My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me
Arabella Rivera Pinning Gwen with a glare he groans. "Now what do you want Reece?" Gwen's face morphs into one I'm familiar with. The one where she always gets what she wants. This time, I was sure wouldn't be different. "You know what I want Spencer." Her white teeth peeks out as she grins. "You." She winks. I shudder inwardly, not at all pleased by witnessing her flirting with a guy who sells drugs and weed. Spencer rolls his eyes, yet a small smirk crawls on his face, completely replacing the scowl he spotted moments ago. "Cut the crap Reece." "Oh, but I'm not kidding." She says breathlessly. Spencer smirk widens. "I told you before I don't do shit or give shit for free. " He takes a step back when Gwen opens the door. Before she could go fully out, my fingers latch around her elbow, stopping her. She turns to me and my wide eyes said it all. What the fuck is wrong with you? Of course I chose to say something more, suitable. "What are you doing?" My voice had pitched with with a recognizable panic that made her eyes soften. "Relax Arabella. I'm not going anywhere." She says softly to assure me. Great she just gave him my name unintentionally. I decided to trust her, I mean who else can I trust around here? I didn't know anyone neither did I want to. So I nodded and let her go, knowing Gwen wouldn't put me in a dangerous position on purpose. She gets out of the car fully and Spencer smirks down at her. He eyed her short skirt and skin tight crop top, and a look I was familiar with flashes in his eyes. "Reece you know you're playing with fire? I can't keep giving you free weed, that's fucking with the business I have going on." Gwen lean her weight on the car's door and flips her hair behind her shoulder. "How about I pay you in another way?" She asked in a low tone that piqued Spencer's interest instantly. Was she really going to go as far as sleeping with him just to get a bag of weed? "What do you have in mind?" He questions, licking his dark bottom lip that showed he had smoked far too much. He takes a step forward, caging her between him and the door of the car. Gwen didn't seem to mind. His fingers reach to grasp her silky strands and playfully twisted them. "You know what I mean Spence." Gwen breathed out and her hand shot out to squeeze his tatted bicep. Great she has a nickname for him. Being safe was seriously not in Gwen's dictionary but I suppose I could not judge, seeing that I proved I hadn't been safe last night either. As they continued to flirt, I drown them out. The familiar sound of stressed rubber booming our way set my heart into my throat. My eyes snap to the side mirror and I got the quick flash of the familiar black truck I had been looking for the entire day. Haiden. What was he doing in this part of town? With my heart beating fast and the emotions from last night coming full force back down to me, made me sneak a quick peek at Gwen and Spencer. They were still absorbed in their conversation to allow any other disturbances. "What a fucking show off." One of the tatted men spoke and the rest grumbled something of agreement. "Was he the shit that knocked you out last round?" Another asked and some laughed while the others cursed. "Yeah that fucker made me lose a good bit of money. I'll get him next time and make him pay double." I payed them no mind, my eyes following Haiden. He parks beside an alley and the the door to the driver's side pushes open seconds later. He is dressed all in black today, seeming to want to go unnoticed. But Haiden Cross could never go unnoticed. He didn't show up to school today but can come here? Curiosity was always my weak point when it came to him. He pulls out a black duffel bag and throws it over his shoulder carelessly before slamming the door harshly. Haiden walks around the pick up and then seconds later disappears into the alley. Chewing my lower lip to stop the itching in my fingers, I finally just said fuck it. "I'll be back in a sec." I said to Gwen, hoping she was too engrossed in conversation to ask questions. I was right, she was. With a single nod Gwen murmurs. "Okay. Be safe." I rolled my eyes. She didn't even turn to spare me a glance. Getting out of the car was something I shouldn't have done. For one, because around here was dangerous and two, those tatted men spared me their attention. I didn't want it. But I gulped down my fear and crossed the road like my ass was lit on fire. What the hell was I doing? Get back in the car. My conscience was right, I should get back in the car. But everything that had to do with Haiden, just made my logical mind burn in the back of my head. Where it could never be heard. With him, I was never in the right state of mind. Never able to weigh the pros and cons properly. I was reckless when it came to him.My feet dragged me to where he disappeared. They were like magnets, pulling me towards the boy they were wrapped around hours ago. I crossed my arms over my chest and made a quick sneak at Gwen before continuing to the alley. She was still so lost into her flirtation that she had not realized I was now on the other side of the road. I bit my lip. That's what I wanted right? For her not to be aware of me following Haiden? I tear my eyes away from her, so I wouldn't succumb to my fear and run to her. My want to see Haiden after last night was too strong to turn away now. I needed answers and he was the only one who could give them to me. Therefore I turned into the alley. The first thing I noticed were the many men everywhere. A shiver of fear run down my spine. I should get out of here. The alarm in my head went off. I should listen to it. I really should. But instead of actually listening, I continued walking. The sound of grunts and fists knocking on bones and flesh made my skin crawl. What was Haiden doing in a place like this? "Hey babe, never seen your pretty face around here." A tall dark guy with piercings everywhere on his face face spoke up. He had been leaning on the wall to my right. I pressed my lips together, not answering him as I pushed my body closer to my left where I was basically inches away from the wall. He chuckles when I don't answer. The sound had my stomach twisting with unpleasant knots. I was putting myself more in danger, I was at least aware of that. Then why couldn't I stop? Why did I want to see Haiden so badly that I was willing to get into trouble? This wasn't me. This truly wasn't me. Haiden Cross had completely turned me into someone I didn't recognize anymore. And I had no idea if this was a good or bad thing. Still even with my sudden increasing fear, I continued on my way to the bodies that formed a circle. Curious as to what that was going on I nearly got hit by the door suddenly opening. I jerk away in time. A lump gets stuck in my throat when brown eyes pinned me down. Haiden.
