Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 628 The Breaking Point

As Taylor shouted, he quickly pulled out his phone and pressed a few buttons. But before he could even place the call, Henry lunged forward and snatched it from his hands. “Trying to call the cops? You’ve got some nerve!” With a snarl, Henry kicked him hard in the leg. Taylor grunted in pain and dropped to his knees, unable to stop himself. Finley looked down at him with a smug grin, satisfied with the sight of Taylor kneeling before him. He sneered. “Still not talking? Where the hell did Arthur go?” Arthur’s eyes widened. This was because of him. Taylor gritted his teeth and forced himself upright, shouting, “I told you—I don’t know!” Finley scoffed, a cruel smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “You still think Arthur’s got your back? Still think he’s gonna show up like he used to and pull you out of trouble at the last second?” Then, without warning, Finley raised his foot and kicked him again. “Stop dreaming! Arthur abandoned you long ago! You’re nothing but a pathetic loser left behind!” Taylor stumbled back from the blow. His books scattered across the ground as he fell and landed hard on the pavement. Arthur couldn’t hold back any longer. The moment Taylor dropped to his knees, Arthur was ready to charge forward. But someone beat him to it. Hudson, along with a group of scholarship students Arthur had supported in the past, shoved through the crowd and rushed out to shield Taylor with their bodies. Hudson stood firmly between Finley and Taylor, eyes blazing with fury. “Finley! Just because your family has some money, you think you can do whatever the hell you want? If you want to hurt Taylor, you’ll have to go through me first!”Hudson’s face was still bruised—blue and purple marks that hadn’t yet faded. Arthur’s chest tightened again. They hadn’t just targeted Taylor… they went after Hudson too. Taylor, clutching his aching abdomen, shouted through gritted teeth, “Arthur is my brother! He didn’t abandon me!” Arthur felt a sharp sting at the bridge of his nose. Even now, after all this, Taylor still thought of him as a brother. Arthur had left in a rush. He figured with Mr. Hugo at the school, things would be fine, so he didn’t leave anyone behind to watch over Governance University. But in just two months… everything had fallen apart. He couldn’t help but worry about Mr. Hugo, Mr. Mateo… and Sage. Where were they now? What had happened? There was no way Mr. Hugo would ever let Taylor be treated like this if he were still around. Finley looked at Taylor with open scorn. “He didn’t abandon you? Then why has he been gone for over two months without a single word? You don’t even know where he is. If that’s not being abandoned, what is?” His voice dripped with mockery. Over the past two months, Finley had asked everyone—no one knew where Arthur had gone. All he knew was that shortly after his father kidnapped Arthur, Arthur vanished—and so did his father. Solivair never told him much to begin with. The thought that his father had taken Arthur to do something important drove Finley mad. His father had killed so many people. And yet, after kidnapping Arthur twice, he hadn’t killed him? Finley couldn’t help but suspect—had Arthur and his father come to some sort of agreement? Had Arthur become an ally?Had Solivair started to value Arthur? Even though Finley was his biological son, his father had yet to name a successor for the Tremo family. Deep down, Finley was terrified. There was a wall between him and his father. Though Solivair seemed to favor him on the surface, Finley knew he was being kept in the dark about most things. Just like now—Solivair had disappeared again, and even his own secretary didn’t know where he’d gone. And now, both his father and Arthur had vanished at the same time. Finley was sure they had gone to the same place. Zac’s arrival had already made Finley nervous—but Arthur? Arthur had become a direct threat to his standing. That was too much. So Finley had gone all out, harassing everyone around Arthur to force out his whereabouts. Now, he turned his dangerous gaze to Hudson and the others. Eyes narrowing, he spoke slowly, voice low and threatening. “Hudson… you better think carefully. Do you really want to protect this loser?”
