Chapter 122 Clothes and Confrontations

Arthur changed into a new suit, one that Ivan had made for him. He really liked the clothes Ivan designed; they were not only well-fitting and stylish but also extremely comfortable to wear. In fact, most of the clothes he had worn over the past two years were made by Ivan. After two years of growth, Arthur's frame was no longer as skinny as it had been; his tall, well-proportioned figure made him the perfect clothes hanger. Ivan enjoyed making clothes for him and would notify Stanley to pick them up whenever he finished a piece. Arthur packed the suit he had changed out of into a bag to bring to the banquet—he definitely needed to have Yoder check it over thoroughly. Since Zac had laid himself open to attack, how could Arthur miss the opportunity for revenge? To ignore such a chance would be to shortchange himself. And then there was the Gray family. Glancing at the time, Arthur grabbed his coat and headed for the banquet hall. It was still the same Glenford Hotel from two years ago, the largest hotel in South City, with a venue spacious enough to accommodate thousands of people. Thanks to the invitation provided by Stanley, Arthur entered the banquet hall smoothly. However, right at the entrance, he ran into Zac, who had volunteered to greet guests at the door. Alongside Zac were several high-profile nobles. Officially, they were there to train their children, but in reality, they wanted to make a good first impression on the chairman of Cloudia Corporation, get familiar with him, and hopefully earn some favor for future patronage. Zac was surprised when he saw Arthur. With a look of disgust, Zac feigned surprise, "Ah, Arthur, what are you doing here? Do you even know what this place is?" As he spoke, he glanced at the bag in Arthur's hand, a flicker of unclear emotion passing through his eyes. Suddenly, Zac smiled and extended his hand toward Arthur, "Are you here to have Mr. Yoder inspect the clothes? Hand them over to me, and I'll make sure they get to Mr. Yoder." Arthur saw right through his little trick, "No need, to prevent you from doing anything shady, I'll personally hand the clothes over to Mr. Yoder." Arthur said this and prepared to bypass Zac to find Ashley. Zac blocked him."Stop right there!" He looked at Arthur, unable to hide his disdain any longer. He actually said he would do something underhanded! Checking that no one was looking their way, Zac said directly, "We're hosting this banquet today to meet the famous chairman of Cloudia Corporation. You, a nobody, think you belong here?" "Ha," Arthur raised an eyebrow, "Done pretending?" Caught off guard, Zac scowled and said coldly, "I don't know how you sneaked in here, but this isn't the place for you! If you know what's good for you, you'll leave now! Either hand over the clothes to me, or take your bag of rags and get out!" Zac's gaze never left the bag in Arthur's hand. In fact, he already had a plan. Once he got the clothes, he wouldn't let a mere piece of fabric ruin his reputation! Zac was sure that after his words, Arthur, to prove himself, would hand over the clothes. If he left with the clothes, it would look like he was fleeing from guilt, afraid to let Yoder see them! Then, Zac would have an even better opportunity to act. But for now, he needed to get the clothes or send Arthur away. If someone else got hold of the clothes, he might lose the chance to tamper with them. Thinking it over, Zac softened his tone, offering, "Arthur, we're practically brothers. If I've wronged you, I'll definitely apologize properly. I'm also curious to see if this really is a design by Mr. Ivan." Looking again at the clothes in Arthur's hand, Zac added, "Hand them over to me. With so many people watching, how could I possibly deceive you?" Arthur pondered for a moment and actually handed the clothes over to Zac. Still wary, Arthur warned, "With so many people watching, if you dare tamper with them, you'll surely ruin your reputation!" Zac's eyes gleamed with a cold smirk as he said meaningfully, "Don't worry, I'll personally deliver the clothes to Mr. Yoder." "That's good to hear," Arthur nodded. Arthur handed the bag to Zac, who quickly reached out to take it.To avoid any setup by Arthur, Zac carefully checked the clothes inside to make sure they were the same ones Arthur had worn at the graduation ceremony and that there were no issues with them before he confidently took the clothes.
