Stronger Every Time I Die
Fortunately, the first time he made contact, he had successfully sent out their location, which was accurate. Outside the cabin, in the canyon, while there were no large animals, they occasionally spotted some wild rabbits. The bodyguards, skilled in survival tactics, managed to catch several wild rabbits to ease their craving for fresh food. Timothy eyed the rabbits enviously. "We've been eating dry food for three days, and my throat is about to give out. Since there are so many rabbits, why don't we roast a couple?" The others, hearing this, couldn't help but salivate. They had indeed been eating dry food for three full days and were longing for something hot. Though tempted, the group firmly shook their heads. "No, we're in the forest, how can we just start a fire? Besides, what if it attracts wild animals?" "What’s there to fear?" Timothy said nonchalantly. "With all these traps around, Mr. Benjamin lived here safely and he cooked by fire all the time without any issues. If it was safe for him, it should be for us too. Plus, if we clear a space around, we don’t have to worry about starting a forest fire." Pausing, Timothy then added, "We’ve finally got a chance to relax; can't we roast some meat to nourish the injured among us?" Timothy’s words swayed the group. Indeed, even if they didn't eat, the injured among them needed better nourishment. They had lost so much blood and were still eating only dry food; it was particularly concerning for Ashley, a frail woman, to endure this. After a consensus, Timothy quickly cleared an area. A nearby stream made it easy to process the game. It had to be said, the spot picked by Arthur’s grandfather was indeed a gem. The surrounding canyon acted as a natural barrier, normal animals couldn’t enter, and with additional traps, the canyon was almost a paradise in the forest. The group had lighters, and a fire was quickly started. Timothy skinned the rabbits, removed their innards, and set them to roast over the fire. Soon, a delicious aroma began to spread.Arthur, who was inside the cabin with Ashley, noticed wisps of smoke and asked in confusion, "Where is that smoke coming from?" The team leader peered out the window and saw Timothy and others roasting the rabbits. Shocked, he yelled, "What are you doing!" Hearing the team leader’s shout, Arthur had a bad feeling. He peered out another window and was startled. Without hesitation, Arthur shouted, "Put out the fire now!" Startled by Arthur’s urgent and serious demeanor, those roasting the rabbits immediately extinguished the fire. Timothy, seeing the fire he had just managed to start being put out so abruptly, couldn’t help but yell, "What are you doing! I just got it going, why put it out?" His outburst surprised everyone. As bodyguards, their first duty was to obey commands. But Timothy, having repeatedly questioned orders, was now shouting about it! Arthur’s cold eyes fixed on him. Timothy, caught by Arthur’s gaze, panicked, his eyes flickering with alarm. But he stiffened his neck and said, "Some of us are injured, I thought roasting some rabbits might help strengthen them." Under Arthur’s icy stare, Timothy faltered. Arthur spoke coldly, "Extinguish all embers!" "Yes!" The bodyguards obeyed, hastily covering the fire with dirt, burying the partially cooked rabbits underneath. Arthur stepped down from the cabin, immediately surveying the surroundings. He also called out loudly, "Everyone, grab your weapons and be on alert!" Checking the time, there was still a while before the helicopter would arrive. Arthur prayed inwardly that nothing would happen in the meantime. Though the wolves had dispersed, Arthur had an uneasy feeling.Ashley had already been injured once and was very weak; he couldn't bear the thought of her getting hurt again. Ashley clutched Arthur’s hand, sensing something was wrong too. Arthur, concerned, instructed her, "Ashley, go back inside the cabin, lock the doors and windows, and no matter what happens, don't come out!" Ashley, startled, protested, "No! I want to stay with you!"
