My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me

Chapter 322

Arabella Rivera Monday rolled in quickly and keeping Haiden's and I's relationship on the down low was proving to be as difficult as staying away from chocolate these days. We both craved each other's presence so much that it had begun to physically hurt. "Arabella!" I'm jerked back to reality when Mr. Boyd's hands slam on his desk. My eyes lift to his irritated ones and I smiled awkwardly. "I would love it if you pay attention in class. I do not enjoy teaching someone who is in another world." He grumbles. The entire day I had been thinking about Haiden. His soft lips, his touch, his body- I was doing it again. Getting distracted. Ugh. "Sorry sir." I murmured out an apology. Mr. Boyd just grunted out. "Stay after class." Before turning around and not sparing me another glance. I found my eyes snapping over to the boy who had been occupying my thoughts lately. It was still so strange to know that I was now his girlfriend. It even sounded weird when I said it out loud while looking at my reflection in the mirror. As if sensing my eyes on his, Haiden turns around and our eyes clash. He smirks as if knowing he was the reason I had been distracted. Cocky bastard. He was my cocky bastard though, so I guess I couldn't be too mad. Haiden turns around and types something on his phone while sending wary glances Mr. Boyd's way. After a few seconds, my phone gives off a soft ping inside my bag. Biting my lip I took a quick peek at Mr. Boyd before fishing for my phone in my bag. My fingers work quickly to unlock my phone. Haiden: Meet me after school? I smiled, biting into my bottom lip even more. I snuck a swift glance at him beneath my lashes and chewed my lips to suppress a giggle when he glanced at me swiftly before going back to looking down at his phone. I typed a quick text, grinning from ear to ear. I didn't know I could feel this happy, especially with him. And it had only been a few days since we made it official.Arabella: hmmm........let me think about it.......nope I was teasing him, I enjoyed it. And I especially like the after-effect I have on him when I do. Looking over at him, I noted that he had a shit-eating grin on his face. I rolled my bottom lip between my teeth as he typed a text. Haiden: hmmm.....then I suppose you won't be receiving that gift from me. His words piqued my curiosity. Arabella: What gift? I saw his shoulders rise and fall as he chuckles lowly. Haiden: I had been researching last night and I realized we never had a proper date. In fact, we never did have one. So how about it baby, date tonight? My heart stops then suddenly starts pounding without any indication that it would slow down anytime soon. Arabella: hmmm, I don't know, someone kept me up late last night. Haiden: Fine. Date night in your room then, when mommy and daddy are asleep and won't hear you moaning out loud. Scratch that, I might have to muffle your moans myself like usual. I'll probably give you your gift then. I rolled my eyes, feigning irritation even though my heart was pounding unbelievably fast. Arabella: Okay you win. Date night. Will I see the infamous Haiden Cross in a tux? Haiden: hmmm if you'll be taking it off later on then yes. But if not, I can just show up in my birthday suit. I scrunched my nose. Arabella: Hopefully moths or crickets won't be attracted to little Haiden down below. Haiden: Funny -_- Arabella: Where will you be taking me? Haiden: It's a surprise baby. Don't even try getting it out of me, I don't crumble so easily. Arabella: I hate surprises. Haiden: Well you're gonna love this one."Hey Ella, have an extra pen I can borrow?" Christian's warm breath hits my cheeks and the sudden close proximity made me uneasy. I lean away from him as I nod, hoping he didn't catch a glimpse of Haiden's name on my phone. With the way he had been leaning towards me, I wouldn't have been surprised if he had. I pass him a pencil. I always had three in my bag, just in case. I was always organized. Sort of. "Thanks Ella." Christian's pearly whites reveal themselves as his fingers purposely brush mine. I try to act neutral, as if it was just a friendly act. But inside I was very, very, uncomfortable. Especially since I'm dating his stepbrother. How much awkward can that be? So instead of wincing or showing my unease, I smiled. Clearly, it was fake and was forced. " No problem." Christian's flirting wasn't something I liked. Never did. And now, I hated it even more. But even though I made it clear that I only saw him as a friend, he tried even harder. Christian finally goes back to writing down the notes Mr. Boyd had been letting out. Which I also should be doing too. My eyes flicker over to Haiden and noticed that his eyes were set on Christian. They were literally glaring a hole in Christian's head and the clenching of his jaw made it seem as though he was biting down on nails. Poor Christian didn't know a brooding bad boy had his furious eyes set on him. The bell rings suddenly, ending the class. Mr. Boyd snaps his attention to Haiden who had not removed his angry eyes from Christian. "You too Haiden. Stay after class." Mr. Boyd grumbles as he dismisses the other students who literally run out of the classroom. "See you in a sec?" Christian's blue eyes looked hopeful as they scan over my features. I nodded and smiled at him without saying much. Honestly, I wasn't exactly comfortable around his presence knowing he wanted more than I was willing to give. And seeing as Haiden had an inkling of it made it all the more worst. I didn't want to string Christian along. Christian grins while winking before leaving shortly after. My stomach tightens when my eyes fall on Haiden's irritated glare. Why was he mad at me? It's not like I can control Christian's actions. When it appears to be only Haiden and me who stayed back in the classroom, Mr. Boy walks around his desk and leaned back until his bum touches the wooden end. He lifts his brow at Haiden and me. "I realized that our little talk wasn't quite effective? You're playing with your future boy. Didn't I say you won't graduate if you don't pass this class?"I took a peek at Haiden and noticed his fisted hands at his sides. I knew he was angry at Mr. Boyd's words but I also could sense it wasn't Mr. Boyd he was truly angry with, but the current situation. So I stepped in. "I'm sorry Mr. Boyd. I was the one who- "No, it was my fault. I didn't take your words seriously and didn't care. But now I do." Haiden's brown eyes snap to mine and I held my breath. " I realized that there was something worth fighting for in my future. Or rather someone." Tearing his gaze away from me, he stares down Mr. Boyd. "I'll have her tutor me. One on one tutoring doesn't sound all that bad anymore."
