The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 686 The Rat Reveals Themselves

"Samuel!" The sudden shout made me jump in surprise, and before I could react, the harsh screech of tires scraped the pavement. Through Samuel's shoulder, I saw a car speeding straight toward us. My body froze, a wave of panic filling my chest, but Samuel was quick to act. He shoved me out of the way. "Samuel!" The screeching tires must have alerted the bodyguards nearby. The car swerved sharply, seemingly trying to escape, I rushed toward Samuel, my voice trembling in fear. "Samuel! Are you okay?" I dropped to my knees in front of him, my voice breaking. Samuel pressed his hand to the back of his head and stood, shaking his head. "I'm fine." The werewolf bodyguards who had hurried over began asking questions. "What happened?" I was too consumed with worry for Samuel to answer. Noticing my distress, Samuel wrapped his arm around my shoulders, offering reassurance. He turned to the bodyguards. "A car deliberately drove at us. Check the surveillance footage and try to get the license plate or find out who owns it." The bodyguard nodded quickly. "Understood. I'll take care of it right away." We need to get to the hospital, I said urgently, leading Samuel to the car. We headed straight there. ... At the hospital, after ensuring Samuel was being looked after, I immediately called Rosaline to update her. She was just as shocked as I was and quickly ordered an investigation into the cars coming and going. Soon, she called me back. "Naomi, we've found them. I won't let them get away with this." Relief washed over me as I sighed, feeling the weight lift from my chest. "Rosie, if you catch them, let me know immediately." They had harmed Samuel. I wouldn't let them off the hook."How's Samuel?" Rosaline asked. "He's still being checked over, but he hit his head on a pillar. I'm really worried," I said, my heart sinking as I bit my lip. Just then, the door to the exam room opened, and I quickly hung up. "How are you feeling? Does your head hurt? Is it serious?" I asked, my heart aching when I saw the bandage on Samuel's forehead. "It's just a few scrapes. Nothing serious," Samuel reassured me, gently stroking my hair and smiling softly. Though Samuel insisted it wasn't bad, I wasn't convinced. I grabbed his hand and checked him over for any other injuries. When I noticed a cut on the back of his head, my heart sank. "You hit your head. And you call that 'just a few scrapes'?" I grabbed his wrist, determined to get him checked out properly. Seeing my concern, Samuel reached out and carefully lifted me into his arms, setting me down gently on a chair in the hallway. "I told you I'm fine. Don't worry," he said, kneeling in front of me with a reassuring smile. I bit my lip, tears slipping down my cheeks. "You scared me. That was so dangerous." "Don't cry, my dear," Samuel said softly, wiping the tears from my eyes, his thumb brushing my cheek. I leaned into his touch, pressing my cheek against his palm, savoring the warmth of his skin. "The company's already tracking them down. I won't let them get away with this," I said firmly. Rosaline's POV: After hanging up, I sat at my desk, staring at the footage on my computer screen. Anger slowly bubbled up inside me as I studied the images. A knock on my office door broke my concentration. I quickly hid the file and called out, "Come in." The door opened, and a nervous young werewolf from the planning department stepped in, adjusting his glasses. "Ms. Sinclair." I gave him a silent look, signaling him to explain himself."I'm from the planning department. Here's the monthly summary report," he said, scanning the room briefly before handing me the documents. "Why didn't your department head bring this personally?" I asked, my tone calm but curious. The young man hesitated before replying, "Uh ... Ms. Brown wasn't feeling well this afternoon, so she asked me to deliver it instead." I observed his every move, noting a slight shift in his demeanor. I nodded slowly. "Alright, you can go now." He hesitated again, then spoke up, "Ms. Sinclair, would you like me to get you a cup of coffee?" I was busy with paperwork, so I nodded absentmindedly. His face lit up with a smile as he turned to leave. I watched him go, letting out a quiet scoff. "I thought it's be someone more impressive," I muttered to myself before dialing Joel's number. "Come help me put on a show."
