Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 560 Bound by Heart

“After several failed attempts, people began calling Heaven Island impenetrable. And thinking about it now, if Heaven’s Cult is the force behind it, it all makes sense.” With power like that, it didn’t matter whether Heaven Island was Heaven’s Cult’s actual headquarters or merely under their protection—either way, it was more than enough to explain why no one could ever take it. Arthur closed the invitation solemnly. “Ashley, this trip to Heaven Island… I’ll go alone. It’s too dangerous. You need to stay safe here.” The moment he said it, Ashley’s expression turned stubborn. “No! I’m going with you!” she exclaimed, grabbing his hand tightly. “Arthur, I promise—I won’t cause trouble.” Arthur gently tried to pry her hand away. “Ashley, this isn’t about trouble. The risks are too high, and we don’t even know what we’re walking into. I can’t let you take that kind of chance.” Heaven’s Cult… no one could say whether they were friend or foe. Until he knew, he couldn’t drag Ashley into the unknown. But Ashley only held on tighter. “You said it yourself,” she shot back. “No matter what storms we face, we face them together. Don’t try to leave me behind!” Arthur was caught between her fingers, her emotions, her will. “Ashley, this time is different. If something happens to me… at least you’ll be safe.” But Ashley’s eyes were already red. Her voice wavered. “Arthur… do you think I could go on living if something happened to you?” Her words struck him like lightning. He immediately gripped her hands in return. “Ashley, don’t say that! You’re your own person—you’re not just an extension of me. Even if I’m not there, you have to live well. You have to survive.” His voice was steady but urgent. He didn’t want her to spiral into anything dark. But Ashley… she wasn’t listening. “Arthur,” she said tearfully, “how can you not understand? My heart, my body, my everything—it’s all yours now. If you’re gone, I’d be nothing more than a shell. What would be the point of living?”She had long given herself to him—heart and soul. She’d just never said it aloud so directly before. Arthur stared at her, stunned. He knew she loved him. But not like this. Not with this kind of fierce, unwavering depth. He let out a helpless sigh, reaching up to gently ruffle her hair. Of course. He should’ve known all along. This silly girl who’d once thrown herself between him and a wild wolf without thinking. She wasn’t good at saying how she felt. But she always showed it. Always. Arthur hesitated. “But I’m still worried about your safety…” Before he could finish, Ashley cut him off. “And if you leave me behind, are you not worried that I’ll get kidnapped again?” Arthur fell silent. She had a point. Solivair was erratic and unpredictable. Once Arthur stepped into Heaven Island, he wouldn’t be able to keep tabs on anything back here. What if Solivair suddenly targeted Ashley again? Arthur didn’t even want to imagine it. Finally, he let out another sigh. “Fine. You can come.” But then he quickly added, “But! You have to be careful! No matter what happens—even if I’m in danger—you cannot throw yourself in harm’s way! Promise me that!” He was a man. He could take a hit. He could heal fast. But Ashley was different. Her body was more delicate, and her wounds wouldn’t recover as quickly. Ashley lit up instantly. She was so happy she looked like she could take flight. She nodded eagerly to everything he said. “Okay! Okay! I promise! I’ll be careful!” She meant it. She really did.But in her heart, she knew—if the time came again, she’d still throw herself in front of him without a second thought. … After settling their plans, the two briefly informed Hugo—and then set off for Heaven Island. Arthur also had a private reason for going. He’d searched nearly every corner of this continent and still found no trace of his grandfather. But Heaven Island… maybe, just maybe, his grandfather was there. When Hugo, Mia, and the others heard Arthur was headed to Heaven Island, they rushed to see him off.
