The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 611 We're Home

"What happened? I'm coming over now," Jasper said urgently, his voice full of concern. He quickly started to turn the car around but froze when he realized I was still sitting beside him in the passenger seat. "Naomi, something's happened to Rosaline. I need to go to her. You should head home by yourself," he added, his tone laced with anxiety. "You go ahead. I'll be fine," I replied, stepping out of the car. I stood still, watching as the car sped off, the distance between us growing. A heavy feeling of disappointment settled over me, my lips pressed tightly together. I had always known Rosaline was the one Jasper truly cared for. What was I expecting? Rosaline's POV: I had been drifting in and out of light sleep, barely holding on until the first light of morning, when the sudden sound of an umbrella hitting the ground jolted me awake. I furrowed my brow, the noise pulling me from my half-dream state. I opened my eyes slowly but immediately froze when I saw Caden standing at the entrance of the cave. "Caden?" My voice was filled with shock as I exclaimed his name. Pushing myself up with my hands, a sharp pain shot through my legs, making me gasp in discomfort. Great, my legs were asleep. Joel, who had been lying beside me, stirred from my sudden movement. He quickly woke, his gaze locking on Caden, confusion flashing across his face as he tried to understand what was happening. Caden, panting heavily, didn't spare a glance at Joel. His focus was entirely on me as he crossed the cave and scooped me up effortlessly into his arms, not hesitating for a second. He moved toward the exit without saying a word. "I've been looking for you all night. Let's go home," Caden said softly. A warm feeling spread through me at his words. I had always known he'd come for me, just like I'd known he would. Caden's werewolf bodyguards helped Joel to his feet, and the four of us made our way down the mountain together. As we neared the estate's edge, a group of reporters, having heard about the situation, quickly appeared. Cameras flashed relentlessly, their long lenses trained on us, and a few even attempted to approach us for interviews. "I'm sorry, but we aren't available for interviews right now. Please leave, unless you want to lose your job," Caden said coldly, his voice thick with authority. The reporters were taken aback, standing frozen for a moment, not daring to speak. They quickly scattered, retreating into the distance. Caden, still wearing his stern expression, carefully helped me into the car and fastened my seatbelt with quiet attention. I lowered my head, but finally lifted my gaze to meet his. "I'm sorry for causing you so much worry ... but Joel sprained his foot yesterday, and we couldn't leave in time. We need to get him to the hospital, or it might get worse." "It's just a sprain. How bad could it be?" Caden remarked nonchalantly, his expression unreadable, as though the injury didn't concern him at all. But despite his indifferent tone, he drove us to the hospital, though it was clear he didn't want to spend any more time with Joel. He had to admit, though, that Joel wasn't a bad guy. "It's just a sprain. We'll wrap it up, and you'll be fine. Just take it easy and use the ointment I gave you," the doctor said, his voice reassuring. Caden and I stayed in the exam room, making sure Joel was alright before we left. On the ride back, Caden seemed like he was about to say something but kept holding back, his eyes on me as I sat quietly, exhausted. I didn't speak either, the silence hanging between us. A half hour later, Caden gently nudged me awake. "Rosaline, wake up. We're home." "Mmm ... Huh?" I rubbed my eyes groggily as I stirred awake. Only then did I realize the car had stopped in front of the Eclipse Manor. I had been so tired, I could barely keep my eyes open. When I went inside, I went straight to bed, not waking again until nearly sunset. During dinner, I absentmindedly scrolled through my phone, only to find that rumors had started spreading about Joel and me running away together. I sighed, tossing my phone aside in disbelief. "These news outlets will say anything. We just got stuck at a scenic spot for a while, and now they're saying we were eloping. It's ridiculous." When Caden heard me mention the trending topic, his expression immediately darkened. After a brief pause, he didn't say anything but simply placed a bowl of soup in front of me. "Don't worry about it. The reporters saw me carrying you earlier. I'll have Yale get those posts taken down tomorrow. You don't need to stress over it."I glanced at Caden, surprised by his calm response, then raised an eyebrow, testing him with a playful smile. "Well, that's strange. You're not angry today?" Caden gave me a resigned look and spoke quietly. "I am angry, but this isn't your fault. I'm just ... jealous. And I know you've had a rough day, being stuck out there all night. You're exhausted." I chuckled, feeling a warmth spread in my chest. He actually understood how I felt. I took a spoonful of soup, blowing on it before taking a sip. "Alright, I get it. Joel knows he messed up, so don't be mad at him."
