Stronger Every Time I Die
So if Arthur was in a good mood, he’d share news about Lynn. If not, he’d just ignore him? Solivair had lived his whole life in power—when had he ever been forced to swallow this kind of humiliation? He was already teetering on the edge of fury, but Arthur, acting completely oblivious, replied with casual indifference. “That’s right.” That offhand answer nearly made Solivair’s face twist from rage. “Arthur! Know your place!” he bellowed. Solivair couldn’t even remember the last time he’d gotten this angry. At his level, few dared to provoke him. But this kid—this Arthur—kept pushing him again and again! He was beyond infuriating! But Arthur didn’t flinch. “My place? Mr. Solivair, I’m the one who can help you find your daughter. I suggest you figure out who I am.” By the end of the sentence, Arthur’s voice had risen with anger. He had helped Solivair, yet the man had hurt him repeatedly. Taylor still carried injuries. Here they were, trapped in a half-finished, abandoned building, surrounded by Solivair’s bodyguards, their lives hanging by a thread. Was that how you treated someone trying to help you? Solivair’s rage was doused like cold water thrown over flames. It deflated him. Just then, Ashley spoke up at the perfect moment. “Mr. Solivair, I can see how much you love your daughter. But the way you’ve acted makes me question that love.” Her words were sharp—like a dagger straight to his heart. After a long silence, Solivair finally let out a heavy sigh. His fiery posture collapsed. His shoulders slumped. He turned to the nearby bodyguards and said, “Let them go.” In the end, Solivair’s love for his daughter triumphed over everything else. His pride meant nothing compared to Lynn. Right now, the only thing that mattered was finding her. For that, he was willing to compromise. As Solivair finally relented, the three of them exhaled with relief. Once the bodyguards untied them, Arthur added, “Mr. Solivair, I will do my best to find your daughter. But if I discover that you’ve sent someone to tail me, this cooperation is over. I will never share another word about her with you. Also, to prevent you from turning on me once I find her, I need to become stronger. Strong enough to protect myself from you. If you can’t accept that, then we end this right now.” As he spoke, Arthur spread his arms, as if daring Solivair to do his worst. He was betting everything on one thing—if he could bring Solivair’s daughter back, the man would agree to anything. Solivair was so furious, steam could’ve been pouring from his ears. Was this kid serious? They were still enemies! And Arthur wanted him—his enemy—to help him grow stronger? Stronger to the point where he could challenge Solivair himself? Did Arthur even understand what he was saying?! If it were anyone else, Solivair would’ve already drawn a blade and chopped them into pieces. But somehow, when it came to Arthur’s shameless face… he could only grit his teeth and hold it in. Solivair hissed through clenched teeth, “You want me to help you get stronger? How?” If looks could kill, Arthur would be ashes. But Arthur ignored the glare like it didn’t exist. “I want you to introduce me to the organization you belong to. Introduce me to your boss.” The moment he said it, everyone froze. Even Ashley and Taylor looked like their souls had left their bodies. The surrounding bodyguards immediately reached for their weapons, hands sliding toward their belts, ready to turn Arthur into a bullet-riddled corpse. “Arthur!!!” Solivair’s explosive roar shook the hollow walls of the abandoned building. “You’ve gone too far!!!” He was ready to explode. He had never seen anyone so outrageous. So shameless. Did Arthur even hear what he was saying? He was demanding to be introduced into the organization? Did he actually intend to come in and compete with him? Maybe even take his place? Did he not understand who he was? Worse—did he not understand who Solivair was? Solivair was respected by all, feared by the elite of Evergrand City. And this kid was asking to be his equal?
