Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 485 Wolves, Blood, and Survival

The wolves' sense of smell was incredibly sharp, and from a distance, they had already picked up the unfamiliar scent. The sky had already dimmed. As the sound of the wolves' growls grew nearer, Ashley became desperate. "Arthur! Run! Don't worry about me!" After hours of running, Ashley could clearly feel that her stamina was no match for Arthur's. And on top of that, her foot had been injured during the run! Arthur froze in shock. Without a second thought, he responded, "What are you saying? I can't leave you behind!" Without hesitation, Arthur slowed his pace, grabbed Ashley's hand, and they continued to run toward the cave. As they got closer to the entrance, the group could feel the pressure from the approaching wolves growing stronger and stronger. They did not dare to look back; they could only run as fast as they could toward the cave. Just when they were about two or three meters from the entrance, Arthur suddenly felt a sharp, heavy pressure from behind! The next second… "Watch out." Ashley leaped forward, throwing herself at Arthur in a desperate attempt to shield him. "Ah!" With Ashley's scream, a warm, red spray splattered across Arthur's face, a horrifying sight! "Ashley!" Arthur shouted her name in terror. In a split second, he flipped over and caught Ashley just before she collapsed onto the ground. When he saw the wolf hanging from Ashley's arm, Arthur instinctively swung his fist with all his might, striking the wolf in the eyes. The wolf released its grip in pain. The bodyguards, quick to react, raised their rifles and aimed at the wolf. With a burst of blood, the wolf's head was blown off. Ashley's bitten arm was exposed in front of Arthur. In that instant, Arthur's eyes turned red. Ashley's arm bore two deep, bloody holes, and a large chunk of flesh had almost been torn off! Arthur was paralyzed by the horrifying sight in front of him. Ashley's arm had gone numb from the pain, and as soon as the wolf released its grip, an intense, stabbing pain surged through her entire body. Fortunately, the bodyguards had plenty of ammunition. While shooting down the wolves, one of them urgently shouted, "Mr. Gray! You need to get into the cave!!" Without a moment's hesitation, Arthur immediately scooped up Ashley and sprinted toward the cave. He shouted as he ran, "Be careful!!" The entrance to the cave was narrow, just wide enough for one person to pass through. After entering, Arthur discovered that the cave inside was surprisingly spacious! Once he confirmed it was safe, Arthur quickly shouted out to the bodyguards outside, "Hurry in! It's safe in here!" The bodyguards responded immediately, continuing to kill the remaining wolves as they retreated toward the cave. The bodyguards were all skilled fighters, each chosen by Arthur for their abilities. They had brought the rifles just as a precaution. They never expected that those very rifles would save their lives. These rifles had been acquired by Arthur through some means. Arthur pressed down on Ashley's wound, not wasting a second. With a swift motion, he tore off a piece of cloth from his shirt and quickly bandaged her arm. The wound was deep and agonizing. It was a pain Ashley had never experienced before. But seeing the redness in Arthur's eyes and the slight tremble in his hands, Ashley bit her lip, fighting back the urge to scream in pain. Once he had finished bandaging her, Arthur hurriedly searched the cave for a water source. Earlier, when they first entered, he had heard the sound of flowing water! Ashley's wound needed to be cleaned and disinfected immediately. If it became infected out here, in this desolate wilderness, it could be a fatal threat to her. Arthur could not afford to think about anything else. He forced himself to stay calm and focused, listening intently for the faint sound of water. After a moment of concentration, Arthur heard the sound of running water again. Without hesitation, he picked up Ashley and rushed toward the source of the sound. With a strong flashlight strapped to his head, he was able to navigate the dark cave. The bodyguards followed closely behind. Once the last one entered the cave, they quickly began blocking the entrance with large stones. The wolf pack was simply too numerous. Even though they had plenty of bullets, they could not afford to waste them all on the wolves. Even if they left tomorrow, they might still face danger along the way. They had to make sure they left themselves an escape route. The wolves, meanwhile, seemed crazed. They prowled the forest in increasing numbers, and none of them had suffered such heavy casualties before.
