The Despised Luna's Comeback
"You!" I could instantly tell what Caden was planning. I batted my lashes and said, "Then you take the first shower." With a playful pout, I turned to leave—but Caden wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me back into his arms. He teased, "Didn't Grandpa just say we should try a little harder to give him a grandson? Do you want a boy or a girl?" The way he said it made my ears burn. I nudged him with my elbow. "I haven't married you yet." "You're mine either way." And with that, he lifted me up in his arms. I squealed, instinctively wrapping my arms around his neck. "Caden, you shameless wolf!" Moonlight spilled into the bathroom. The two of us stood there bare, and deep inside, Freya howled with delight. "Rosaline, I love you." And just like that, it was another night of passion—where body and soul intertwined. ... By morning, I was completely worn out. I could barely move. Half-asleep, I felt Caden press a gentle kiss to my forehead and whisper, "Wanna get up for breakfast?" I didn't even open my eyes, just shook my head. He tugged the blanket up over my shoulders and said softly, "I've got a quick meeting at the office. I'll be back soon. If you're hungry, have Willa fix you something." Too exhausted to reply properly, I mumbled something and drifted off again. I didn't know how long I'd slept when a loud knock jolted me awake. The door burst open and someone stomped in. It was Eleanor, storming into my room like a whirlwind. "Well, well. Still in bed? Do you even know what time it is?" She looked me over with barely concealed disgust."Who said you could come in?" I rubbed my eyes and looked up at her. "You dare talk to me like that?" she snapped, folding her arms. "Get up! There's tone of things that need to be done in this house. We didn't allow you into this family to treat you like royalty!" Her yelling was giving me a headache. I massaged my temples and asked calmly, "Are you done? If you did, then please leave." I was holding back my temper. But she wasn't about to let it go. She stepped forward, voice rising. "Rosaline, who do you think you are, talking to me like that?" "Enough!" I lifted my gaze, cold and sharp. Eleanor flinched and took a step back. I took a deep breath, pushing the anger down. "Are you finished? If you did, please get out." "Rosaline, don't think you're all that. Let me tell you something. An Omega like you will never marry into this family!" Her eyes glinted with malice. "The one marrying me is Caden. Do you think your opinion will change that?" I twirled my wrist and sighed. "You don't like me. Well, I don't like you either. Can't we just live our lives separately without bothering each other?" That set her off. Eleanor raised her brows and chided, "You really think you're untouchable, don't you? I know all about you, Rosaline. Every dirty little secret of yours. I have dirt on you." "Oh? My secrets?" I smiled faintly, amused. "Then why don't you tell me what exactly you have on me?" "Aren't you shameless? You've been sneaking around behind Caden's back, haven't you? Heaven knows how many mangy mutts you've been with!" Eleanor insulted me harshly. Her words made my expression darken. I jumped up from the bed and stood directly in front of her. I was taller than Eleanor. When I stared down at her, the pressure made her twitch nervously and instinctively take another step back. "Where did you hear that?" I asked coldly. She thought she'd struck a nerve. Eleanor smirked triumphantly. "If you know what's good for you, you'll do as I say. Or you'll regret it." "Are you threatening me?" I narrowed my eyes, replaying some past events in my head. Her words began to make sense.I rolled my eyes; my expression shifted into something close to panic. "Wait! What exactly do you know?" Eleanor had never seen me like this. She grinned smugly and said, "If you've done it, don't expect to keep it hidden." She turned and marched out. "Wait!" I called out loudly after her. I made my voice tremble, trying to sound afraid, and pleaded, "Y-ou couldn't possibly know!" When she was finally gone, I plopped back on the bed and let out a lazy yawn. So, Eleanor's shown her hand. It looks like Richard's birthday party is going to be quite the spectacle. Right then, my phone buzzed on the nightstand. I glanced at the caller ID, eyes narrowing. After a quick wash, I realized how hungry I was and headed downstairs to find something to eat. Sure enough, Queenie and Eleanor were lounging on the couch. The moment they saw me, their expressions turned smug and superior, like they were waiting for something.
