The Despised Luna's Comeback
I rubbed my temples, already feeling a headache coming on. If Caden found out about this, he'd get jealous again. I went through a few more scripts, but for some reason, I suddenly started missing him. Caden's handsome, almost unreal face kept flashing through my mind, even though we had just seen each other this morning. Shaking my head with a helpless smile, I closed my laptop and headed out, driving straight to Eclipse Pack. Lately, I'd been so tied up with Starplay Entertainment that I hadn't had much time to check in on his work. But thankfully, the "Ice and Fire" project I'd been overseeing had finally hit its stride. The jewelry collection was a massive hit—so popular it kept selling out. Even BPL had been surprisingly quiet lately, and Everett hadn't made any new moves. Everything seemed calm on the surface. As I drove, both hands gripping the wheel, my thoughts drifted. Ever since Hubert came to Rivemon, I'd wanted to ask him about my parents—and about Sal and Hughie too—but every time the words were on the tip of my tongue, I swallowed them back. I still remembered the way Hubert's expression would darken whenever I brought up the past as a child—that solemn, heavy look etched into his face. It only took about 30 minutes to get from Starplay Entertainment to the Eclipse Pack headquarters. But for some reason, I couldn't shake the feeling that a car was tailing me. Every time I tried to get a clear look, it would disappear into the traffic. Maybe I was just imagining things. I furrowed my brow, an uneasy feeling creeping into my chest. It felt like something was about to happen. Soon, I arrived at Eclipse Pack. As I approached the main entrance, I overheard the front desk girls gossiping. "Did you hear about Ms. Sinclair and Prince Joel?""Of course I did! That drama was everywhere—how could anyone not know?" "So, do you think Ms. Sinclair likes Prince Joel or Mr. Holbrook?" "I'm team, Mr. Holbrook. He and Ms. Sinclair are a perfect match." "Come on, Prince Joel's not a bad choice either. He is a prince, after all!" I frowned and cleared my throat softly. "Ms. Sinclair!" They froze instantly, clearly terrified as they greeted me. "If you want to keep your jobs at Eclipse Pack," I said coolly, glancing at them, "I suggest you stop talking behind people's backs." "Yes, Ms. Sinclair. We're so sorry," they stammered, exchanging nervous looks. I walked straight into the elevator and headed to the top floor—Caden's office. Once there, I knocked on the door. "Come in," came Caden's crisp voice. I pushed the door open. He was sitting at his desk, completely focused on his computer screen. Wearing a charcoal gray tailored suit, his flawless figure was on full display. His chiseled features and sharp profile made him almost too good-looking to be real. The golden hues of the setting sun streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow around him like a halo. He looked radiant. Looking at Caden—so breathtakingly handsome it was almost hard to breathe—I found myself momentarily dazed. He heard the door and looked up. When he saw me staring at him, the corners of his mouth lifted into a faint smirk. His voice was low and husky as he asked, "Had your fill yet?" "Nope." I gave a casual smile and walked over to him. "Oh?" My response seemed to catch him off guard. I sank into the couch nearby, raising a brow playfully. "My hubby's this good-looking—why wouldn't I want to keep looking?" That one word instantly lit up Caden's face. He stood abruptly, took a long stride, and sat down right next to me."What did you just call me?" His eyes gleamed as he leaned in, a teasing smile playing at his lips. That's when I realized what I'd said—I had called him hubby out loud. I couldn't believe it slipped out like that. Ugh, how embarrassing. My cheeks burned. "It's nothing," I mumbled under my breath. "Really?" Caden chuckled lowly. "I heard it." He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine. "I like hearing you call me that. Say it again." "No ... " I gave him a playful glare, pretending to protest. Before I could finish my sentence, his lips were already on mine. In an instant, I was engulfed by his presence, his unique masculine scent surrounding me. Our mouths tangled, breath mixing with breath. Caden's kiss deepened quickly, his hands slipping under the hem of my shirt, traveling upward. Everywhere his hands touched felt like it was set on fire—my whole body burned with heat. A strange, indescribable feeling spread slowly through my chest, curling and twisting like smoke. "Don't ... " I murmured, but my arms wrapped around his neck on their own, pulling him closer. That unconscious movement made Caden's breathing grow heavier. His hands began to explore every inch of my body, like he couldn't get enough. Just when things were getting impossibly intense ... A knock came at the door. "Someone's here!" I gasped, snapping back to reality. I quickly pushed Caden away and rushed to fix my clothes. Caden stood up and, clearly annoyed, said sharply, "Come in." The door opened, and Yale stepped in. The moment he saw our disheveled appearance, he froze. His lips twitched slightly, and under Caden's glare, he forced himself to walk over, keeping his eyes locked firmly on the folder in his hands. "Mr. Holbrook, this document needs your review and signature."Caden gave him a frosty look, signed the paper with a sharp flick of his pen, and said in a cold voice, "Get out." Yale snatched the document back, clearly terrified. "Sure, Mr. Holbrook, Ms. Sinclair—I didn't see anything. Please, carry on." I could've died from embarrassment.
