Stronger Every Time I Die
The thought of being arrested by the police sent a wave of panic through the students. If they were caught, it would destroy their future. They were just ordinary children from regular families. Their parents had worked hard to send them to Governance University, making great sacrifices. They were not like Finley, who came from a powerful family and had nothing to fear. They were just kids from humble homes. If their parents found out they had been arrested by the police, especially for extortion, what would happen? Their parents would surely break their legs! They had spent so much time studying at Governance University, and regardless of their grades, they knew what it would mean if they were caught for extortion. They could not bear that kind of accusation. Their families could not bear it either. If they were truly arrested for extortion, their future would be ruined beyond imagination. As the realization hit them, some could not hold up any longer. Those with weaker nerves immediately knelt down in front of Arthur, begging for forgiveness. After a flurry of apologies, they turned to flee. But at that moment, Arthur had already hung up the phone and was standing firmly at the door, blocking their exit. The group froze. Everyone was stunned, staring at Arthur. Arthur watched them with a faint smile. His arms crossed casually over his chest, his calm demeanor was a stark contrast to the group's panic and fear. "You gathered so many people and surrounded me in my office, all to pressure me into lending you money," he said, his voice even and steady. "Did you ever stop to consider how I might feel? Did you realize that you were trying to force me into submission simply because you outnumbered me?" As he spoke, the faces of the group changed. Their eyes began to shift uneasily, unable to meet Arthur's gaze. They knew. They knew exactly what they had been doing. They were all adults now. Everyone should take responsibility for their actions. Before coming to Arthur's office, they were fully aware that they were using moral coercion, trying to intimidate him into giving in simply because they were in greater numbers. Some had come because they had received financial help from Finley and felt obliged to return the favor. Others were just here to see if they could get some money for themselves. But regardless of the reason, their actions were undeniably a form of extortion. They had tried to pressure Arthur into giving them money, and if the police were called, they had no defense. Henry could see that the situation was slipping away from him. He pushed through the crowd and walked up to Arthur, his eyes filled with anger and resentment. He had figured it out. Arthur was doing this on purpose. He had allowed them to come in, let them say everything they had planned, and then called the police. It was a clear trap! Henry glared at Arthur, wishing he could kill him with his stare. "You'd better move out of the way and let us out," Henry growled through gritted teeth. Arthur raised an eyebrow but did not budge. "You couldn't extort anything from me, and now that the police are on their way, you want to run?" His tone was as cold as ever, sending a chill down everyone's spine. The group realized their mistake. They should not have listened to Henry and come to block Arthur's office, asking for financial help. This was nothing short of extortion. They had not expected that Arthur would react so quickly, without any warning, and call the police. Now, the idea of getting arrested by the police felt like a nightmare they could not wake up from. They could not imagine the consequences. Some looked at Henry with eyes filled with anger and resentment; others, more timid, turned back to Arthur and kowtowed repeatedly. "Arthur, I didn't mean any harm; please let me go. I can't be arrested by the police! If I'm caught, my life will be ruined!" As the pleading grew louder, a boy started to cry, tears and snot pouring down his face as he sobbed, pleading incoherently. Once one person began, others followed suit. They too knelt and begged for forgiveness, their voices trembling. "Arthur, I really didn't mean it! Please, have mercy! My father will kill me if I'm caught by the police! Please, let me go!" The sounds of desperate pleas and incessant kowtows filled the Student Council President's office, a cacophony of guilt and regret.
