The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 346 No Mercy

Caden drove me back to New Moon City. "Mr. Holbrook and Ms. Sinclair, welcome home!" Willa greeted us with a bright smile as soon as she saw us. I returned the smile and greeted her before heading to my room to start packing. But before I could do anything, Caden wrapped his arms around me. "You're still recovering. Go rest," he insisted. "But ... " I started to protest. Before I could finish, Caden effortlessly scooped me off the floor. He carefully placed me on the bed and urged, "Rest well, no moving around." "Alright." I sighed, wordless. I had planned to look into the Phoshire Fashion Design Competition. But now, I'd have to sneakily do my research when Caden went to work. I pulled out my phone and began scrolling through it absentmindedly. The first thing that caught my eye was a push notification from a news source. "Rivemon Police Break Down a Crime Syndicate, Raiding Illegal KTVs, Bars, and Casinos" A photo of Hugh accompanied the article. I glanced up at Caden and asked, "Did you do this?" "Of course," he replied with a raised eyebrow. Thinking back to that night, I recalled the dark glint in his eyes. "Did he think he could bully my woman without consequences?" He muttered with a hint of menace. His woman? This guy is shameless. I rolled my eyes. "Who's your woman? You really have some thick skin." Caden leaned in suddenly, a light laugh escaping him. "You will be mine soon." His sudden proximity made my face flush, and I quickly turned my head away.I glanced at the time and said, "It's getting late. You should go to work." "I want to keep you company," Caden said sweetly. "I'm fine now. You haven't been to the office in days. Hurry and go!" I pushed him toward the door. "Alright, I'll go. But remember to call me if anything happens," he said in a low voice. I nodded. "Got it!" Once Caden finally left, I let out a sigh of relief. I opened my computer and started looking through the materials Yura had sent about the competition. One of the files was a video interview with Susan. In the video, Susan appeared arrogant, throwing dismissive remarks about Loe Studio, clearly confident she would win the competition. A sarcastic smirk tugged at my lips. Susan? Just her? She had lost to me, and here she was acting so cocky. Just wait; this time, I'll crush her again. After dinner, I checked the time. It was almost time to pick up Yura at the airport. I was about to head downstairs when a familiar Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of me. The car door opened, and a tall, striking figure stepped out. It was Caden. "Rosaline, get in!" Caden said, walking right up to me. I was a bit surprised. "What are you doing here?" Caden extended his hand, grasping my waist, and gently guided me into the car. He glanced at me and asked, "Aren't you going to pick up Yura from the airport? I'll take you there." So, he specifically came here just to drive me? I bit my lip and replied, "I can go on my own."Caden didn't argue. Instead, he reached over and fastened my seatbelt. Coincidentally, I also reached for my seatbelt, and our hands brushed against each other. The heat from his palm sent a rush of warmth through my ear tips. I quickly pulled my hand back. We rode in silence as Caden navigated the car to the airport. "Get out," he said softly, glancing at me. I checked the time. Yura's flight wouldn't arrive for another half hour. "I need to use the restroom," I told Caden. "Mmm," Caden murmured in acknowledgment. For some reason, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me. But when I looked behind me, nothing seemed out of place. Was I just being paranoid? I frowned slightly. Candice had been gone for days now. Her crazed actions before made it clear she was still plotting something. I had been waiting for her to show up. As soon as she did, I was ready to deal with her. This time, there would be no mercy. "What are you thinking about?" Caden asked, noticing my serious expression. I snapped out of my thoughts. "I'm wondering where Candice has been hiding these past few days and when she'll try to strike again." "Don't worry. I'll protect you," Caden said, pulling me close and resting his hand on my shoulder. His deep voice whispered comfortingly in my ear. For some reason, his voice made me feel at ease. Just then, I spotted Yura emerging from the gate. She immediately waved at me when she saw us. I quickly pushed Caden away, putting some distance between us. Yura walked over, winking at me. She jested, "Hey, am I the third wheel here, the one that's giant in size?" "Stop joking around," I muttered, my expression turned slightly awkward. Caden flashed a half smile.
