The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 632 A Sense of Lingering Fear

"You're pretty bold, huh?" The middle-aged werewolf gave a slimy grin. "Get lost," I snapped coldly and turned around, only to be stopped by a few more werewolves. "Take all of them!" the middle-aged werewolf snorted, and suddenly the werewolf woman who had been lying on the ground lifted her head. "She's prettier than me! Take her instead!" she yelled, still shouting in unwilling desperation. I felt sick. These jerks were kidnapping people out in the open like they didn't care about any laws. I was about to call for Freya when I felt a sharp pain in my back. Right away, I lost all strength and couldn't move. I cursed silently. My legs gave out, and I collapsed. "Alpha, that was a hallucination needle with wolfsbane in it!" Freya shouted alarmingly in my mind. The middle-aged werewolf came closer, his face twisted in lust. "You really are a beauty." He reached toward my face with satisfaction, but before he could touch me, someone sent him flying with a powerful kick. Relief washed over me as I saw Caden standing there, his expression like ice, shielding me. "Who the hell are you?" The middle-aged werewolf gasped, coughing and falling to his knees. He pointed at Caden. "You're getting in our way! Get him!" Hearing those words, the other werewolves trailing behind him snapped back to their senses and charged at Caden with furious roars. But compared to Caden, these Beta werewolves were nothing. Fueled by a seething rage, he struck with brutal, unforgiving force. In no time, all of them were on the ground, badly injured and unable to move. The werewolf woman hiding in the corner trembled, too scared to do anything. "Call for backup now," Caden said, kicking one of the werewolves aside before hanging up his phone. Then he leaned down to lift me up. I looked at him, tried to smile a little, and then everything went black. Caden's POV:Rosaline's body was burning with heat, and the drug was clearly working. She leaned on me weakly, her eyes unfocused. Worried, I tried to walk away, but someone suddenly clung to my leg. "Sir! Sir!" the werewolf woman looked up at me, tear tracks still staining her cheeks, her expression pitiful. "I'm Selena Yarrow. Please take me with you too. I'll do anything, just don't leave me behind." She looked small and helpless, her tears falling nonstop. Some people might have felt sorry for her, but I remembered what she had done earlier. I felt nothing but disgust. "Get out of my way." I kicked her aside and walked off without hesitation. Selena bit her lip, unwilling to accept her fate. She tried to stand, but a werewolf bodyguard behind me shoved her back down. ... "How is she?" I asked, looking at Rosaline lying quietly on the hospital bed. My voice was tense. "It's just the effects of a sedative. It's not dangerous," Janice replied, standing up with no expression. "Then why hasn't she come to yet?" I asked, frowning at Rosaline. "She's just too exhausted ... " Janice hesitated before continuing. "Mr. Holbrook, it would be best for you to take it easy for the next few days, allowing Mrs. Rosaline to rest properly." My expression darkened slightly, but Janice didn't react. She calmly wrote notes in her notebook. "I looked into it. That person's background is a bit complicated." "Keep digging. I want every detail," I said in a cold tone. "What about that woman?" Janice asked. I let out a sharp breath through my nose and stayed quiet to show how I felt. A woman like that really has no place here. "Got it," Janice said with a quick nod before walking away. I glanced down at Rosaline lying on the bed and gently touched her face. "Hey, are you awake? Does anything still hurt?" Rosaline's POV:My head was pounding, and the last thing I remembered was someone grabbing onto my arm. "My head really aches ... " My voice came out rough and dry. "It's okay now," Caden said, holding me in his arms and trying to calm me down. I gave him a faint smile and slowly sat up, resting against him for support. What happened earlier had been truly frightening. If someone as strong as the Shadow Pack's Alpha could be affected, then regular people wouldn't stand a chance. I placed my hands on Caden's face and looked at him seriously. "Caden, if you hadn't shown up when you did, I might've ... " But before I could say anything more, he suddenly leaned in and kissed me. His hand rested on my waist as he gazed at me with warmth in his eyes. "I'll never leave you," he said softly. Feeling touched, I leaned into his chest and let him hold me close.
