Stronger Every Time I Die
Seeing that he had startled Zac, John quickly swallowed his anger. He strode over to Zac’s bedside. “Zac, did I scare you? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.” A flicker of disgust flashed through Zac’s eyes, but he quickly replaced it with a sweet, obedient smile. “Dad, I’m fine. I just finally managed to fall asleep…” He trailed off, letting his expression show just the right amount of grievance and discomfort. John felt an immediate wave of guilt. “I’m so sorry, Zac. That was my fault. You barely got any rest, and I woke you up.” As he spoke, he hurriedly pulled out the documents he had prepared. “Look, I’m transferring all my shares to your name. Once the paperwork is done, I’ll bring it over so you can sign with your fingerprint.” John couldn’t wait any longer—not even for Zac’s hands to heal. Raelynn! She actually had the audacity to try and make him leave with nothing! He had originally planned to wait until Julie and Rosie’s properties were sold and the debts were cleared before transferring the shares to Zac. But now, he couldn’t risk it. Raelynn had proof of his affair. She also had his public statement confirming Zac was his biological son. If she decided to use these against him, there was no telling what kind of trouble she could stir up. Zac’s eyes instantly lit up. The frustration and discomfort from earlier vanished completely. He hesitated for a moment, then asked carefully, “Dad… will Mom and my sisters be okay with this?” Of course, it was all an act. Renee had already managed to get a message to him earlier that morning—telling him the plan had worked. John had promised to hand Gray Corporation over to him. Now, he was just playing along. At the mention of Raelynn, John’s expression darkened. He let out a cold snort.“Hmph! Whether they agree or not doesn’t matter. It won’t change my decision.” Zac lowered his head slightly, hiding the smile that crept onto his face. Then, like a good son, he nodded obediently. Meanwhile, at Seacity International Airport, Spencer and Nancy stood at the arrivals gate, eagerly waiting. The moment Arthur and Ashley stepped out, they immediately spotted them. “Ashley! Arthur!” Spencer and Nancy waved excitedly. “Dad! Mom!” Ashley’s eyes brightened. Like a little bird, she released Arthur’s hand and dashed toward them. Spencer and Nancy pulled her into a tight embrace. They had missed her so much. Arthur followed with the luggage, watching Ashley’s joyful expression. A warm smile formed on his lips. He approached them and greeted politely, “Mr. Spencer, Madam Nancy, hello.” “Oh, it’s great to see you again!” Spencer and Nancy responded warmly. They hadn’t just missed Ashley—they had missed Arthur, too. Even though they had only spent a day with him before, they already saw him as family. They knew Arthur had never experienced true familial warmth growing up in the Gray family. So, they wanted to make up for that. Back at the Gibson residence, the family had prepared a grand feast—filled with all of Arthur’s favorite dishes. Seeing the table full of familiar dishes, Arthur felt a wave of warmth spread through him. He had only been here once before, yet they remembered what he liked. Aside from Ashley and Stanley, this was the first time he had ever felt this kind of sincere, thoughtful care. For ten years… For ten long years, this was the first time he truly felt what it was like to have a family. Spencer and Nancy beamed as they urged him to sit. “Come, Arthur, have a seat. Treat this place as your home—no need to be polite.”Arthur smiled. “Alright.” Dinner was lively, filled with laughter and warmth. This—this was what being a family felt like. This was what it meant to be home. The only regret was that Natalie couldn’t make it. She was busy with her career and barely had time to call, let alone visit. Spencer and Nancy hadn’t seen her in a long time. After dinner, Arthur took Ashley’s hand. He looked at Spencer and Nancy with a rare seriousness. “Mr. Gibson, Madam Nancy, I want to formally propose an engagement with Ashley. Once we graduate, we’ll get married right away.” Ashley’s face turned red, but her downcast gaze and shy smile made it clear—she had already agreed. Spencer and Nancy’s eyes lit up with excitement. Back at Stephen’s celebration, people had questioned their relationship with Arthur since he was only Ashley’s boyfriend. Even Zane had come to their house, acting superior, because Arthur’s status wasn’t officially tied to theirs. But now? Now, Arthur had taken the initiative. And they couldn’t be happier.
