Stronger Every Time I Die
When Jacob saw Arthur in a bind, he quickly said, "Come to my office with me, I have something to ask you." After speaking, Jacob grabbed Arthur, intending to leave. Before they left, Jacob threw out to everyone, "Mr. Yoder will also be attending tonight's banquet. The truth will come out then." This statement caused a stir among the crowd. Even Yoder would be at tonight's banquet! Yoder, the top designer in South City, usually preferred peace and seldom attended such gatherings. Unexpectedly, he would be there tonight! The chairman of Cloudia Corporation was no ordinary man. In Jacob's office, not wanting to leave Ashley behind, Arthur brought her along as well. Zac was not an easy person to deal with; leaving Ashley in that troubled environment could lead to untold suffering. As soon as they entered the office, Jacob, with tears brimming in his eyes, eagerly pulled Arthur aside and asked, "Kid, can you tell me where Ivan is now? I've been looking for him for so long." Arthur looked at him, surprised. So much admiration for Ivan? Arthur's hand hurt from the grip; he tried to pull away, but Jacob held on even tighter. With difficulty, Arthur said, "Mr. Lane, it's not that I don't want to tell you, but Ivan made it very clear that I shouldn't reveal his whereabouts to anyone. As his friend, I can't betray his trust." Ivan took his privacy very seriously, and not even Ashley could know without his consent. Hearing this, Jacob became frantic. "I—I just want to know where he is. I've really been looking for him for a long time." Seeing Jacob become more distressed, Arthur quickly said, "Mr. Lane, don't worry, I'll call him and ask. If he agrees, I can take you to see him!" Over the past two years, Jacob had often protected him, and thanks to Jacob, Zac's harassment had decreased. Arthur was grateful to Jacob, but he couldn't compromise Ivan's privacy to repay that gratitude. Just as Arthur was about to dial Ivan's number, Jacob, without thinking, quickly pressed down on Arthur's hand. "No, no, don't ask him." Arthur looked at Jacob, bewildered, then reassured him, "I'm just asking. If he agrees, it wouldn't be betraying him."Arthur was about to dial when Jacob hastily said again, "Don't, don't ask." Now Arthur was genuinely puzzled. Jacob didn't say more; he just patted Arthur on the shoulder and said, "Good lad, Ivan is lucky to have a friend like you." Arthur was even more surprised. Ordinary people would be envious of his luck in knowing Ivan, but Jacob even said that having Arthur as a friend was Ivan's good fortune? Jacob ignored the confused expression on Arthur's face and continued, "I won't ask anymore. Just knowing he's doing well is enough for me." Arthur frowned slightly. Jacob didn't seem like just another fan of Ivan? The way he spoke always felt strange to Arthur, but he couldn't figure out why. The graduation ceremony quickly ended, and everyone was eager to attend the grand evening banquet, which they were not particularly excited about. Tonight's banquet was not only a chance to meet the rising star of South City, the chairman of Cloudia Corporation, but also to find out who was lying—Zac or Arthur. Gossip was human nature, and their curiosity was fully piqued. During the graduation photo, Arthur made sure to stand next to Ashley. This seemed to be their first official photo together. He planned to keep this graduation picture, hoping that whenever he looked at it in the future, Ashley would be by his side. As night fell, Ashley had already gone to the banquet with Natalie. She had suggested several times before to bring Arthur to these high-society gatherings to help him network, but Arthur had always declined. He had no interest in such events. Arthur believed that a company's growth depended on its capabilities and strategic planning, rather than spending all his time trying to please others. He'd rather focus on how to rapidly expand the business and put those plans into action. For all the formalities, he had always let Stanley handle them entirely. This was the first time in two years that he had prepared to attend such an event.
