’t even acknowledge Zane’s words. He impatiently brushed past him and walked straight toward Wind. He gave Wind a respectful bow, then carefully spoke. “Mr. Wind, I didn’t know you’d arrived. Please forgive me for not welcoming you sooner.”Arthur and Ashley were seated inside. Wind and the guards stood outside. From where Solivair stood, he genuinely hadn’t seen Arthur or Ashley yet. He had rushed here so quickly, he hadn’t even had time to check why Wind was at the hospital—he just chased the news straight in. Wind raised an eyebrow. He stared at Solivair with an unreadable expression. “Your son put the young master’s closest people into critical condition, and you still have the gall to stand here and say you didn’t welcome me properly?” Right then, Zane caught up and overheard Wind’s tone. Instantly displeased, he barked, “Who the hell do you think you are, talking to Mr. Solivair like that?!” Zane desperately wanted to win Solivair’s favor. In his heart, he’d prayed again and again that the Zac situation wouldn’t make Solivair misunderstand him. He was so focused on currying favor that he failed to see how Solivair was acting toward Wind. He had also arrived a step behind, and in his rush, hadn’t heard what Solivair had said to Wind earlier. After Zane’s outburst, the hospital hallway fell into dead silence. Wind raised an eyebrow, amused. “Who the hell am I?” Solivair’s face had already turned black with fury. Right then and there, he wanted to kill Zane. If they weren’t in a hospital—if this were his own turf—he would’ve drawn his blade and chopped Zane to pieces. Enraged, Solivair let out two loud smacks—slapping Zane across the face with full force! The slaps landed clean and hard. Bright red prints instantly bloomed on both sides of Zane’s cheeks. Zane stumbled backward and fell flat to the floor. He was completely stunned. Looking up at Solivair with confusion and humiliation, he asked, “Mr. Solivair, why?” He still hadn’t realized who he had just offended. He didn’t even understand that those slaps came from the very words he’d just spoken. In Zane’s mind, Solivair already had unmatched power in Evergrand City. He hadn’t even considered that the person who had stripped Zac’s citizenship… might be standing right in front of him. After hitting Zane, Solivair immediately bowed to Wind again, nodding like a bobblehead. “Mr. Wind, I’m so sorry—truly sorry. He didn’t know who you were. He didn’t mean to offend. Please—however you want to handle it, I’ll follow your lead!” Without hesitation, Solivair threw Zane under the bus. Zane watched in shock as Solivair grovelled to Wind, his eyes practically bulging out of his head. Not just Zane—Finley, who’d been on the verge of exploding, was also dumbfounded. To them, Solivair was all-powerful—the most influential man in Evergrand City. Even after Finley had kidnapped Mr. Hugo and Principal Mateo, he still believed that as long as Solivair came back, everything would be smoothed over.
