The Despised Luna's Comeback
The sound of high heels clicking against the floor grew louder. I looked up at the sound and saw a glamorous female werewolf walking over, sitting directly on the armrest of Jack's couch, with chestnut brown hair hanging to one side. Her eyes sparkled with allure, falling directly on Caden's face. "One stone to decide the winner—that's more exciting," the female werewolf said, a smirk playing on her lips. "Mr. Holbrook, since I don't know much about gambling with stones, let her take over." Jack gestured to the woman, looking at Caden. "I didn't expect you to know Ms. Sullivan," Caden said casually. I watched from the side, unable to help but sneer. Jack had clearly chosen this place for a reason. Even if Caden hadn't mentioned the witch's stone betting, Jack would have. What I didn't expect, though, was how close Jack and this so-called Ms. Sullivan seemed. Most werewolves might not know much about witch's stone gambling, but anyone familiar with the circle would've heard of the Stars Pack—and Jessica Sullivan, its heiress, was the most well-known female werewolf in the game. The witches were a mysterious group, long relying on dark magic to combat the various packs across the Werewolf Continent. Their power came from the witch's stones. With a witch's stone and the accompanying chant, they could perform powerful, dark magic, though it wasn't accepted or recognized by the werewolf world. But the stones' mystical power made them the most sought-after and valuable gambling material in the underground world of werewolves. Jessica, with her sharp senses, opened a grade-five witch's stone when she was just 16, causing a stir in the gambling world. Since then, she's opened numerous other high-grade witch's stones, earning her the title of the youngest gambling master in the underground world. "I didn't know I was so famous that Mr. Holbrook knows me." Jessica's eyes lit up as she winked at Caden. I frowned, watching closely. "It's not fair, Mr. Horton." Caden looked up."Well, Mr. Holbrook, you can always find someone to help," Jack said, his smile turning smug. Upon hearing this, Caden grinned, turning to me. "What do you think, do you want to give it a try?" "Me?" I blinked, confused. Caden's hand slid around my waist, and he whispered in my ear, "Yeah, I don't know much about witch's stone betting." Hearing this, I couldn't help but twitch my lips. I thought Caden had some secret up his sleeve when he suggested betting, but it turned out he was just as clueless. "Is Ms. Sinclair also an expert in witch's stone betting?" Jack asked, his eyes scanning me with newfound curiosity. I turned to look at Jack, a mysterious glint in my eyes. Resting my chin on my hand, I let a faint smile play on my lips. Their curiosity only amused me. After keeping them waiting for a few moments, I finally shrugged my shoulders and said, "Well, this is my first time, so if we're betting, it's all about luck." Caden's gaze softened, and I could feel his gaze on me. "Ms. Sinclair, you really have that much faith in your luck?" Jack sneered. "Of course." I nodded. Jessica, who had been watching Caden for a while, stepped forward, crossing her arms and looking at me with disdain. "Let's see how good you really are." I turned to Caden, hesitating for a moment before speaking, "What if I lose?" "I trust you," Caden replied, giving my nose a playful tap and chuckling. Jessica tilted her head, sneering. "Ms. Sinclair, huh?" I turned back to her, my expression still calm, but my eyes were beginning to ice over. I didn't like the way Jessica was looking at Caden. "Ms. Sullivan, are you giving up?" I raised an eyebrow. Jessica placed her crimson nails on her lips, glancing at me before shifting her gaze back to Caden. "How about we add another wager?" "What do you want to add?" I asked. She smiled slyly. "If you lose, you'll have to let me spend a month with Mr. Holbrook. How about it?" Her words made my blood run cold. Jessica had the audacity to try and steal my man right in front of me? I stepped forward, blocking her path. With a smirk, I coldly said, "Have you thought this through?" "Ms. Sinclair, are you agreeing to the bet?" Jessica's face lit up, her gaze immediately shifting to Caden. I laughed coldly and glanced at her delicate neck before grabbing her by the throat. Jessica gasped in shock, her hands scrambling at my wrist, nearly screaming. "What are you doing?" she gasped. "Don't worry," I said sweetly, glancing over at the werewolf bodyguards behind Jack, flashing a harmless smile. I turned back to Jessica, my grip loosening and shifting to her cheek. With a calm tone, I said, "How about this? If you lose, your life will be mine."
