My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me

Chapter 338

Haiden Cross "What is the meaning of this Snake?" Mr. Rivera grumbles boredly, removing his gaze from mine to pin Snake with a dry look. He didn't seem as shocked to see me as I was to see him. Never would I have guessed that my girlfriend's father was the main person behind the crimes that were happening in this town. Snake looked confused as he looked between Mr. Rivera and I. "He's the kid I was talking about. We need him on the streets." Mr. Rivera hums and turns his attention back on me with a look that spat 'I don't like you'. " Haiden Cross. Funny seeing you here." He says without emotion flicking on his face and walks into the room further. Looking over at Snake behind his shoulder he waves off his hand. "Leave us." Snake nodded, eyes seemed to be still confused as he closes the door behind him. Now it was only Mr. Rivera and I. "I was going to say the same thing," I murmured. Still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that it was him all along. He hums again but stops a good distance from me. " I suppose you're shocked?" Smirking slyly he scans his eyes around the dirty room. "Not quite a good place to meet huh?" " Expected a drug boss to meet somewhere fancier I'll admit." I tilt my head slightly to study him and his stance. A gun flashed in the waistband of his pants. Removing my gaze from it quickly I lift them to his emotionless eyes. " I'll also admit that I was expecting someone different- "Someone not Arabella's father?" He lifts a brow in mockery. " Think I don't know about you and my daughter's relationship?" I don't answer him, not knowing what to say exactly. I didn't know how to get out of this mess and knowing that Arabella's dad was the boss in all of this made it all the worse. I was stuck. "Snake mentioned that you owe him?" He suddenly questioned and for the first time, an emotion crossed his eyes. Deep hatred. My fist clenched at my sides at the mention of Snake. "Did he also mention that he held a gun to your daughter's head?" My question shocked him. I could see it flash in his eyes, the way his stance changed. He didn't know everything. I could use this to my advantage. But as quick as the flash of shock crossed his eyes it went away as quickly." He must've failed to mention that one." His voice had gone back to being emotionless. "Do tell how my daughter got into that situation?" He asked in a mocking tone as if he knew the answer already. My tongue grew heavy because I was well aware that I was the cause for Bella to have come here in the first place. He snorts, reading my face as though he was reading an open book. " You're the cause of every bad thing that has ever happened and will happen to her. This wasn't Snake's doing but yours. So the one I should punish for that should be you? Am I wrong Haiden?" He wasn't wrong. He takes my silence as an answer and he smirks. "My daughter seems to be very fond of you Haiden, love you even. I take it that she knows what you've gotten yourself into?" Again I don't answer. Mr. Rivera had me in the palm of his hand and it was his choice if he squashed me to death. He lifts a brow. "If not, she wouldn't have gotten herself in that situation with Snake, right?" With a stare that could chill bones he huffed. "Had you gone completely mute boy?" "No. " I answered. "Just not seeing any use of answering questions you know the answer to already. Makes me wonder how much more you know." Mr. Rivera lifted a brow in feign shock before his lips lined into a frown. " I know enough to want you away from my daughter as soon as possible. You're not good for her, seeing as you've already caused her to nearly get shot for your sake." The thought of staying away from Bella was painful. I couldn't do it even though I'd be forced to. It was that impossible. I couldn't see my future if it didn't have her. "Your daughter and I- He snorts cutting me off. "What? In love? She gave me that same excuse when I told her to stay away from you. You two are teenagers, you don't know what love is." He warned her to stay away from me? Why didn't Bella say anything? "And what is love Mr. Rivera? Is it lying to your family? Is that what you consider as love?" The words rolled off my tongue as I stared at him with an unwavering gaze. He can shoot me at any second, clean off the blood on his hands and walk away like he hadn't done it. He'd be a free man and he'd get what he want, for me to be out of Bella's life for good. But right now, I couldn't go down without a fight. I was never one to obey anyway, or back down. His eyes turn a shade darker than before as he scowls. "I've done some research on you boy. Before I found out you're the little rabbit Snake has been talking about. I know you need money not only to pay off your debt. But to pay for college."I took a step back in shock. How did he know about me needing money for college? "What? Surprised I know about college? It's my duty to find out what kind of boy my daughter got mixed up with." He grunts. "It must be upsetting to know that you're very far from repaying your debts or having that money for college." "What are you getting at Rivera?" I grumble, it was clear that he was beating around the bush. He was trying to wager with me and he wasn't doing a good job in trying to act sleek. Smirking in satisfaction at getting my attention he says. "I'm saying that I will pay off your debts and your college tuition. Only if you stop seeing my daughter." My heart stops. Did he really think I would leave Arabella for some petty cash when she was worth so much more? "No. I will pay off my debts on my own and will earn money for college. I don't need your fucking dirty money. " I gritted out. He was trying to push me into a corner where I'd have no place to escape. I wasn't going to let him. He lifts a brow, amused at my defiance. "Really? How will you get this money? You fight for Snake right? Your money is my money. Snake works for me, or did you seem to have forgotten?" I don't answer him knowing he was right. I was basically working for him. Fuck. "Well let me refresh your memory." With a cold smirk, Mr. Rivera turns around slightly to call Snake in who barges in quickly. "Yes boss?" He asked closing the door behind him. "Haiden owes you money, right? About how much?" Mr. Rivera hums. "Yes boss. About fifty grand." Snake replied without a second thought. I took a step forward, furious that he was lying. With all those fucking fights he thrust me into I was supposed to be halfway paying that off. It didn't make sense. "Stay where you are." Mr. Rivera mumbles without having to look at me. I stop but leave my furious gaze on Snake. Dirty fucking bastard. "Is that all?" He asked Snake with a raised brow. Snake sneaks a dirty glance at me before answering. "No. He also owes me for sparing that bitch of his earlier. That's why I figured he'd join my men on the streets. It wouldn't be bad if he died- "That bitch you're referring to is my daughter." Mr. Rivera says coldly. Snake's eyes widen in shock. "I di-dn't kn-ow-"What the fuck?" I yelled when the sound of the gun goes off. I watch stunned when Snake's lifeless body falls to the dirty floor and the crimson liquid quickly joins him. Sighing as if he was irked, Mr. Rivera turns to me and places the gun back in the waistband of his pants. "Now you only owe me. I give you three days to tell her you two can't be together anymore. Fail to do so and you'll join Snake." Stepping over Snake's lifeless body he opens the door. "Oh, and do have a good night Haiden." With that, he steps out and disappears from my sight.
