The Despised Luna's Comeback
Naomi's POV: Upon hearing what I said, Jasper lifted his gaze and stared directly at me. Uncomfortable under his intense look, I turned my head away and awkwardly took a sip of my drink. "It's just a broken heart, right? You look so downcast and lost." Jasper let out a dry laugh but remained silent. He just continued to sip his wine without a word. The music and flashing lights in the bar added to the lively vibe, yet the space between Jasper and me felt as if we were in a different world, completely quiet. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Samuel. I hesitated briefly, then answered the call, but before I could, I felt someone grab my wrist. Startled, I turned to see Jasper's hand on me. "Why?" Jasper's gaze was distant as he looked at me. "Jasper?" I waved my hand in front of his face. "Are you drunk?" "Why not me? Rosaline ... " His head hung low, his posture slumped like a wet dog after a rainstorm, looking pitiful. I stared at him for a moment, bit my lip, and reached out to help him stand. "You are drunk. I'll take you home." But Jasper remained seated, even gripping onto me, almost making me fall back onto the couch. He looked at me with an unusually serious expression, making me wonder if he was truly drunk. Then, in a soft voice, he murmured, "Rosaline, I really like you ... " A sharp pain stabbed at my chest. I inhaled deeply and reached for his cheek. "Jasper, I'm not Rosaline! I'm Naomi! You're drunk! Wake up!" Without warning, he took my hand and pressed it against his cheek, his gaze full of affection. "Do you know ... seeing you with Caden really hurts." "Do you know how much it hurts me, knowing you like Rosaline?" I bit my lip, then hesitantly brushed my hand against his cheek. "Rosaline ... " Jasper's eyes were soft, and he cupped my face, leaning in slowly. My heart raced in my chest. I knew I should push him away, I should reject this, but at that moment, I remained completely still.I gazed at him and finally closed my eyes. Just once, and the last time. ... Even when I got back to the hotel, my mind was still in chaos. I tossed and turned in bed, the events from the bar replaying over and over in my thoughts. I pressed my lips together, my fingers gripping tightly. But in my distracted state, I had completely ignored the phone on the bedside table. When I woke up the next morning, my phone was flooded with messages from my manager and news updates. I stared at the screen, frozen in place. The names Naomi Lawrence, Jasper Sullivan, and Samuel Foster were all trending, thanks to two sets of photos. One set showed me and Samuel walking hand-in-hand while shopping in a mall, and the other featured paparazzi snapping a photo of me and Jasper kissing in a bar. These two videos went viral, and the headline "Naomi Lawrence playing both sides" dominated the trendy searches. I was in a complete panic, feeling utterly lost. I never imagined things would spiral out of control like this. At that moment, the manager called, and I hesitated before eventually picking up the phone. "What in the world have you done? Are you out of your mind?" The manager's angry tone made me feel even more uneasy. "I ... " I started to speak, but I couldn't find the right words. "What do you mean 'I'? Naomi, you really know how to cause problems for me!" The manager's fury made me feel even worse. "I'm sorry." I could think of nothing else to say except apologize. "Apologies won't help now. Don't say anything for now, let the company handle it." The manager angrily ended the call. I curled up, staring at the missed calls and messages from Samuel on my phone, uncertain whether I should respond. After some thought, I decided to reply.Samuel's POV: When I arrived at the hotel, Naomi was still focused on her phone, reading the countless harsh comments about her. "You're here." Naomi turned to face me and managed a smile that was more painful than tears. "You have feelings for Jasper, don't you?" I asked quietly. I wasn't clueless, and after spending time with Naomi, I had picked up on some things. Unlike the confident persona she portrayed on screen, her real-life acting was awful when she was with me. "If you truly like him, I can step back." My hand tightened at my side, and perhaps only the Moon Goddess could understand the courage it took for me to say those words. For a brief moment, Naomi stood frozen, her expression shifting from shock to regret. She sighed, nodded with a sad smile, and said, "Yes, I do like Jasper, but he only has eyes for Rosaline." "So, you accepted my confession just to make Jasper jealous?" I asked, fighting back the hurt inside. Naomi lowered her gaze, unable to meet my eyes. "Maybe ... maybe it really was like that back then," Naomi spoke softly, "But, I also want to move on from Jasper and truly be with you." Does she truly want to be with me? I stood frozen for a moment, gazing at her, before finally kneeling beside the bed. "Naomi, I love you." Naomi looked up in shock, tears welling up in her eyes and spilling over her cheeks. Tenderly brushing away her tears, I smiled at her and said, "So, I'll do everything I can to make you fall in love with me for real."
