Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 327 Geniuses Don’t Grind, They Glide!

It was obvious that Taylor had a deep appreciation for the school's cafeteria! Through Taylor, Arthur learned something surprising. That student, Finley, who had taken him to meet Hugo, was actually the student council president! He came from a wealthy family, had good looks, and carried himself with elegance. On top of that, he was an excellent student. Not only had he been elected as the student council president, but he was also considered the most handsome guy at Governance University—the dream guy of countless girls on campus. However, it seemed that Taylor wasn’t particularly fond of him. Taylor leaned in mysteriously and whispered to Arthur, "Finley? He dreams of becoming Mr. Hugo’s student!" Arthur raised an eyebrow. "He’s got an impressive resume. Why didn’t Mr. Hugo accept him?" Teaching one student or two didn’t make much of a difference, and Finley was the student council president. He seemed like a decent person. Taylor scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Do you really think Mr. Hugo takes in just anyone? Those of us who became his students had to overcome incredible challenges and endure countless hardships before he deemed us worthy. And Finley? Sure, he’s got good grades and looks decent, but what else? He hasn’t contributed anything to the school. Mr. Hugo isn’t just some regular teacher—he holds an official position in Evergrand City. He only teaches here in his spare time, and not just one subject—he covers every discipline at Governance University. Some of the subjects he teaches aren’t even officially part of the curriculum. You really think he’d just take on a student like it’s no big deal?" Arthur was surprised. He hadn't known any of this. So Mr. Hugo is this talented? It seemed like he had truly lucked out! "Countless hardships? What do you mean?" Hearing that, Taylor became more animated, his usual playful demeanor replaced with a rare seriousness. He pointed a finger at himself. "Take me, for example. Mr. Hugo said I have an exceptional talent for computer science. The entire Governance University security system? I’m the one responsible for it." Arthur stared at him in shock. This cheerful, innocent-looking Taylor—who seemed like just a kid—was actually that impressive?Governance University was the most prestigious institution in Lioran. Many professors even conducted research and academic discussions here, making its security system of the utmost importance. And yet, the person in charge of it all was this bright, energetic Taylor? Taylor scratched his head with a hint of melancholy. "But because of confidentiality and security reasons, I can't tell anyone about it. To this day, some people still think I'm Mr. Hugo's most useless student." Arthur nodded in agreement. It made sense. Taylor was simple and kind—if the wrong people found out about his involvement, it could lead to unnecessary trouble. "Then why are you telling me this?" Arthur asked. After all, they had only known each other for less than an hour! Taylor flashed his signature toothy grin and clapped Arthur on the shoulder. "Because you're our junior! Everyone in our group knows each other inside and out." "But we've only just met?" Arthur asked, still astonished. This was a major secret—something that had to be kept confidential. Yet, Taylor had told him without hesitation? Taylor’s grin didn’t falter. "Come on, you were personally brought back by Mr. Hugo. Do you think his judgment could ever be wrong? If your character wasn’t up to standard, do you think he would have taken you in as his student?" Character? That word confused Arthur even more. He had only interacted with Hugo for a few hours at most. After confirming everything yesterday, they had left. Counting both yesterday and today, they had spent less than half a day together. And he hadn’t done anything particularly special either. Seeing Arthur’s confusion, Taylor patted him on the shoulder again. "Don't overthink it. Mr. Hugo is a genius! He’s incredibly sharp. Just one look, and he can tell exactly what kind of person you are. He doesn’t need any long interactions to figure it out." Taylor already liked his new junior and was more than happy to be open with him. The other two were always too cold—whenever he tried to talk to them, they were either reading books or buried in their own research, barely acknowledging him. He had been holding it all in for so long! Because he was one of Hugo's students, he didn’t have any other friends at Governance University. Now that Arthur was here, Taylor finally had someone to talk to properly. Taylor continued his introductions. "Sage, our senior, he’s a true academic genius! You could say that Governance University’s rise to the number one spot in Lioran in just three years is largely thanks to him. The papers he published were even included in the university’s textbooks!" Arthur was stunned.
