Stronger Every Time I Die
Yet, he didn't understand why the officer was trying to snatch Arthur's phone. After all, the surveillance footage Arthur was playing was the best evidence for the scene, which they should have protected and allowed to play to completion. Why is he attempting to take Arthur's phone instead? Arthur had been purely defensive, not striking back. The surrounding officers looked at each other, puzzled. They weren't worried about Arthur running away; although he was dodging, he showed no signs of trying to escape. After the officer fell, he quickly went to help him up. "Dean, why did you start a fight with Arthur?" Dean, the officer with a trace of blood at his mouth but ignoring it to point at Arthur, urgently said, "Quick! Stop him!" But before they could act, a series of gasps and screams erupted from the crowd. "Oh my God! How could this be?" "I saw it! I just saw it! It was Kent! We wronged Arthur all along!" "How is this possible? Finley wouldn’t do such a thing!" "No! I don’t believe it! How could our Finley deliberately frame Arthur?" "Oh no! How could this be? Did Finley deceive all of us?" "No! It can't be! It must be Kent acting on his own!" "But why would Kent do this? What does he gain from it?" The police followed the noise and looked toward the big screen. Suddenly, Kent’s figure appeared on the large screen! When the officers looked over, they saw Kent falling next to Arthur. In that moment of falling, Kent stealthily slipped something into Arthur’s pocket! Although it wasn’t clear what it was, the familiar blue shimmer was unmistakable—it was Finley’s lost ring! The crowd’s screams were relentless, and Finley swayed, nearly losing his balance. His face went pale, and cold sweat streamed down his forehead, soaking his back. Meanwhile, Kent was nearly hysterical. People around him quickly stepped back, keeping at least 6 feet away. Just like that, he was suddenly isolated, with the crowd forming a circle around him. They covered their mouths in disbelief, looking at him with eyes full of fear and caution. It was as if he were some terrible monster, a dangerous robber, a thief! They were terrified he might steal their belongings too! Kent looked around, trying to find any classmates from before to explain. But those classmates now avoided him like the plague, fearful of being associated with him. Kent was losing it. Unlike Finley, who had grown up in a wealthy family, accustomed to careful grooming and possessing a strong mentality, Kent was just an ordinary guy. His grades were average, his family was average, and his attendance at Governance University was partly due to sheer luck and partly thanks to Finley's help. He was completely panicked now. The looks from the people around him were like those wary of a ticking time bomb, and he couldn’t stand it! Kent’s eyes widened in fear as he stared at the big screen, shouting like a madman. "No! No! It’s not like this! This video is fake! It must be fake!" Suddenly, as if grasping at straws, he rushed toward Finley. He had thought Finley would surely protect him, but to his shock, at the moment he charged toward Finley, Finley unexpectedly stepped back! Kent's stride halted abruptly. He stood at one edge of the stage, incredulously looking at Finley. His voice trembling, he called out, "Finley?" No, he and Finley were supposed to be in this together; it was Finley who had instructed him to do this! He wasn’t the mastermind! Finley was the esteemed young master of the Tremo family, omnipotent and powerful; he surely had a way out. Right! He must have a way out. Realizing this, Kent suddenly calmed down. He couldn't panic now; he couldn't add to Finley's troubles. At the same time, he caught Finley’s glance. Kent suddenly looked back at the big screen. Resuming his usual expression, he condemned, "Arthur, I don't know how you came up with this video, but I can tell everyone here, this video is fake!" Kent's assertive voice once again stirred considerable unrest in the crowd.
