Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 223 Raelynn Senses a Plot Twist Incoming!

By the time she reached the corridor’s corner, the figure had already disappeared. John had Zac wheeled back to his hospital room. Raelynn knew she couldn’t afford to show any cracks in front of John at this moment, so she followed them inside. Not long after they returned, Zac regained consciousness. The first words out of his mouth were, "Tia! That wench Tia! She stomped on my ribs and broke them!" Because his mouth had been beaten so badly, his words were slurred, making it difficult for the others to understand. But once they grasped what he was saying, everyone was stunned. John asked in disbelief, "Zac, are you serious?" He knew about Tia—after all, she had been Zac’s girlfriend for two years. Martin had once helped him in a time of need, and John had always been grateful to him. In John’s memory, Tia had always been a gentle and obedient girl. Zac had never spoken ill of her, and while their relationship hadn’t seemed particularly passionate, there had never been any signs of resentment. How could she have broken Zac’s ribs? Zac, his face swollen and bruised, nodded firmly. "That’s right, it was her!" His eyes burned with hatred toward Tia. He had expected John to immediately seek revenge for him. But to his surprise, John fell silent, lost in thought. Last night, he had heard about Arthur and Tia. Over the past two years, John had noticed that Zac never seemed deeply attached to Tia. He hardly even mentioned her at home. A woman like that wasn’t worth fighting over—there were plenty of good girls in the world. When he first heard that she had gone to a hotel with Arthur, he had been furious. But Arthur was no longer someone he could simply deal with as he pleased. If he could have dealt with Arthur so easily, he would have done so long ago. Seeing John hesitate, Zac panicked. "Dad! You have to get revenge for me!" John, worried that Zac’s agitation would worsen his injuries, quickly tried to calm him. "Don’t worry, I’ll figure something out." Despite his words, he had no confidence in his ability to do anything. His own wounds hadn’t even healed yet, and Gray Corporation was already in shambles thanks to Arthur’s attacks. To make matters worse, Arthur had been quietly acquiring a significant number of Gray Corporation’s shares. John had a sinking feeling—Arthur might be planning to take over the company. Gray Corporation had been hemorrhaging money for a while now. In order to pay off debts, he had secretly put the Gray family’s house up for auction. Every day, he dreaded answering phone calls. If not for the hospital’s security, debt collectors would have been pounding on his door constantly. His shares were on the verge of slipping from his grasp. If he lost control of his shares, Gray Corporation would no longer be his. John had been in charge for so long—he refused to let go of his power. Now, his only option was to appeal to Arthur’s emotions, hoping that their father-son bond would convince him to show mercy. His only way forward was to beg Arthur. Only Arthur had the power to save Gray Corporation now. At a time like this, how could he possibly afford to provoke him? Outside the hospital room, the same figure from earlier lingered in the hallway. She was bundled up in a hat and mask, concealing herself completely. She crouched near the door, listening intently to every word spoken inside. She had seen the news about Tia and Arthur last night. And now, she had just heard Zac say that Tia had broken his ribs. But Tia had been with Arthur last night. Which meant… Arthur must have ordered her to do it! "Arthur!" Her eyes blazed with hatred. She quietly retreated from the hospital room, moving to a more secluded corner of the hallway before pulling out her phone to make a call. At Seacity, Spencer and Nancy had just finished a call with Ashley when the butler entered to report, "Zane is here." Spencer and Nancy exchanged glances.Nancy frowned. "Is he a bloodhound or what? He catches the scent of trouble and comes running." Spencer raised an eyebrow. Without hesitation, he gave Nancy a thumbs-up. "That’s the perfect way to describe him." Nancy chuckled, unable to hold back her laughter. Just as she burst out laughing, Zane walked in and caught the scene. Zane looked at them in surprise. Given that they were Ashley’s parents, shouldn’t they be furious and grief-stricken right now? How could they be joking around at a time like this? Even the butler remained silent at the side. Zane cleared his throat, subtly announcing his presence. With a smirk, he asked, "What’s so funny?"
