Stronger Every Time I Die
When the time came, the Yarbrough family would no longer need Zoey! Zane had promised that once that happened, he would divorce Zoey and marry Renee in a grand ceremony. But who could have predicted that Arthur would appear out of nowhere and save the Gibson family in an instant? Ever since Arthur showed up, Zane hadn't visited Renee once. He hadn’t even reached out to her! Of course, she hated Arthur. But more than anything, Renee cared about whether she could enter the Yarbrough family with a legitimate status. She had thought about Zac’s words, but compared to him, she trusted Zane and the two brothers, Stephen and Maris, more. Even though those two were Zoey’s sons and Renee could never truly like them, she had to admit—they had been raised in Seacity under Zane’s meticulous guidance. Compared to Zac, they were undoubtedly more capable. Zac stared at Renee in disbelief, his entire body trembling. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Sell my shares, just to use the money to make Zane take us more seriously? "Mom... what did you just say? And what if, after we sell the shares, he still refuses to acknowledge us?" Zac locked eyes with Renee as he asked. Renee fell silent. Gray Corporation had already declined. Compared to the Yarbrough family’s assets and Zoey’s wealth, the shares Zac owned were insignificant. She had no guarantee that selling those shares—or getting that money—would make Zane see them in a different light. But she wasn’t willing to give up. She had to do something. Renee opened her mouth. "We have to at least try. What if we get an opportunity?" Zac fell silent, too. After a long pause, he let out a sigh. "Mom, we don’t need him to acknowledge us. We have shares now. I own a company under my name! We can build our own business. If we succeed, he’ll have no choice but to respect us." Hearing this, Renee abruptly lifted her head to look at Zac. Her entire life, she had revolved around Zane, doing everything she could to one day stand by his side openly. In the past, he had told her his business was just taking off, and he couldn’t afford any scandals. When she was pregnant, Zane was at a crucial stage in his career. For the sake of his future, Renee had willingly stayed behind in South City. She didn’t even ask for financial support from him, afraid it might burden him.To survive, she had told John that she was carrying his child. But John had his own family—a wife, three daughters, and a son. So she became his secret lover. She used the money John gave her to raise Zac and enjoyed the care he provided. She had even used her savings to help Zane during his difficult times. Later, she handed Zac over to John entirely and moved to Seacity alone, becoming Zane’s long-term mistress. For the past ten years, she had dreamed of nothing else but officially entering the Yarbrough family. Her entire life’s goal seemed to be dependent on men. She had never once considered doing something for herself. Now, hearing Zac say it so directly, her mind went completely blank. This went against everything she had believed for so long. But then, suddenly, Renee realized Zac was right! Her eyes gradually filled with determination. Looking at Zac seriously, she said, "Zac, I’ll start making arrangements to get in touch with Fusion University for you right away!" Hearing that, a smile finally appeared on Zac’s face. "Alright!" In South City, the professors and Sebastian had already left. Inside the house, Arthur and Ashley were reluctantly saying their goodbyes. Even though the semester hadn’t started yet, the professors had asked them to report to school the next day. No one wanted to risk any delays. Ashley’s eyes were red. She couldn’t hold back any longer. "Arthur, why don’t I just go to Governance University with you? I don’t want to be apart from you." Arthur pulled her into his arms, gently rubbing her head before planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "Silly girl, Skyward Academy has always been your dream school. Now that Mr. Devon has recognized your talent, how could you give up on your dream just for me?" "But... the thought of us being apart for four years scares me." Unconsciously, Ashley hugged him tighter. Arthur was so outstanding—there would definitely be plenty of people vying for his attention. Not being by his side made her anxious. Long-distance relationships were the easiest to fall apart. Arthur gently patted her back to comfort her. "Skyward Academy and Governance University aren’t that far apart. We can meet up often on the weekends."
