Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 340 Bushes and Blushes

"Could it be you're in a childhood betrothal arranged by your family?" Taylor speculated thoughtfully. "No, I met my fiancee a couple of years ago," Arthur quickly corrected Taylor's wild guesses. "You started dating on your own?" Taylor was shocked. "Aren't you a bit mature for your age? A couple of years ago? So, you were dating at sixteen?" "Yeah," Arthur nodded honestly. Taylor was genuinely taken aback by Arthur's revelation! "Oh my! You started dating at sixteen, and by eighteen, you were engaged and had a fiancee!" Taylor sighed dramatically. "I'm nineteen, and I haven’t even touched a girl yet!" Arthur fell silent. After a moment, he tried to offer some consolation, "These things are all about fate. You're still young; you just haven't met the right one yet. When you do, you’ll find someone." "Fate?" Taylor was puzzled by the concept. Arthur nodded, "Yes, my relationship with Ashley is all because of fate." "Ashley? That’s your fiancee's name?" Speaking of Ashley softened Arthur’s expression, "Yeah, it’s a beautiful name, isn’t it?" Seeing his expression, Taylor couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Showing off your romance in front of me? Taylor decisively slapped Arthur on the shoulder, "Come on! Help me find my fate!" Among his peers, many already had girlfriends. Taylor had never been interested before, but seeing Arthur's tender yet manly demeanor had sparked something in him. He wanted to find a gentle girlfriend too! To truly experience what love felt like! And when he did, he’d show off his relationship right in front of all the single folks—make them green with envy! Arthur stood his ground, "If you're looking for fate, why do I have to come with you?" As he spoke, Arthur turned to leave, "I'd rather go back to my studies." "Hey, hey, wait a minute," Taylor quickly grabbed Arthur."What is it?" Arthur stopped. After hesitating for a while, Taylor finally spoke sheepishly. "I'm, well, I'm embarrassed." Hearing this, Arthur was surprised. "You? Embarrassed? Since when are you shy?" "Heh," Taylor sheepishly scratched his head, "I’ve never done this sort of thing; of course, I'm embarrassed!" Unable to withstand Taylor’s persistent cajoling, Arthur reluctantly agreed to go along. On a small path near the school entrance, Taylor pulled Arthur behind a clump of bushes, sneakily watching the girls entering the campus. Arthur watched Taylor’s sneaky behavior with disbelief. "Do we really have to skulk around here like thieves?" Taylor, fixated on the girls, corrected him seriously, "This isn't sneaking! It’s called lying in ambush! We're waiting for the target to appear!" Despite it being September, the weather was still swelteringly hot. The sun was high in the sky, and they had no large trees for cover, only short bushes that barely hid their bodies; they were practically baking under the sun. Arthur, dragged by Taylor to crouch here, felt both hot and stifled. Taylor, however, was patient. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and kept his eyes peeled. But before he could spot his ideal girl, an ill-timed voice rang out behind them. "Taylor? Arthur? What are you guys sneaking around here for?" Finley's voice was loud, and at his words, a crowd of freshmen at the entrance turned their attention toward them. The girls, seeing someone hidden behind the bushes watching them, screamed in alarm. "Ahh! Perverts!" One scream set off a chain reaction, and the others panicked like startled birds. The person in charge of welcoming the freshmen, Everest, immediately scowled."What's going on here?" he demanded angrily. He was already displeased about being assigned to guide the new students. Now, this incident was making things worse. Such an event was damaging to the school's reputation, especially for the freshmen just starting their journey. As Finley successfully drew everyone’s attention, a hint of a smirk played at the corners of his mouth. By now, the newcomers had gathered around, including those who had walked a bit of distance, all drawn by the commotion. The crowd, seeing Arthur and Taylor stand up, immediately began to whisper and point. "I thought I saw them when I entered, but I was in a hurry to register and didn't pay much attention. So there really were people watching us!" "My God! This is Governance University! To think there are perverts in such a prestigious institution!"
