Stronger Every Time I Die
Everyone gave Arthur and Ashley a thousand reminders—be careful, and if anything happened, call for help immediately. Hugo had dispatched an elite team of bodyguards. As soon as Arthur and Ashley set foot on Heaven Island, they would be stationed around the clock on the nearest coast, keeping watch. If anything unusual occurred, they’d respond immediately. Even though, given the island’s defenses, there was no guarantee they’d be of much use. But this was the most Hugo could possibly do. After expressing their gratitude for Hugo’s help, Arthur and Ashley officially began their journey to Heaven Island. Out on the vast sea— A ship was slowly approaching a certain point far out on the ocean. Arthur and Ashley stood at the bow. They had been sailing for nearly twenty days. This stretch of ocean was much larger than they had imagined. Back on the mainland, people had only heard of the name Heaven Island. No one realized that the island was actually so incredibly far from land. Solivair emerged from the cabin, looked toward the sea ahead, and said, “Up ahead—that’s Heaven Island.” Arthur and Ashley gave Solivair a puzzled look. They had been standing at the bow for a while now, but all they saw ahead was an endless expanse of ocean. Where was the island? Noticing their confusion, Solivair smiled. “You only see endless water out there, right?” He gazed into the nothingness ahead, a trace of wistfulness in his eyes. Without waiting for a response, he continued, “That’s the magic of Heaven Island. From here, you can’t see where it is.” “Oh?” Arthur frowned. “How could you not see an entire island?” Solivair’s smile turned proud. “There’s a constant veil of mist around Heaven Island that never lifts. It’s that mist that causes people to get lost at sea. Without someone to guide the way, no outsider could ever find the island.”Arthur raised an eyebrow. So that’s why! With this mist in place, even if someone wanted to invade the island, they wouldn’t easily be able to find it. The island’s owner had really stumbled upon a one-of-a-kind location. The group fell silent, focusing their attention on the waters ahead. Arthur tried to memorize the direction. If anything bad happened on the island, at least they’d have a chance of finding their way back out. The ship itself wasn’t particularly large—nothing special compared to the massive cruise liners. But it did have six full decks. Inside, the ship was luxuriously appointed. There were several suites, complete with every kind of amenity imaginable. The accommodations were not only incredibly comfortable, but they also had top chefs preparing meals for them. A wide range of gourmet cuisine was available for them to choose from at any time. Even though Arthur and Ashley had traveled a long way, they barely felt tired at all. On one of the cabins was an unassuming symbol. It was round—shaped almost like a sun. Just from the luxury of this ship alone, it was obvious how rich and powerful Heaven’s Cult truly was. The ship continued on for some time before Arthur finally saw a patch of mist ahead. He could vaguely make out a wide expanse of water beyond it. Just as he thought the ship would continue sailing forward into it, it suddenly veered off course. Despite the flat, open sea in front of them, the ship deliberately turned? Arthur couldn’t make sense of the captain’s maneuver. The captain was a stern-looking middle-aged man who rarely left his quarters or spoke to anyone.Arthur had only caught a brief glimpse of him by chance. As the ship turned, Arthur’s surroundings abruptly blurred. A thick fog enveloped him completely—in an instant, he couldn’t see a thing! It was as if they had suddenly entered a sea of clouds. Everything around them had vanished! If he didn’t feel the solid deck under his feet, Arthur might’ve thought he’d been transported somewhere else entirely. With a startled cry, he instinctively reached out toward Ashley. “Ashley!” At the same time, Ashley had been swallowed by the same white fog. As Arthur reached for her, Ashley also reached for him. They had been standing right next to each other. As they both extended their hands, in a split second, their fingers found each other and locked together. And in that moment, with their hands clasped tight, their hearts calmed down instantly.
