Stronger Every Time I Die
"Dravenis, did you get everything down?" Spencer’s butler, Dravenis, held a camera in one hand while quickly jotting down names with the other. Every now and then, he lowered the camera to scribble down details at lightning speed. Without missing a beat, he responded, "Mr. Gray, I got everything. I took photos, too. You can review them later just in case." Arthur nodded, pleased with Dravenis’s efficiency and attention to detail. The people who had just demanded Arthur apologize felt a chill run down their spines. It’s over! Completely over! Arthur wasn’t someone who could be easily fooled. He had actually ordered someone to record their names! This meant that even if they tried to have their family members approach Arthur in the future, he would eventually find out who they were. From start to finish, Arthur had barely spoken, and now it was clear—he had been planning all along to watch the Yarbrough family make a fool of themselves. And more than that, he had been testing everyone! Yet, despite having no real evidence, they had blindly let Zane manipulate them. Worse, they had arrogantly confronted Arthur! Their eyes burned with fury as they glared at Zane, Stephen, and Maris. Zane! Zane! It was all Zane’s fault! It was them! They misled us! If not for them, we could have gotten close to Arthur, built a good relationship with him. We would have soared to success! Their stares were like daggers, piercing through the Yarbrough family members. Feeling the weight of those murderous glares, Zane, Stephen, and Maris shuddered. They couldn’t take it anymore. Their rage erupted like a dam breaking. "Zane! You wretched bastard! What the hell were you trying to pull? You ruined us! You ruined yourself too!" "Zane, why don’t you just die? You deserve it! You deserve every bit of this!" "Zane, you’ve destroyed me! You’ve completely ruined me!" "I knew you were up to no good! It wasn’t enough for you to be useless in politics—you just had to drag everyone else down with you!""This was supposed to be a joyous engagement party! They didn’t even invite you! Why the hell did you have to show up and stir up trouble?" As wave after wave of vicious insults rained down on them, Zane, Stephen, and Maris finally understood what Arthur had felt earlier when they had demanded he beg for mercy. No—Arthur had only ever treated them like a joke. Even when they had tried to humiliate him, he hadn’t felt the kind of despair that they were experiencing now. The Yarbrough family was finished. These people were experts at kicking someone when they were down. When they had thought Arthur had lost power, they had sided with the Yarbrough family to trample on him. But now that the Yarbrough family had fallen, they were scrambling to condemn them in hopes of winning Arthur’s favor. As the crowd grew louder, Arthur finally gave the order. "Throw them all out." "Yes, sir!" The security team, which had somehow appeared unnoticed, swiftly moved in. Without hesitation, they grabbed Zane, Stephen, and Maris like they were nothing more than ragdolls and hauled them out. The moment the three were thrown out, the people Arthur had previously pointed at started trembling. They tried to blend into the crowd, desperate to disappear. But it didn’t matter whether they left on their own or were thrown out—either way, it would be an enormous disgrace. Arthur’s security had already locked onto them. At Arthur’s signal, they moved in, showing no mercy as they dragged the rest of them out. In the chaos that followed, the party lost a considerable number of attendees. Those who had remained silent the whole time secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Thank God! Thank God I stayed quiet and just watched. If I had said anything, I would have been among those getting thrown out right now! Once the troublemakers were gone, the remaining guests quickly resumed their lively chatter. "Ugh, what a day for a celebration! Why did those people have to ruin it?" "Exactly! Arthur invited them to celebrate, and all they did was cause trouble." "Let’s get back to enjoying ourselves. We can’t let them ruin the mood." "That’s right, they were just nobodies. No need to let them affect our spirits." With everyone talking over each other, the atmosphere returned to one of joy and celebration.Arthur glanced around the room but didn’t say much. The most important part had already been completed—the rings had been exchanged. Now, it was time for the banquet. After all the drama, the event became even livelier. This was a man who was close to Ivan. That fact alone spoke volumes. The emerald rings on Arthur and Ashley’s fingers, the ownership of Seacity’s grandest estate—Arthur’s status in everyone’s eyes had completely transformed. People eagerly approached him, raising their glasses in a toast. Compliments and flattery poured down like a broken record, endlessly directed at Arthur, the Gibson family, and Ivan.
