Chapter 333 Mateo Takes No Nonsense

Let Taylor explain? How could he just listen to one side of the story? What if Taylor twisted the truth? Mateo glanced up at Everest. Everest instantly shut his mouth. Mateo’s expression was far too serious—more serious than Everest had ever seen before. Taylor smirked but didn’t beat around the bush. He straightforwardly repeated everything that had just happened. When he finished, Mateo simply nodded and said, "I understand. I’ll handle this matter seriously." Everest stared at him in shock. No way! Is Mateo really just going to take their word for it? Isn’t he supposed to be the most impartial person at Governance University? How could someone like him be so biased? Unable to hold back, Everest blurted, "Mr. Mateo! Those four students were seriously injured! One of them was even bleeding!" Mateo suddenly turned his sharp gaze on Everest. "Then tell me, Mr. Everest—if someone attacks you, what do you do?" Everest was stunned by the question. Mateo continued, "Are you supposed to just stand there and take the beating?" Arthur raised an eyebrow, glancing at Mateo in surprise. This principal… actually has some common sense? Everest opened and closed his mouth a few times before finally squeezing out, "But this is a school… they shouldn’t have injured them so badly." The moment those words left his mouth, Mateo’s expression darkened. He slammed his palm on the desk. "So what if it’s a school? If they didn’t want to get hurt, they shouldn’t have gone around provoking fights! They’re in college, about to step into society! Do you think the real world will go easy on them? Mr. Everest, do you not understand something as simple as that?" Everest was completely stunned by the scolding. Mateo waved his hand impatiently. "Enough. I’ll have someone look into this properly. We’ll know the truth once the investigation is complete."He shot Everest a look, signaling for him to drop the matter. When Mateo turned back to Arthur and Taylor, his expression softened into something much kinder. "Taylor, Arthur, you two can head back for now. Don’t worry—I’ll let you know as soon as I have an update." Everest stood frozen, dumbfounded as he watched Mateo’s attitude take a drastic turn. This… this isn’t how it was supposed to go at all! Taylor simply nodded. "Alright, we’ll be waiting for the good news." As he spoke, he flashed a playful smile, looking as relaxed as if he were chatting with an old friend. Mateo chuckled in response. He already knew the truth. Those four students? They are Finley’s die-hard supporters. The only reason they pick a fight is because Hugo has taken in a new student, and Finley is unhappy about it. They have probably gone to teach Arthur a lesson on Finley’s behalf. It was a good thing Arthur was capable—otherwise, his precious Taylor would have been the one getting hurt! And if that had happened, he would have been the one in trouble! Taylor might have come from an ordinary family, but at Governance University, he was invaluable. The school was primarily known for its law program, and while they had a computer science department, it had never been their strong suit. In the past, the school had to pay a fortune to hire security experts to protect their network, but even then, hackers had managed to break in. Then Taylor arrived. His talent was quickly recognized, and he personally fixed all the security vulnerabilities in the system. Ever since then, the school had never suffered another cyber attack. A student like that? Of course, Mateo treasured him. Besides, Mateo knew Taylor’s personality well. Because of confidentiality issues, Taylor’s classmates misunderstood him, and as a result, he didn’t have many friends. But despite that, he was a kind and simple-hearted kid. Lively, yes—but never one to pick fights. After leaving the office, Arthur couldn’t help but ask, "I took a look earlier—there aren’t any surveillance cameras in that area. Are we really in the clear?" Taylor patted Arthur’s shoulder reassuringly. "Relax. Mr. Mateo knows exactly what’s going on. He’ll find a way to uncover the truth. We don’t need to worry about it."Hearing that, Arthur finally felt what it meant to be one of Hugo’s students. Mateo had sided with them without hesitation—and a big part of that was because of Hugo. Of course, an even bigger reason was Taylor. They didn’t even need to ask their senior, Mia, for help. Mateo had handled everything for them. Arthur suddenly felt like he could walk around school without a care in the world! Taylor threw an arm around Arthur’s shoulder like a close friend. "Arthur, those moves you pulled back there were amazing! Can you teach me?"
