My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me

Chapter 295

Arabella Rivera Those brown eyes. They turned the smokey shade of anger, numbing me to the core. Haiden slams the door behind him and pins me with a fuming stare. "What the fuck are you doing here Bella?!" He hisses, going for my elbow and gripping it. He wasn't rough but the force he used certainly pulled me towards him. My chest hit just below his. I let out a huff at the sudden action. My eyes narrowed up at him, feeling his sudden spleen towards me."I could say the same for you!" I jerked my arm out of his hold and took a step back. The sound of fist hitting bones and grunts drowned out in the background as my focus gets latched unto Haiden. The discoloring under his eye was definitely fading out but the anger that consumed his eyes didn't quite fade as yet. Instead, they intensified with irritation. He glares down at me. "You can't be in this part of town Bella! Especially in this alley. What the hell were you thinking coming here huh?! Did you follow me here?" He cast questions at me until I didn't know which one to answer. I gulped, my stomach twisting uncomfortably. I get that I wasn't supposed to be here but did he have to be so, mean? He was completely different than last night. I didn't like it. His eyes dart behind me when I didn't answer him. "Did you come here alone?" His tone had gone down, almost a whisper, as if dreading for my answer or afraid someone else would hear him. I couldn't pinpoint the difference between the two. I shook my head. "No, I'm with Gwen." I admitted, turning behind me as though afraid she would just show up here any second now. I didn't want her to see me with Haiden. I wasn't quite ready for her to know about us yet. I don't think I'll ever be honestly. A dry snort came out of Haiden. "Of fucking course." I whirl around to him, sensing his sudden hostility. His eyes are coiled with burning rage and I'm confused by his sudden mood. "What does that mean?" I voiced out my confusion, my brows lining together to show exactly what I was feeling at this moment. He lets out a dry laugh that lacked humor and emotion. "It means that the bitch doesn't care about you enough. If she did, she wouldn't bring you here in this fucking part of town!" He grits out. I staggered away shocked as if slapped by just his words. I looked around, everyone was too busy on whatever was going around in that circle of bodies to spare us a glance. I was thankful for that. I didn't want their attention anyway.I sucked in a calming breath and pushed my irritation to the front. I turn to him and scowled at his angry face. "Don't call her that!" I hissed. Haiden gives out another snort and rolled his eyes. "Even you know she's a fucking terrible friend Bella! Look you didn't even attempt to defend her actions. You know I'm right." He snapped. I straighten my spine, my chin jutting out to seem as though he wasn't getting to me. "No, you're wrong. You don't know her Haiden! " He raised a brow and sneered. "And you do!?" I jerk at the rage in his tone. I take a step away from him, swallowed the lump in my throat and looked at him. "Why are you being such an asshole?" I whispered. "Because I am Bella! Always were! You think by just fucking you last night would make me grow soft? We aren't those fucking cliche couples in a Wattpad book." He grunts, stepping towards me. My throat burned as his words sliced through the thick skin I thought I crafted for years. Just in a few seconds, he had completely ripped through it. My eyes burned as I tried to hold it in. "I never wanted us to be," I murmured softly. He stares down at me for a few seconds and the rage in his eyes diminishes little by little. He sighs, pinching the thin skin between his brows and clenched his eyes. "Look Bella, you need to leave. This place is dangerous for a girl like you- "A girl like me?" I whispered, interrupting him. His eyes snap open and clash with mine. He is about to speak, probably to apologize and say something that would make me forgive him, but he stops and just stares. The men forming the circle roars with shouts. I couldn't quite understand what they were saying seeing as they talked together and the words jumbled into a mess. But as my attention snapped towards their rowdiness, my lips opened in a gasp as the crowd parts. Two bloody men. One was slumped on the dirty ground while the other barely could hold his own weight. Another came towards him and lift his hand in the air. Everyone roared again. I stumble away. Was this an illegal street fight? Of course it was, this explains the sounds of grunts and fists knocking on flesh and bones. But what was Haiden doing around here? I turn to Haiden, my mouth parting to ask him but nothing comes out. His jaw clenches as he scans his eyes over my features. "Bella-" He says faintly, taking a step towards me until the door he just came out of opens. We both snap our heads that way, my eyes widening whilst Haiden stayed nonchalant. It was that guy. From the store. The dick who had his nose in my business. His eyes fall on mine and they flashed with knowing. His lips quirk into a smirk. Uneasiness quickly whipped my body and I suddenly felt dread. Moving his gaze away from me, he fixes them on Haiden. The two looked to be the same height, but whilst Haiden's body was lean, the guy was as buff as someone you'd expect seeing at a concert as a security. He could easily fit that description, seeing as he looked scary enough. "You're up Cross. Your turn." His voice is heavy with a 'don't fucking mess this up' tone that piqued my interest. I turn to Haiden noticing how stiff he became in a second. His jaw clenches and my eyes fall to his fisted hands. "Give me a second Snake, I need to take care of something." He says stiffly. "Haiden?" I uttered in confusion. That man, was he going to make Haiden partake in this illegal street fighting? 'Snake's' eyes turn back to me and he grins. "Your girl?" He nudges his chin my way and looked to be suppressing a humored laugh. "No. She's just a girl who follows me around occasionally. She's no one." Haiden answers without a single emotion leaking out. He was cold, his voice freezing everything in its path. It took those words to shatter me into a million pieces. My heart drops in the pit of my stomach, settling there uncomfortably. My conscience was right, I shouldn't have come here. I should have stayed in Gwen's car and just pray she'd drive away soon. But no, I decided to follow Haiden here only to get fractured by his words. What the hell was I thinking? Did I really think he'd change for me? That I would be 'special' to him? What was I expecting from a 'bad boy'? I should've heeded everyone's warnings. I was fucking stupid. I staggered away from him and that action must've drawn his attention. His brown eyes collided with mine and for a second I think of how it might be if they won't collide anymore. Where we won't collide anymore. It hurts. "Bella-" I shook my head. "It's Arabella to you and stay away from me. I fucking mean it Haiden." I hissed turned around before he saw the tear that slipped out of my eye. What was I really expecting from a bad boy? He proved that his reputation wasn't based off on lies but the truth.
