Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 163 We have severed ties

"If you’re here to ask me to save Gray Corporation, then you might as well leave now. I will never help you." Arthur tone was indifferent, as if he were merely stating an insignificant fact. But to Julie, his words were devastating! He had refused her before she could even speak. Julie quickly stepped forward, her voice trembling with desperation. "Arthur, I’m begging you, please help the Gray family!" Her eyes glistened with tears as she pleaded. "Sister know we wronged you. You hate us, and I shouldn’t have come to you." "But, I really can’t hold on anymore." As she spoke, tears finally spilled from her eyes. John was hospitalized, still unable to get out of bed. Raelynn knew little about running the company, and Rosie and Susie had never been involved in business affairs. For the past few days, Julie had been carrying everything alone. She had never felt this close to breaking. The end of the month was approaching, and she didn’t even have the funds to pay the employees. Arthur watched her as she wept, yet he felt nothing. His voice remained flat as he corrected her, "You misspoke, you are not my sister. We severed ties long ago." Julie stiffened. Did he despise their relationship that much? Did he truly not want to acknowledge me as his sister? "But we share the same blood! That’s a bond that can never be broken!" Julie’s voice was resolute. At this moment, perhaps their bloodline was the only thing she could cling to. Arthur remained indifferent. "And yet, when you all mistreated me, did our bloodline matter to you then?" Julie’s entire body tensed! Mistreatment. Yes, we had tormented him for eight years.Eight years. He had been so helpless back then. What good was we regret now? But she had no other options left.Only Arthur could save the Gray family now. To him, rescuing the company would be effortless. Before Arthur could respond, Tammy’s voice came from outside the door. "Mr. Gray, Mrs. Gray and Ms. Rosie, as well as Ms. Susie, are here to see you." Arthur frowned. Before he could speak, Raelynn voice rang out from the hallway. "Arthur! Arthur!" "Get out of my way! I am Arthur’s mother! His biological mother!" Arthur’s expression darkened with irritation. "Let them in."Tammy, clearly relieved, quickly answered, "Yes." The door to Arthur’s office swung open, and the moment Raelynn, Rosie, and Susie stepped inside, the noisy commotion outside came to an abrupt halt. Their eyes widened in shock as they took in the grand office. What an imposing space! It was far more extravagant than John office as chairman, by an immeasurable margin. It wasn’t the kind of grandeur that flaunted wealth with gold and jewels. Instead, it exuded a low key, commanding presence that was genuinely awe-inspiring. For the first time, Raelynn and her daughters truly realized just how high Arthur had risen. The son Raelynn had once looked down on, the brother they had despised, now stood so far above them that they could only look up at him. Rosie was the first to snap out of it, she quickly tugged at Raelynn’s sleeve, reminding her of their purpose. Raelynn shuddered and came back to her senses, hurriedly stepping toward Arthur. She looked at him cautiously, afraid of provoking his anger. It was a stark contrast to how she had treated him before. Her voice was soft. "Arthur, Mom… mom came to apologize." She struggled to say the words. She knew she had wronged him, but she was still his mother. She was still his elder. When had she ever humbled herself before him like this. Before she could say more, Arthur abruptly cut her off. "Please stop calling yourself my mother, Mrs. Gray. We severed ties long ago. I have no mother." His tone was indifferent, as if he were merely stating another ordinary fact. But the certainty in his voice made Raelynn’s heart tremble. Raelynn clutched her chest in anguish. "But you’re my flesh and blood! I carried you for ten months, gave birth to you after great pain!" Arthur suddenly looked at her. "If I had a choice, I’d rather have never been born." Raelynn froze. He hated me that much? Susie couldn’t hold back any longer. "Arthur, we treated you badly, that’s true. But Gray Corporation is innocent, it carries the hard work of generations of our family! Are you really willing to watch it fall?"
