Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 307 A Shocking Arrival

Rocco, the Director of Education for South City, slammed his palm on the table, his expression shifting from shock to urgency as he shot to his feet. "What did you just say? Mr. Sebastian from Fusion University is in South City? Why am I only hearing about this now?" Fusion University—it was one of the most prestigious finance universities in Lioran. It was the dream school for countless students. But South City had always fallen behind in education. It had been years since anyone from South City had been accepted into such an elite institution. And now, not just one, but two students had made history! Rocco was beyond thrilled. He had originally planned to visit Arthur and Ashley in person to congratulate them. But as the Director of Education, and with Arthur being the chairman of Cloudia Corporation, it wouldn’t have been appropriate. He needed to uphold his professional image and avoid any appearance of favoritism. But Arthur and Ashley's names were firmly etched in his mind. The man standing before him was just as shaken. His voice trembled as he reported, "Yes! We just received the news—right now, they’re at Arthur’s house!" "Arthur’s house?" Rocco frowned. "Where does he live?" Everyone in South City knew about the Gray family’s downfall. After Gray Corporation collapsed, their grand estate had been sold off. But as for where Arthur was living now… Rocco honestly had no idea. He hadn’t heard of any new Gray family estate in South City. The man quickly answered with respect, "Just a regular house in Sunrise District." "A regular house?" Arthur was the chairman of Cloudia Corporation, a company worth a fortune. He had grown up with hardships, yet even after amassing immense wealth, he still chose to live in a simple home? That genuinely surprised Mr. Rocco. Before he could say another word, someone suddenly burst into the office in a panic! Rocco’s face darkened instantly. “What’s with the commotion? Do you not know how to knock?”The man froze before bowing his head in embarrassment. “I—I’m sorry, Mr. Rocco!” He was so caught up in the excitement that he completely forgot how particular Rocco was about proper conduct. Rocco was known for being a strict enforcer of discipline and professionalism. Since the man admitted his mistake immediately, Rocco let it slide. Besides, today was a day worth celebrating. Fusion University’s professor had personally come to South City to recruit students! This was an incredible honor for the city. He gave a nod and said, "Alright, speak quickly. I have somewhere important to be." After all, how could he not personally welcome such a distinguished guest? The man, finally given permission to speak, blurted out, “Mr. Rocco! We just received news—Mr. Devon from Skyward Academy is at Arthur’s house!” “What?” Mr. Rocco’s breath caught in his throat. His foot faltered mid-step, and he nearly lost his balance. He didn’t even care about maintaining composure anymore. Steadying himself, he rushed forward, closing the distance in just a few strides. He grabbed the man’s shoulders and locked eyes with him, his gaze intense. “Say that again! What did you just say?” His hands were shaking. Skyward Academy. Mr. Devon from Skyward Academy. That was a man with global influence, a living legend whose contributions to the military field were known by every single person in Lioran. Rocco wondered if he had misheard. He held his breath, watching the man closely, hanging on every word. The man nodded firmly. “Mr. Rocco, it’s absolutely true! It really is Mr. Devon from Skyward Academy! Someone even took photos!” Without wasting a second, he handed over a newly printed photograph. Rocco snatched it up without hesitation, his hands trembling as he held it. His eyes widened as he took in the image. It really was Mr. Devon. It was really him! Rocco had once been lucky enough to attend one of Devon’s lectures, an experience he still remembered vividly. And now, Mr. Devon was here—in Arthur’s house. What the h*ll was happening today? It was expected that Fusion University would offer Arthur a place—that didn’t surprise Rocco at all. But Skyward Academy? That was completely unexpected. And the most shocking part? Devon himself had come all the way to South City—to Arthur’s house. My God. Rocco’s hands trembled uncontrollably. His mind went blank. For the first time in his life, he had no idea what to do. And then—he suddenly dropped to his knees. The room fell silent. Everyone stared in shock as Mr. Rocco lowered his head, pressing his hands to the floor in a gesture of deep respect. Thud. Thud. Thud. His head dipped repeatedly, his movements filled with emotion. The others jumped back in panic. What the h*ll! Was Mr. Rocco so overwhelmed that he lost his mind? But Rocco didn’t care what they thought. He muttered under his breath, his voice filled with gratitude. "I'm grateful to the former leaders of South City's Education Department for their hard work and dedication. I appreciate everyone’s support, and I’m thankful to God for guiding us. My ancestors’ blessings have made this achievement possible, and I deeply respect those who came before us and paved the way. This is an accomplishment that brings honor to my entire family." The room fell into an awkward silence. Expressing gratitude was one thing, but some of the former education leaders he was honoring weren’t long gone—they were just retired and probably enjoying their morning coffee. Rocco was being overly dramatic. Thankfully, this was happening behind closed doors in Rocco’s office, where no outsiders could witness the scene.
