Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 216 Caught in the Act?

This was breaking news! Ashley’s gaze shifted to the large bed in the room. The sheets were a mess, as if something intense had just happened there. Pointing at the bed, she choked up as she questioned, “You want me to believe you? Then tell me, what exactly were you two doing just now?” Arthur spun around in shock, his eyes landing on the bed. They hadn’t even gone near it! His head snapped toward Tia, his expression twisting with rage. “It was you! You set this up beforehand!” Out of everyone’s sight, a sly smirk tugged at the corners of Tia’s lips. That’s right—she had orchestrated everything in advance. She had meticulously planned for this very moment. Even if Arthur recognized her midway through, even if he refused to touch her, she was determined to climb her way to him today! Once the media broadcasted the scandal, Arthur would never be able to shake her off. A journalist seized the opportunity, squeezing into the room and snapping a frenzy of photos of the disheveled bed. More reporters swarmed around, thrusting their microphones between the two of them, bombarding them with questions. “Mr. Gray, is this South High’s prettiest girl, Ms. Tia?” “You and Ms. Tia broke off your engagement two years ago. Are you rekindling your relationship now?” “We understand you’re currently dating Ms. Gibson. What’s your take on this situation?” “Ms. Gibson, you tried to shake us off downstairs. Was it because you already knew about Mr. Gray and Ms. Tia’s relationship?” “Ms. Tia, what’s your response to all this?” “Ms. Tia, Mr. Gray is currently dating Ms. Gibson. Are you knowingly interfering in their relationship?” “Ms. Tia, did you truly break things off with Mr. Gray two years ago?” Hearing the barrage of questions, Tia could barely suppress the triumphant smile tugging at her lips.Keeping her head down, she shrank behind Arthur, playing the role of a timid, wronged woman. The reporters’ words, combined with Tia’s pitiful act, stabbed deep into Ashley’s heart. A sharp, unbearable pain pierced through her chest, as if a thousand needles were stabbing her all at once. Even breathing felt difficult. As her tears fell uncontrollably, Arthur panicked. “No! Ashley, it’s not what it looks like!” he blurted out. “Tia disguised herself as you! She wore the same dress as you, the same wig! She tricked me into coming here while I was drunk!” He rushed through his explanation, terrified that Ashley might storm off in anger. Stunned, Ashley turned to look at Tia. Tia’s hands clenched into fists. The media erupted at Arthur’s revelation, instantly redirecting their microphones toward her. “Ms. Tia, is what Mr. Gray said true?” “Did you really impersonate Ms. Gibson and lure Mr. Gray here while he was drunk?” “Ms. Tia, you were aware of Mr. Gray and Ms. Gibson’s relationship. Doesn’t this make you the other woman? What do you have to say about that?” “Ms. Tia, do you have any response to Mr. Gray’s accusations?” The room buzzed with chaotic questioning, like a barrage of explosive rounds. Tia remained silent, her head still lowered. Then suddenly, she lifted her face, her expression filled with grievance as she looked at Arthur. “Arthur, even if you don’t want to take responsibility, do you really have to say something like that?” Her words set off another explosion among the reporters. There was no longer any doubt, Arthur had cheated on Ashley with Tia, and now that his girlfriend had caught them red-handed, he was scrambling to make excuses to distance himself from his mistress. This kind of scandal? The media had seen it a lot of times and were getting used to it. Arthur stared at Tia’s pitiful expression, his fury boiling over. He wanted to strangle her on the spot! Gritting his teeth, he growled, “Tia! You’re asking for it!” The reporters’ eyes gleamed with excitement. The bigger the scandal, the juicier the headlines. The more explosive the drama, the hotter the story. Suddenly, Arthur shoved Tia aside in a panic. He was desperate—because of Ashley.“The dress and wig you wore are still in the room! I’ll find them right now!” Tia, caught off guard, stumbled back and slammed hard into the wall with a dull thud. It was the third time Arthur had shoved her into a wall. But instead of resisting, she simply let out a soft gasp of pain. There was no trace of panic on her face. Seeing Arthur’s determination, Ashley calmed down slightly. She had always known his character—he wasn’t someone who lost control like this. But then again, he had been drunk… Arthur rummaged through the room in frustration, tearing through every corner, every cabinet, even the bathroom. Yet no matter how hard he searched, he couldn’t find the dress or wig Tia had supposedly taken off. They were gone.
