Stronger Every Time I Die
Zac's eyes were tinged with red as he spoke, his voice heavy with disappointment. "This is all your doing! She was a good girl, and you ruined her! Even now, you refuse to let her go?" John froze, his mind going blank. Zac's words pierced straight through him, like a thousand needles stabbing into his heart. He had caused her that much pain. Beyond his sight, she had been suffering all along. And it was all because of him. Zac's accusations cut into him like blades, each one sinking deep into his soul. After what felt like an eternity, John seemed to come to a decision. He suddenly lifted his head and looked Zac in the eye. "Zac, don't worry. I'll divorce Raelynn right away and bring your mom into the Gray family. I'll give her the grand wedding she always wanted! I'll invite all our family and friends to celebrate!" Zac was stunned, rooted to the spot. He hadn't expected John to say he would divorce Raelynn. Just outside the room, Raelynn's fists clenched tightly. How could John… Her eyes burned with rage, her vision blurring in fury. She wanted to storm in there and confront him on the spot! They had been married for decades. She had given birth to his children, raised them, and built a life with him. And now, just for some woman, he wanted to throw it all away. Raelynn's hands tightened so hard that her nails dug into her palms, drawing blood. Zac quickly snapped back to reality, disbelief written all over his face. "You're divorcing her? What about your three daughters?" John's expression flickered at the mention of them. "They're grown now. They can move out. From now on, the Gray family will just be the three of us, is that okay?" His voice was cautious, tinged with hope for a new future. Outside the room, Julie and her sisters were left in shock. Especially Susie. The blows just kept coming today. The Gray family had been turned upside down overnight, but for her, the true devastation was happening now. The father she had revered, the brother she had cherished, were plotting to cast them aside. Indeed, they were adults now, but they weren't married yet. And Susie had nothing to fall back on. She had transferred all her properties to Zac out of love for her little brother. She had always spent lavishly, never worrying about saving up. If they were truly thrown out, she would have nowhere to go. John's words didn't just shock Raelynn and their daughters, and it stunned Zac too. His heart is cold as steel. Arthur was one thing because John had set him up deliberately. But he had doted on his daughters since they were little, and now he was ready to cast them out without hesitation. John quickly turned back to Zac. "Zac, tell me, where is your mom? I want to see her." Zac's gaze darkened slightly before he answered, "She said she doesn't want to see you." Keeping John burdened with guilt would ensure he remained useful. Years of pretense had taught Zac this well. John's face fell with disappointment. When it came to her, he wasn't as forceful as he was with Raelynn. He softened, compromised. "Well, when she's ready to see me, let me know. I'll come to her right away." Outside the room, Raelynn and her daughters had lost all hope in John. From start to finish, he hadn't even asked Zac why he transferred Julie's shares to his mom. Raelynn led her daughters away quietly. As soon as they stepped outside the hospital, she turned to Julie. "Hurry, stop them! You must make sure Zac doesn't transfer your shares!" Despite the Gray Corporation's recent turmoil, Julie's shares were still worth a fortune. Julie patted Raelynn's hand reassuringly. "Don't worry. I've already sent someone to handle it." Raelynn exhaled, finally feeling some relief. Julie's expression darkened with concern. "Mom, what are you going to do now?" Julie had properties in her name, and she wasn't too worried about herself or her sisters. It was Raelynn's future that unsettled her. Raelynn's eyes turned cold, a ruthless glint flashing within them. "If he wants to be heartless, then he shouldn't expect mercy from me."Meanwhile, at the top floor at Cloudia Corporation, Arthur stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking all of South City.
