The Despised Luna's Comeback
"Have you been keeping up with your checkups?" Janice asked, her voice a mix of concern and authority. "I've been really busy lately, and I just didn't have time," Yura answered. "You need to make sure you come regularly," Janice insisted. "Prenatal checkups are crucial. Right now, the baby's development is a bit slow. I'll prescribe some medicine for you, and you'll need five days of nutrient drips." After the ultrasound, Yura climbed off the bed, and I pulled the curtain aside. We were about to leave when Yura suddenly stopped. She looked up and spotted Zera immediately. In a flash, she yanked the curtain shut. Janice noticed her reaction but didn't press for more details. "Is there someone out there you're avoiding?" she asked. Yura nodded without saying a word. Janice cautiously peeked through a small crack in the curtain. "Who is it?" I pointed toward the door and whispered, "The woman in the green clothes." Without hesitation, Janice moved toward the curtain, fully closing it, blocking Zera from sight. I smiled gratefully at her and helped Yura, seizing the chance to slip out quietly. Once outside, Yura let out a sigh of relief. "That was close. I almost got spotted." Janice continued walking ahead of us, speaking in a low tone, "At this stage, the baby is still just an embryo. Its fingers haven't even formed yet. It's not really a person. If not everyone is on board with its arrival, you should think carefully. After all, the environment for raising a child won't be ideal." I couldn't help but feel a little speechless at her words. Janice clearly meant well, but she seemed to misunderstand the situation, assuming Yura was a naive girl, frightened by an unexpected pregnancy and worried about her family finding out. Yura paused for a moment before responding, her voice firm. "Thank you, Doctor. I'm the rightful heir to the Galehowl Pack. I swear on the Moon Goddess, I will never let my child suffer." Zera's POV: That woman, the one responsible for keeping my son unconscious, thought she could hide from me by pulling a curtain? I saw everything. I heard every word. As I walked back to the ward, I was in a foul mood. Once I entered the room, I sat beside Ryan, adjusting his position carefully. Glancing at the heart monitor, I saw the lines still fluctuating regularly. "What did the doctor say earlier?" Sebastian asked, flipping through Ryan's medical chart. He answered himself before I could speak. "She said his condition is stable for now, but there's been no improvement." I clutched Ryan's hand, my face contorted with worry. "Ryan hasn't eaten in days. He's only been surviving on nutrient drips. Look at how much weight he's lost." I turned my attention to the empty coffee table in the room and began rifling through the cabinet. I found only two pieces of clothing. " Aren't there any fruits?" I asked. "You shouldn't have skipped breakfast," Sebastian said casually. "I knew you'd get hungry." "I was in such a rush to see Ryan!" I snapped, then turned to him, seeing him lazily flipping through the chart. My frustration boiled over. "How can you just sit there, not even thinking to get some apples or something? When Ryan wakes up, he'll be starving after days without food. At least get him some apple puree to hold him over!" Sebastian put the chart down and replied in a calm tone. "The doctor said he shouldn't eat anything heavy after such a serious illness. He needs to stick to light foods like congee." "Why you ... " While his response was logical, his calmness only made my frustration worse. "How did I end up with someone like you? And to have a son nearly lose his life because of that woman! "Yura is such a curse. Just look at our son, and now look at the baby she's carrying. She couldn't even keep it healthy. The doctor said it's underdeveloped. Kids these days grow so quickly, but hers is so small." I ranted, but Sebastian caught onto something off in my words and asked, "How do you know all this?" I moved closer to Ryan, casually responding, "My sister came to see Ryan earlier, and while she was here, she went for a checkup and ran into Yura and that Rosaline. She overheard the doctor say the baby has a slight problem." "Slight? Are you sure?" Sebastian asked, looking at me intently. I hesitated, unsure. "Something like that ... I didn't hear clearly."Suddenly, the heart monitor began to beep loudly. I froze, my heart racing as the machine let out a rapid series of beeps. "It was fine just a moment ago. What's happening now?!" I shouted in panic. "Doctor! Call the doctor!" Sebastian stayed calm and pressed the call button on the bed, contacting the nurse's station. "Doctor, there's an issue with the patient in Ward 903. Get the attending physician here right away!" The nurse's voice came through the speaker. "The doctor is on their way. Please don't move the patient until the doctor arrives." I stared at Ryan, watching as his body trembled slightly, his lips pale and slightly parted. I was paralyzed with fear. Sebastian reached to touch him but pulled his hand back, leaning in to listen to Ryan's faint whispers. "Yura ... Yura ... " Ryan muttered her name.
