My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me
♡ Mia's pov ♡ "Mom I'm not a reckless driver!" I scowled. Great, she keeps this up and Kade will have a whole entire list of things he can blackmail me with. She pulls away from dad who laughs instead of helping me with mom's accusation. " You drove over a cat last month. " She pointed out with a shrug. " The cat was already dead mom! " I protested. How was it my fault the grey cat blended with the road? And it was dead already for God's sake! Or maybe it was napping..... Still, it wouldn't have been that dumb to nap in the middle of the road right? "I heard when the cat cried Mia," with a raised brow, mom passes the plates filled with french toast and strawberries with cream. "That was.....my ring tone..." I drawled looking at dad for help but he only lifts his hands in surrender. Great, everyone will have me fight this war on my own. " Sure it was," Mom snorts. _ I blasted the horn again, sighing as I pushed my head back on the seat. Seriously, for a boy, he sure was taking his precious time to get ready. Mom and dad already left to drop Austin school. At this rate, Kade would have us late on the first day. Just as I was about to blare the horn again, he appears. I held my breath, my heart beating furiously as I looked at him. Even the ridiculous school uniform fit him really well. He looked hot. I tear my eyes away and looked at the front when he nears my car. As soon as he enters, I stiffen. He smelled really good. I gripped the steering wheel harshly and wiggled around to get myself in check. "Took you long enough," Why did my voice come out so breathy? "It's that damn tie," He flicks the tie around his neck irritatedly. I took a quick peek at the said tie and almost laughed. It looked like he was trying to create an impossible knot. In other words, his tying skills were utter shit. "Here, let me help," I turn to him, gripping the tie to show him that I would help him fix the tie. To my surprise, he doesn't protest but turns to face me so I can fix it properly. I keep my eyes on his tie and refrain from looking at him even though I could feel his piercing stare. His blue eyes, they were too much for me to bare so early. When I was done, I patted his tie. The action had me blushing as I remembered that my mom does the same thing to my dad. Clearing my throat, I wrench away from him completely. "All done." "Thanks, red." I stiffen completely, my cheeks flaming with an impossible heat that didn't seem would ease up anytime soon. He was teasing me. "My name's Mia," I corrected even though I knew he knew my name. "Red suits you better, especially that day in the dressing room," Kade replies. Suddenly I could feel that throb down there again. I pushed my thighs together, gritting my teeth as I recall what he did in the dressing room. "You should go to the back," I whispered, looking at the front and refusing to look at him. My pulse raced when his eyes burned through the side of my head. I didn't want him so close to me. I could literally feel him. "Why should I?" His voice is almost teasing. Which was far different from his usual cold. It was as if he knew why I didn't want him so close to me. I was beginning to think he loved getting under my skin. "Because I have to pick up a friend," I said. It wasn't a lie, I did have to pick up Colby. It was our routine the moment I got my driver's license. My skin began to tingle the longer he stayed there. "Why can't your friend go in the back?" This time his voice was curious. "Because I don't want him to okay," My voice comes out harsher than I wanted it to. I regretted it instantly when I could literally feel his mood change. I open my mouth to apologize but he interrupts me. "Want your boyfriend sitting at the front, got it." He grunts coldly before throwing his bag in the backseat. But instead of going out through the door, he wiggles his way between the seat and me. I sucked in a breath when his huge frame brushes my arm. I flinch away. "Colby isn't- "Don't care," He says curtly with an irritated tone, huffing when he fixes himself on the seat. It was like a sin to feel so dejected by his tone. _ Colby stops mid step to look at the brooding hulk in the backseat of my car. His eyes widen and he mouths, 'Holy shit'. I rolled my eyes and took a quick peek at Kade through the rearview mirror. His eyes were glued to his phone, typing furiously as headphones in his ears blocked him out from the world. I turn back to look at Colby who had a hand on his heart and feigned fainting. I giggled lowly as he mouthed the word 'I'm officially in love'. Suddenly he stops, seeming to look embarrassed as faint pink splotches appear on his cheeks. Looking back through the rearview mirror, I noticed Kade's eyes aren't on his phone anymore but on Colby. He was glaring at Colby. I wince as Colby rushes toward the car and enters so quickly that I flinched. He looks at me wide eyed and motions to Kade who hadn't removed his furious glare away from him. "Why is your hot as hell brother sending me death stares?" Colby questions and gulps. I wince. "He's not my brother," Colby lifts a brow and squirms while trying to make himself look invisible. "Is that all you got from my question?" Sighing and feeling bad that Kade was treating him like an enemy, I turned to Kade. His blue eyes connected with mine and just like that, I'm breathless. Clearing my throat, I looked at him awkwardly. "Can you stop glaring at Colby please?" Kade's lips curl into a sneer before tearing his eyes away from me. Seriously what was his problem? I turned around, annoyed that he was acting so rudely. Colby who had manners grew some balls and turned to Kade. He pushes out his hand. "I'm Colby-"But Kade looks at Colby's hand like he had shit on them. Ignoring Colby, Kade goes back to typing on his phone and blocking us out. Colby awkwardly retracts his hand and turns around to secure the seat belt around him. Then turning to me, he mouths ' hot and moody'. I couldn't agree with him more.
