Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur grabbed Taylor’s hand tight. “Taylor, bro! It’s me! I’m back! Arthur is back!” His voice rang out like a war drum—loud, clear, and powerful. It didn’t just shake Taylor’s heart. It struck straight through the hearts of Finley, Zac, Henry, and every one of those bullies standing in the schoolyard. Arthur had returned. Taylor, eyes filled with tears, threw his arms around Arthur, pounding weakly at his shoulder. “You’re finally back! You’re finally back!! Where the hell did you go? I was so damn worried!” He broke down in sobs. Two months of bottled-up fear and despair finally came pouring out. Arthur felt a sharp stab of guilt. To keep Taylor safe, he hadn’t told him about Heaven Island—just that he’d be gone for a while, maybe a month or two. Before Arthur could say anything more, Zac and Henry snapped out of their shock. They stared at Arthur, their faces twisted in rage and disbelief. “Arthur!! So you finally dared to show your face!!” Zac’s voice was venomous, and his glare was full of poison. He was thinking the same thing as Finley. Arthur and Solivair had vanished at the same time. That had to mean something. Arthur must’ve gained Solivair’s trust. Damn him. Zac hadn’t even wanted to fight Arthur anymore—but no matter which path he took, Arthur always ended up in his way. For two whole months, Zac and Finley had been panicking. They’d laughed at Taylor for being abandoned, but deep down, they knew they were the ones who had been cast aside. That fear had eaten away at them. And that’s why they were desperate to know—where had Arthur gone?Meanwhile, Finley had finally picked himself up off the ground. He spat out a mouthful of blood, glaring at Arthur with murder in his eyes. “Arthur! You’ve got a lot of nerve!! You dare lay a hand on me?!” But when he spoke, air whistled through the hole in his mouth—where his front teeth used to be. Everyone blinked. The sudden ridiculousness hit like a punchline. Even now, after two months of turning into a cold-blooded thug, Finley still had that polished, clean-cut look. Plenty of girls had crushed on him just for that. But now—with blood in his mouth and a whistling lisp from his missing teeth? That image shattered completely, especially in the hearts of the girls watching. Finley himself felt the change. He licked the empty spot with his tongue. He looked like a homeless man scrounging for scraps. “Pfft!” Taylor burst into laughter, pointing at Finley without an ounce of pity. “Hahahahahaha! Finley, what happened to your teeth?!” It wasn’t just the front ones—Arthur had knocked out a couple more from the side too. Finley froze in disbelief. But when he saw Taylor laughing, he snapped. “Arthur!! How dare you knock out my teeth!!” But now, Hudson and the others were laughing too—loud and free. Arthur was back. Their anchor was back. What did they have to be afraid of anymore? Hudson had brought plenty of people. And now, even the onlookers couldn’t help but chuckle behind their hands. Finley’s face turned beet red.He was the young master of the Tremo family! When had he ever been humiliated like this?! His eyes turned cold. He glanced at Henry, giving him a silent signal. “Get him!” Henry had been itching for this. He and his goons surged forward at Finley’s command. But in Finley’s glance, there was a deeper message. And Henry—who’d served him for so long—understood it instantly. His eyes glinted with murder. At some point, Henry had swapped his weapon for a blade. He raised the knife high and swung it with full force—straight for the back of Arthur’s head! Henry was right behind Arthur. With the noise around them, Arthur didn’t seem to notice. But Taylor did. His eyes widened in horror. “Arthur! Watch out!” Without thinking, Taylor lunged to shield him—just like last time. He threw his arms around Arthur, ready to take the blow himself. But this time—Arthur didn’t move.
