Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 402 A Brother’s Loyalty

Arthur had been planning this for a long time. He had lived through hard times—he knew what it was like to work for others, to depend on someone else’s mood just to make a living. There were times when you had no choice but to swallow your anger after being humiliated by a boss or a coworker, all for the sake of a measly paycheck. Arthur understood that frustration all too well. Taylor’s sincerity had never gone unnoticed by him, but he had never found the right opportunity to give him money before. Arthur had already guessed that Taylor wouldn’t accept it willingly. But after everything that had happened—the kidnapping, the injuries—Taylor had become more important to Arthur than his own life. This amount of money wasn’t a big deal for him, but if it could keep them from struggling, from enduring hardship, then no matter what, Arthur had to make sure they took it. He didn’t give more because he knew if he did, they would outright refuse. If Taylor really decided to be stubborn, Arthur would have a headache dealing with him. Taylor stared at the notification on his phone in shock. "Two hundred thousand! Arthur, why are you giving me so much money!" He refused to accept it, reaching for his phone to send the money back. He already felt guilty about taking the million for their parents. How could he possibly take another two hundred thousand? He had a scholarship. Now that their parents had the million, he didn’t need to send them his scholarship money anymore. He had more than enough for himself. Arthur quickly pressed down on Taylor’s hand, his expression serious. "I already said, if you don’t take it, that means you don’t see me as a brother." Taylor looked at Arthur’s serious expression, suddenly unsure of what to do. Arthur patted his hand reassuringly and said sincerely, "Taylor, after everything you’ve done for me, I’ve already treated you as my brother for a long time. And brothers share everything, right? Since I’ve been lucky enough to make some money, how could I stand by and watch you struggle because of it? I know you have a scholarship, but it’s not much. Just take this—use it to buy gifts for your parents during the holidays, or get something for yourself. As long as you have it, I’ll feel at ease." Arthur’s words were so sincere that Taylor hesitated. He suddenly lowered his head, and when he spoke again, his voice was choked with emotion. "Arthur… you’re really good to me." Of course, Taylor knew what Arthur was doing. And his heart felt warm because of it. To have a brother like Arthur in this lifetime—he was truly lucky. Arthur patted his shoulder. "Alright, enough with the waterworks. You’re a grown man. Get some rest, I’m heading back to my dorm." Before Taylor could say anything, Arthur had already rushed out the door. The moment he got back to his dorm, Arthur wasted no time in video calling Ashley. He hadn’t been able to call her while he was in the hospital, and after a few days without seeing her, he was going crazy. If it weren’t for Solivair and everything happening around them, Arthur would’ve flown to her side immediately just to hold her in his arms. But even more than missing her, he was worried about her safety. Nothing was more important than that. They had both been so busy with school that they hadn’t even found time to meet in person. They had agreed to finish their studies first before spending time together. But after experiencing life and death, Arthur regretted it. He shouldn’t have put school before Ashley. As soon as things settled down, he was going to find her, hold her, and feel her warmth in his arms. Ashley was also a special admissions student at Skyward Academy University, which meant she had her own dorm. That made their video calls much easier. The moment the call connected, Ashley’s breathtaking face appeared on the screen. Her voice was always soft and sweet when she spoke to Arthur. "It’s been days, and you finally have time to video call me?" Arthur could hear the slight pout in her voice, and he quickly coaxed her with a doting tone. "It really wasn’t convenient these past few days. There were a bunch of guys around me, and I didn’t want them seeing how beautiful you are." Whenever Arthur spoke to Ashley, his voice naturally softened. Every time they video-called, Ashley was always so relaxed. She would act spoiled, ask for hugs, and they’d always say sweet things to each other. There was no way he’d let anyone else see her like that. Not just men—he wouldn’t even let women see. Hearing his explanation, whatever tiny bit of frustration Ashley had disappeared instantly. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she huffed, "You and that silver tongue of yours." Arthur’s body heated up at the sight of her bashful expression. He wished he could fly straight to her and steal a kiss right now.
